The runner was born with both male & female sexual organs. This condition is rare, but certainly not unheard of. It was not the choice of this individual to be born like this, it was either the Christian God's creation, or Mother Nature's work, depending on your personal philosophy.
Since a person can have physically ambiguous parts, doesn't it stand to reason that sexual preference may also be hardwired into the individual? In other words, maybe it's not their choice?
Many here have expressed those who choose to have a loving & long lasting relationship with the same gender are sinners and don't deserve the same freedoms that heterosexual couples enjoy. At the same time, they scream for freedom from the laws that bind them to act a certain way. Is this hypocrisy, or the morally "right" way to be? Isn't tolerance & freedom what we stand for?

She's got my sympathy, and if ever there was a time to preserve someone's privacy, it's now.

In short, the default setting for the human program of embryogenesis is female. If an XY (male) embryo is not responsive to testosterone, the embryo develops according to the female plan. These people mature into very feminine adults, but they are entirely infertile.
Masculine and feminine occur on a spectrum, not as discrete categories.

The only complaint I ever had about the same-sex issue is when a group wanted to rent a dining hall to perform their acts...

I think it is because they want others to accept them... guess what - it won't work.

But you are equating them, or at least making a point to draw the comparison. Do you not see the profound difference in the group you mentioned and gay/les couples? Murderer, molesters, and thieves directly infringe upon others' person or property.
Same sex couples don't have the same rights as traditional couples. For example, they don't have the right to make medical decisions for their partners, to visit them in critical care when only family members can, etc.
If what you say is correct, why do you and other 'straight' couple worry about what the government says about your marriage? Perhaps because you get some freedoms that they don't, so you don't stick up for them?
BTW, I agree that this runner should not participate in female only competitions, since she/he is obviously not completely female.

I can have legal documentation that allows my neighbor to make decisions about my life... if I so choose.
It's called a Medical Power Of Attorney.
I doubt that because I am straight, my Med POA is legit and someone who is not hetero does not have a legit Med POA.
This is not the same as a "Living Will"... but a power of attorney for an individual to make choices for me, should I not be capable of making them.
