Jumping to conclusions.
I think we have reached a dangerous place in our assumptions about other people. I know myself recently I have begun to question my own approach to other people’s opinions. The problem goes something like this: “(Insert Name) doesn’t agree with (insert personal opinion) so obviously they are part of a giant media conspiracy to lie to us and everything they say is a lie.” Now, I am not saying that there isn’t a media conspiracy to distort public opinion to some degree and I am also not saying that we should just take everything we are told at face value. However, instantly dismissing someone because they don’t agree with you on every point would probably alienate everyone else in our movement.
I think the biggest example of this that I can see lately is the Glenn Beck argument. I personally think we need to look at anything Glenn says on it’s own Merit. People are capable of waking up and changing their opinion. If they weren’t this movement would still only encompass a few hundred people and we wouldn’t be having this conversation. If we are going to be successful moving forward, we are going to need to be open to people who don’t share all of our opinions and be willing to give some people a second or third chance.
In closing, I hate seeing comments that automatically insult or reject someone or someone’s opinion just because it is different. I am not saying we need to compromise, we just need to be objective. We need to realize that people can change and if they are in the process of waking up welcome and help them.

It's not Beck's latest
It's not Beck's latest public opinions that make him suspect in my eyes, although his five point pledge is neocon scary. It's his former public opinions, and (importantly) his employer. Murdock is infamous for controlling every utterance on Fox News.
How do I reconcile that with my trust in Napolitano? The judge has always been consistent, and he is quarantined in a backwater of the Fox infotainment complex. That's the best I can come up with.
I think...
there needs to be a lot more thinking and less attacking on this site as of late. Assumption without personal research is a dangerous combination.
Clarification
I would like to clarify. The purpose of my post was not to defend Glenn Beck or the mainstream media. The purpose of my post was to question the way we respond to those with differing opinions. I was simply using Glenn as the highest profile example.
My point is that we can’t immediately assume that anyone that doesn’t agree completely with us is part of some conspiracy. Some people are simply going to disagree with us on some points. And some people are just plain ignorant and havn’t “woken up “ yet. Just because they don’t agree with all of your ideas doesn’t make the evil or of mal intent.
I have seen someone simply post an opposing view point in a forum post and 5 or 6 guys accuse him of being a government plant. We have to at least be rational when responding to people of other opinions. We have to be rational when considering information and people in the mainstream. They can’t logically all be evil or in on some vast conspiracy. Most of them are just average people who don’t know any better or are doing what they need to get by.
We can’t afford to alienate people that are in the process of waking up. We also can’t afford to make ourselves look paranoid by accusing everyone of being in on the conspiracy.
Glen BECK
isn't waking up. He's PAID $50,000,000 a year by Rupert Murdoch to be the pied piper. HIS WORDS ARE SCRIPTED.. GET THAT THROUGH YOUR BRAIN.
Oh and a football huddle is a conspiracy.. Please don't be one of those coincidence theorist that think Talk show hosts aren't scripted.

Beck's new book is called "Arguing With Idiots"
What does that say about him? He's being condescending and insulting. His attitude alienates people. Just look at his picture on the cover.
See here:

I am immediately turned off to what he has to say in his book, by the title and the photo. Not to mention what I've witnessed watching his "show". And make no mistake about it, it is just a show.
Can you imagine Dr Paul calling his book "End the Idiotic Fed"?
No, because he has class, integrity and tact. And a high degree of intelligence. Something Glenn Beck is sorely lacking.
Brother, Fox is not about the truth
Research the owner of Fox. Be careful with the use of the term 'conspiracy."
The men in power use the term to discredit the truth.
The fed is privately owned....now that is ok relative to the term "conspiracy" as it is a criminal conspiracy.
You don't agree that the fed is privately owned and the media won't report on it?
Do your research, brother.

The above links are about 1% of the research I have done in the last 24 months. You suggest be "open minded," I agree!
If you read ANY of it you will see how irrelevant Beck is.....just a fly on the window pane.
BTW this thread will die a quick death so read up!

As soon as Beck
Stops getting paid 50,000,000 a year or loses his job for not going with the script is when I'll take what he has to say seriously.

Reserving judgment
When Glenn Back starts calling for an end to the Fed, an end to fiat money, ending the Patriot Act, dismantling the world empire, and ending the drug war, THEN I will say "Welcome Aboard". But as far as I have seen (and I admit I don't watch him regularly), the things he really focuses on are fully consistent with the neo-con off-year playbook:
1. bash the democrats
2. shake your fist at government waste
3. say scary things about foreigners
4. shake your fist at high taxes
5. shake your fist at the deficit
So, in my opinion, he has not done anything to make me think he is not just a neo-con shill wearing the typical neo-con off-year disguise (albeit in brighter colors) and when the time comes, he will endorse neo-con candidates.
I am currently reserving my judgment.
I fully agree with your statement
This man works for Ruppert Murdoch. Anyone who has researched Murdoch understands what Beck is about.
Anyone who has spent 10 minutes looking at Fox News realizes that it is a mind control mechanism. The fear messages are relentless.
The fed is privately owned. The owners are behind all of the problems we face today.
50% of our taxes go to pay the interest on our phony debt.
Once Mr. Beck recites the names of the families who control the central banks of the world and demands their arrest for sedition, then I will know that he is about TRUTH.
Until then? He is a liar who is paid to hold up the lie.
When the lie falls Beck will be in prison.....he can rant at the guards....poor guards.

There is value to litmus tests, though, if you know what you are
testing for.
I test for a love of truth. There is no way one can love truth and support the official 9-11 story. Furthermore, I have seen the NWO allow people to expose various aspects of their scheme, yet they always draw the line at the same place: One must NEVER associate the Zionists with 9-11. You can even question 9-11, but if you bring up the Israeli's that were there "to film the event" you are suddenly a racist, or anti-semite, or just crazy.
I cherish truth. Those who will earn MY support in 2010 will have to show they cherish truth also. They MUST be willing to question 9-11 AND be willing to talk about Zionism without pretending that is a racism issue. So far, no one has my support except Kokesh.
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.
Thank you
for putting what I have been trying to say for weeks in such clear text.
Bump for being reasonable and realistic.

Common sense with truth is something to laugh at, oruval?
Not in my book. P.S. I'm not buying GB's book, either. LOL
Misunderstood.
Were he alive today. Thomas Paine would laugh because there is little to no common sense today. Thanks to TV and the educational system as well as the laziness oil has granted modern humanity.
