Well, Granger, here you go...my first big break. I'm published now, in the Springfield News-Leader:
"The proposed legislative oversight of MIAC, the Missouri Information and Analysis Center, is a national issue. Its "Modern Militia Movement" report was undoubtedly distributed to other fusion centers around the country, as well as to federal agencies such as the FBI and DHS, who are partner agencies to other fusion centers. These centers were formed shortly after the release of the 9/11 report and were charged with the responsibility of gathering and sharing information concerning potential terrorists."

Thanks for emailing me this or else I would have missed it! I think you did an excellent job in stating the structure of the Fusion Centers and making the case for oversight on these centers.
I just came across more disturbing information this morning on the fusion centers that everyone should be aware of! These centers are purposely being set up in ways to avoid any oversight/ FOIA. It is just as we spoke about on the phone yesterday ...but even more sinister ..because they are using private spy contractors in order to get around any oversight and merging military into the centers!
This is a long article... but a must read ..here is an exerpt but read the whole thing:
...firms such as Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), The Sytex Group and Operational Applications Inc. routinely place operatives within military intelligence and civilian fusion centers at a premium price.
Assange wonders whether these job placements are not simply evidence of corruption but rather, are "designed to evade a raft of hard won oversight laws which apply to the military and the police but not to contractors? Is it to keep selected personnel out of the Inspector General's eye?" The available evidence strongly suggests that it is.
As the American Civil Liberties Union documented in their 2007 and 2008 reports on fusion center abuses, one motivation is precisely to subvert oversight laws which do not apply to private mercenary contractors.
