For all his faults Al Gore was a decent proponent of privacy and civil liberties. He didn't/doesn't believe in economic liberty (as if it's a separate thing) and he's coocoo about the environment. A lot of the domestic spying actually started under Clinton too. So he was all over the map, but that's a good speech.
