Please Support H.R. 2835: Medical Marijuana Patient Protection Act
Submitted by Jim Brown on Mon, 09/14/2009 - 17:43
78% of Americans support making marijuana available to patients whose doctors recommend they use it. And a growing number of medical organizations, including the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians, have called for legal access to physician-supervised medical marijuana.
This bill would protect medical marijuana patients from arrest and prosecution. We need to support this bill. It is immoral to deny this organic material to the ill and forcing them to take a manufactured pharmaceuticals.

This is gone too far
The idea that the federal government can take you to jail and destroy your whole life over pot is ridiculous. Pot is so beneficial it might be the one and only plant worthy of a biblical mention. For it is not poisonous, not lethal, no adverse side effects. Medical benefits make the plant the single most efficient plant known to man. Glaucoma,Chemo,Radiation treatments, eating stimulant, anger management, back pain, artheritis not to mention it's superior recreational use as opposed to alcohol which kills hundreds of thousands of people every year with auto accidents, overdose, violence and health issues.
Marijuana is also used for textiles, clean burning fuel, rope and too many others to mention. Did I mention that the seeds are one of a handful of foods in the world that you can live on with just water. It has all necessary amino acids the body requires.
It became illegal in 1937 and since then we import the hemp from Canada at a crazy price! due to the laws set forth by this government. It is one of the easiest plants to grow. We are loosing thousands of jobs that we could have if this product was legal and the taxes would be into the billions.
Mother nature gave us all a gift here, the fact that we allow a few to dictate what we can and cant do further strengthens the bars on our incarceration.
The simple fact that people are being put into jail with life threatening illnesses for the use of pot should make us so enraged that we are storming the powers that be with pitchfork in hand.
We all are aware of personal responsibility whether we choose to use it is our own decision not the governments.
Everyone needs to support this cause its about freedom. Would we put a old lady in jail cause she had a problem with martini's?
LEAP is an organization of law enforcement and judges seeking to end the war on drugs. Support them , encourage them, this war is one the people need to win not the government.
read "rules for radicals"
read "rules for radicals" and you'll understand why there is so much injustice right now, the tatic is quite simple, and came summed up in 3 words "overload the system" and that is exactly where we are today.
there are so many fights to fight, which do you put all your effort into? we are so busy with our debt slave trap, and so afraid of losing ground in the money game that we dare not risk our fragile positions with any "boat rocking" and thus atrocities are slowly gaining in size and momentum, it almost makes me belive that 2012 is a real date to look out for.

No thanks, and here's why.
How do I get rid of laws which ought to not exist at all by encouraging the government to write more laws?
we don't have the money or
we don't have the money or propiganda machine to back our cause, so use what tools we CAN use!

As "TargeT" said it's incremental, like a "trigger public optio.
As "TargeT" said it's incremental, like a "trigger public option". But I do catch your drift.
Thomas Jefferson once said, "The natural progress of things is for liberty to yield and government to gain ground."
Well, I guess he called that one.
A Republic, If You Can Keep It
This is the trap that has sucessfully been used to grow govt.
How exactly is it, do you suppose, that govt. continues to grow, grow, and grow some more?
I'll tell you. Specialty legislation. By continuing to induce people to use the power of the sate against each other. By throwing in enough 'good' stuff (even though it's far from good) to induce people to use the system repeatedly.
Tell me what os good about more laws on the books regarding anything? You want my support? Organize a campaign to replace the contents of whatever section of law applies to your area of interest with one word; REPEALED.
Til then, no thanks.
And this the way the government slowly erodes our liberties
And this the way the government slowly erodes our liberties. We have to do everything incrementally, that's how they did it to us and that's how we can beat them at their own game.
How do you eat an Elephant? One spoonful at a time.

you eather eat it one bite
you eather eat it one bite at a time, or you blow the whole fu*king thing up and go find a cow..
I personaly like the elephant though, and i think its worth saving... but if it gets any more rotten I'm not afraid of looking for some cow...
I think i just lost myself with my own analogy....

If voting could really change things,
it would be illegal. Here is hoping for change!
we can use incrementalism
we can use incrementalism just as well as they can, small changes like this lead to the big ones we want, so in the same way that our rights have been eroded, we can erode their unrightly gained powers.

Yep, and it would be cool for Liberty to promote this Dem issue
Dr. Paul has signed on to it and we should show the Left that we do agree on somethings, like mercy for the ill. This bill only has 27 co-sponsors mostly Dems I'm sure, it would be awesome if we could make this a BIG issue.

I strive to break down the
I strive to break down the left right distraction when ever possible, as an EX republican when ever I can promote a sane "left" idea I jump in with two feet, this is definately one of those few cases. (in no way am I saying the right has more sane ideas, both parties are professional wrestlers in my mind)
