frustrated
Submitted by b4thetruthalways on Mon, 12/03/2007 - 19:25okay.. just want to vent and see what people think....
My hubby also likes Ron Paul... but he says I am not being real thinking that Ron Paul has a shot.... uuurrrgh!! I think he does... my hubby says that this cause is great and all .... but if we don't make it about the movement then "all this" will die after Ron Paul is gone. Why? He says because people get frustrated and dissappointment sets in and people quit. I sorta see his point because there has been some other candidates in the past that did well right off the bat and had some similar ideas and then puckered out. My hubby says that we needed to start all this like 4 years ago. Or maybe start now and find out who Dr. Paul is mentoring and start supporting that guy for 2012. He says the likes of Beck and Limbog and Handittome has a huge impact on the Gop people and that is going to be hard to break. We didn't leave us enough time to really spread the word and message. I get frustrated becuase at times I see this and at others I think .... this is going to be a shocker when Ron Paul takes it all.... please tell me we have enough time.....
then the other thing is this.... I am a stay at home-schooling mom of 5 beautiful chiildren. I have limited income......My hubby works 2 jobs and we have 1 vehicle... I am so excited but I feel like I am one of those people that is sitting back and watching all the work be done for me... how can I make a difference... how can I help? I don't want to be a taker I want to be a part of the great REVOLUTION!!!!!

When I joined the Revolution :)
When I joined the Revolution, I was a young child in a homeschooling family with 5 children, my Dad worked 2 jobs, and there was only 1 family vehicle. My Mom recruited me to to help her put up yard signs, and stuff envelopes for a candidate who was running for Mayor of our city. She taught me how to research candidates, and to vote for whoever best represents our beliefs, and fights for our liberties (despite media hype and poll standings). My Mom volunteered for that campaign for several election cycles, working from our home... even though that Candidate never won an election.
That was when I joined the Revolution. The Revolution is about political activism, patriotism, and voting for what you belive in... despite the odds.
My Mom knew that the future of the Revolution lied with me... Today, the future of the Revolution lies with your children. It's not just about Ron Paul... like he said, he's just happy to be part of it :)
You Can Make Telephone Calls
I read that the campaign in New Hampshire is giving blocks of telephone numbers that people can call, so that might be an option for you from your own home.
Don't know if this is current information, even though I read it only a few days ago, because I got a recorded message today from Carol Paul, so maybe they're using that message instead of having individual people call.
If you're interested, just call the campaign.
When I "joined" the revolution
I looked at the donors in November (around the 15th or so ) on ronpaulgraphs.
There were 86,000 (NEW donors for the quarter) I said wow ...
NOW there are over 122,767 unique donors. 37,767 donors in about 1/2 months. It's been going up How many new donors are waiting for the Teaparty? How many (and I know of at least 4 -people who are voting for Ron Paul but would never donate to a campaign - I didn't ask them to - I just asked them to vote for him) are not donating but are resolved to vote for Ron Paul. My mother can't donate she's on SS (don't get me started on that program b/c if they had let my mom and dad put SS money way in a bank account she would HAVE been able to max out her donation to Ron... ERRRH - sorry I digress) ... I have talked at least 12 people into voting for Ron Paul - and I know that several of them are talking to others. I've voted Republican for the last 18 years ... We are taking this nomination and we are taking our party BACK. Also, you're not alone, my sister is busy at her work and she's writing letters from VA to send to 100 Iowa voters right now at night! There's all sorts of stuff we can do! AND MOST importantly tell your husband Dr. PAUL will win. He needs to vote and have him put a bumper sticker on his car ... or a Ron Paul sign in his back window ... the more cars people see with Ron Paul on them the more people will say HEY he has support. I know EVERYONE hates Bumper stickers - I DO - I still have one on my car ... - When Ron Paul's President - in one year of savings that he won't tax and the money I get from reduced/or even eliminated income tax - I can get A new set of wheels! But mostly - tell your husband to Tell others HE CAN win! - WHY CAN'T he? Ask your husband - DO any of the other Candidates have this many supporters donating to their campaigns? Do any other candidates even have people talking to their neighbors and families and friends saying YES you can VOTE for Ron Paul and HE can WIN? No they have PAC money - that's not votes!
"Many of us agree that you and I have no right to use coercion against people who don't owe us anything. The same prohibition applies to groups of people who constitute the government. The reason is simple: unjust acts do not become just when legalized. "
Hang Tough
Hang in there...every day mention the name Ron Paul to 10 people...help them find information about him...However I disagree with the previous comment about the Libertarian Party being hopeless...maybe you had a bad experience, but many of the positions Dr Paul takes are libertarian positions...Indeed, about 40% of Americans take libertarian positions without even knowing...just imagine if the Libertarian candidate (whoever it may be) got 40% of the general vote!!! I believe we would be a more free nation, taxes would be down, there would be no more government school indoctrination, we would have sound money, etc...So I very much will work very hard to get a fellow physician elected president (Dr Ron Paul), and I do personally hope he runs as a 3rd party if he doesn't get the republican nomination, but if these two do not happen then I will encourage everyone here to vote what they truly believe in...and I hope it will be the Libertarian Party...

Your Husband aint no prophet!
Ron Paul can win. The best way to keep the movement going is to educate and reach more and more people.
Explain that this is important to you and his negative comments are not helpful. He is most likely jelouse and it is a knee jerk reaction to discourage you from your attention toward the good doctor.
Anyway, The best way to cure the frustration is for your husband to be positive and supportive right now. If he can't do that then explain that his attitude is hurtful and you will refuse to discuss Dr. Paul with him and then use your womanly wiles to drive the point home.
Either he is 100% with you on this or you are alone. If that is the case then you don't want to speak to him at all and you may not be that inclined to cooking or feel like having sex either.
There...
is plenty of time. And don't feel guilty about your role in this Revolution just keep on spreading the word. Ron Paul is like stumbling across an honest car salesman or mechanic for that matter. Like a cop that pays his own tickets. A man with ideas that he's not willing to comprimise. Time to put the right people in office and get rid of the criminals.

Your husband is wrong
I have been doing the campaigning thing for along time. Was on Reagan's campaign and I can tell you Ron Paul has the same momentum and excitement that Reagan had. Ron Paul will win, and yes the movement or cause is very important and should be a force that is built in and of itself.
Husband of Ron Paul Devotee
Hang in there and tell your husband that we will be here after the primaries. Tell him to help Ron Paul get more votes and he will be that much closer to victory. Perservance is the only way to overcome these polls. Stand strong for principles and encourage your hubby to do the same.
Agreed
I am doing everything to help Paul get elected- that is priority #1. However, I agree that the movement has to hold together afterwards whatever the outcome.
Prior, I tried joining the Libertarian Party- and they are hopeless. Paul has shown the way- we have to organize within the GOP and change them from within. This is much more productive than lobbing grenades from a 3rd party. Our system of winner-take-all democracy essentially requires us to choose sides and press our view from within. I hope Paul leads some PAC that we can all get behind and keep serving as a countervailing force to the Neocons.
Libertarian Party
I agree with the comment about the Libertarians (at least from my own experience). When I joined several years ago, their major issue seem to be the promotion of medicinal marijuana: obviously one of the hot button issues of our time. Maybe that's changed, but my feeling is we'd have a better chance helping the Republican Party return to its roots than trying to build up a third party
Future of the Revolution
This movement has to be bigger than one man if it's to survive. I've seen other maverick candidates (John Anderson and Ross Perot) get a lot of media attention, and then fade just as quickly as they came on the scene. In particular, let's not forget the too brief history of the Reform Party created in Ross Perot's wake that showed so much promise and dissolved into petty bickering among its various factions. Also, Ron Paul IS 72 years old, so at the very most he's going to be a 1 term president. Those of us who want to see the revolution survive are going to have to follow Dr. Paul's lead and work within the structure of the two party system to bring about the changes we want to see. It feels good to belong to one of the reactionary third parties, but do we really want to change things or just feed our own egos that we're defying "the man". I, for one, intend to run for precinct delegate in August 2008, and will be more involved in the future in Republican politics than I've every been. I believe that a small number of us, if we're committed, can make the changes Dr. Paul espouses permanent, but we're going to have to be patient. It took the neocons 40 years to take over the Republican Party. This is not a short term commitment, but we've got to do it: for our country, for our children, and for ourselves.
rustrated, but seeing a bright future and...
...keeping a big view of Ron and this effort to get him elected. We really do need to keep up this momentum after Super Tuesday and beyond. We need to think that even if he doesn't get elected, what we've got here are at least several million people interested in his ideas. We need to keep all these connections that we've developed during Ron's campaign and use them to grow the movement. The meetups should keep meeting-up and work to create state-based freedom movements with a strong libertarian / constitutionalist focus. We need to be on hand to oppose state governments when they infringe the rights of their citizens. Right now we have a very loosely organized national movement. It's a good start and we should build it up into a more formal mass movement for freedom that might be a sustainable third-party movement. That is, if we can't succeed in reforming Republicanism from within. If we keep our heads up and look past the election to the success of our ideas, then we can work to change the country.

Maybe you should print a copy of this thread and present it to your Hubby.
Just think, you'll be able to say, "I told ya so", about mid-January. Sounds like a good oppurtunity for you to make a couple of very winnable bets too.
Dissipate the frustration by taking action.

Hang in there. We are all here for you.
My husband is more fired up most of the time than I am, so I'm sure he understands how you feel. I find the only thing I need lately is to look at my two beautiful children and imagine the contrasts among the other candidates, and how not electing Ron Paul will affect their future. I understand the one vehicle thing, too. My husband has a fairly decent job, but we have one car. He posted in my name a brief editorial *FLASH* Ron Paul is electable. I am not sure if it is still accessible, but you can search my posts for it, I think.

We are going to Win.
Ok, I gotta make it quick because I am busy doing real work to get RP elected like tens of thousands of other real and dedicated volunteers. I am actually out in the public for Ron Paul. Check out my YouTube Channel:http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=airborne373
I can tell you that we are on the path to victory. Get out and talk with the people you will have certainty too. Join a meetup today. They are great fun.
I met some really great new people over the weekend. This Ron Paul rEVOLution is bringing us together.

The Real World
With six children, we are very close to what is happening in the real world while our leaders have therir head in the sand. two approaches are to stay with the status quo and at some time, I believe in the next 120 days to two years, everything collapses including the value of the dollar, athough a 60% drop in the last few years is nothing to sneeze at.
My age is 74 and I might squeeze through the mess we are headed for, but certainly my kids, (6) and grandchildren (12) don't really know the score and they are facing total anniliation, but are so busy surviving on a day to day basis that they are not up to speed how this administration has provided them a path to destruction. Since I'm not a wage earner any more, I'm limited. However, as an old goat I can't but love our leader, Dr. Paul. Whether he can pull it off is certainly questionable, but think about it, his supporters, hopefully many of which will find their way in the Ron Paul Administration, can be a big help.
I'm 74 with a major heart condition. In speaking to my brother today, said that I wish I could breathe better so I could be part of the 1000 helpers in New Hampshire later this month. We have a great new young leader. who apparently gave up a nice job at one of the premier US Companies to help Ron Paul and is leading the effort to get 1000 supporters to New Hampshire for the period one or two weeks prior to the primary and needs some fininancial help, which I'll do, certainly much more than the $5.00 he is asking for.
I used to play golf, which I have given up, but I'm having more fun following Ron Paul and this message board. Have converted at least ten people
to the love of Ron Paul. Last week was in Vegas for an annual Thanksgiving trip (Best time of the year for good deals). met with an old friend, who has been very successful. Convinced him to join me at the Ron Paul rally at UNLV. We were having a great time talking about old times, I had not seen him or his wife in ten years and they drove up from Scottsdale, and they had no interest in attending the rally. I hung in and convinced them that this would be one of the great times of their life.
Result, one rally, the guy is very much into commodities, currencies etc. and has some nice clients, thanked me for the invitation and said and I subsequently sent him the how to that him and his wife were going to donate $4600 to the Ron Paul Campaign and a few days later I called to give him how to do it and he said that he had convinced another buddy to also make the $4600 donation.
I do all the other things with waiters on the tip program, plus any body that I get Eye contact with, I reach into my left Hand back pocket, which has the Ron Paul part very visible and say have you heard about Ron Paul.
Had my first rejection at a Boston Market where the nice lady that was halping me put together an order, threw my slim Jim back at me and told me her husband was servimg in the military and she was voting for JulieAnnie. It was a long line and I wanted to talk to her but she almost seemed violent in her feeling. I backed off, wimp, me, and did not follow through and on the way home tried to figure out what I could have said, other than "You have convictions and although I think that Ron Paul is a better answer to a Military Family I can't find something to say on a short line. Had I had an understanding wife, I might have invited her for lunch.
Simple Answer, Tom
to the Boston Market gal... Ron Paul will bring your loved one home, immediately! What more could she want? He is also the candidate who has worked the hardest to make sure that our veterans are better taken care of at home. Thank you for your dedication to the cause!
Tom Mac's post
That is a commendable post Tom. I appreciate your frankness, insight and energy. I'm a 50 year old baby boomer and my motivation in this campaign is more for my children and my grandkid and the younger folks of this country. This is off of the topic, but I wanted to post it here, to your post.
I talked to my 24 year old daughter this weekend about Ron Paul (she's still on the fence with Obama, takes after her mom, we're divorced). I told her that of everything I have ever done or will do for her, the most important thing I felt I could ever do, would be to get Ron Paul voted into office and keep the fires lit on this rEVOLution.
My Dad is 74 years old. He and I have had some very, ummm, spirited and passionate talks over the last few weeks (he was in Mitt's camp). It got so crazy one day, that my mom asked me to take my RP notes and come back the next day (my Dad and I are famous in our family for our raucous political talk). Finally, my Dad saw the light! He has gone crazy for RP! I thought I was a rabid fan, nope, my Pop is a Ron Paul freak now! My Mom can't get him off of the computer campaigning and he has also maxed out on the campaign donations and will do the other $2300 of my Mom's on the 16th. He wants to ride in the RP Blimp. My Mom told me he sent off for $200 worth of RP gear this past weekend. I only pray that I didn't push him over the edge. I'm waiting to see him pop up on a YouTube video hugging RP and leading a cheer.
So, for anyone to think that RP does not have a chance, I think I can safely say that your'e wrong. These stories only go to show how important it is to talk to people (yell, once in a while) and keep up the fight for the most important election of all of our lifetimes.
Ron Paul 2008!
Thanks
When you bare your soul it is never easy. I love your response and hopefully some day we'll meet. Its going to be a tough campaign for all of us , but we really are on track with the best message. I've had a bad cold since I got back from Vegas but hopefully by mid or the end of this week I'll be back on track. My brother, he's 76, but with a lot more energy. Our plan is to get with our Meet Up Group here in South Florida and carry signs and be anything whatsoever to help the campaign. I'll almost do anything, lots of basic talent but do not want to lead anymore, both of us will be soldiers in the fight for Dr. Ron Paul.
I can't tell you about the goose pimples I had when I met Dr. Paul at the Ft. Lauderdale Debate and afterwards at a local rally. I'm a nutso and I love Ron Paul and all of his supporters. It is really a blast and I'm a very easy going guy.
Serious business to get Ron Paul in the game, but more importantely, I know I'm having fun, always a good athlete, but never top draw, and I feel in this situation I'm top draw along with so many other Ron Paul Supporters.
The MSM doesn't even comprehend what's happening, they are in a deep hole and they will wake up after New Hampshire wondering why they missed the second half of the football game.
Thanks again for your nice comments
You rock Tom.....
This is all going to make such a difference that we don't even know the great things on the horizon for liberty and Dr. Paul.

some more subtle than others. You and your husband are doing your part by keeping your babies home and schooling them in truth and what it takes to be a good human being. You are not sending them off to federal funded school to learn how to be a good slave. What you are doing with your children is creating the Ron Pauls of the future (or Ronettes if they're of the feminine persuasion ;} ). Keep on doing what your doing, do what you can and we'll take care of the rest.

We need EVERYONE to help get Ron's name (& principles) out there
We need every commited supporter to become active in some way. ".... we'll take care of the rest." Who's we? The truth is that campaigning is fun!--even for the introvert. People listen when a supporter "steps outside the box" and takes a principled/logical stand. People in cars have honked and given me a thumbs up when I've planted yard signs. Folks you're talking to are more likely than not to register an approving nod or handshake or clink of the glasses when you come out for something you believe in. Frustrated: talk to your friends and family about Ron Paul. Have them google him.
Government is supposed to protect our freedom, our property, our privacy, not invade it. Ron Paul 2007
Did you catch the part....
where I said do what you can. I'm not the type to try and make a person feel guilty for doing what they can. Wouldn't it be great though if she sent her kids off to public school so she could follow a whole bunch of single childless people around the country leaving her husband to work 2 jobs and raise the kids in his spare time?

I feel your frustration and
I feel your frustration and I have even posted a suggestion on this site but it was removed--I guess because it interfered with message at hand. Anyway, I'm not bitter about it, because I should've realized that most people don't like to plan beyond what is in front of them.
The movement is strong but how how strong nobody knows. There are still A LOT of skeptical and clueless people out there that have either misunderstood the message, just don't know, or just don't care.
You sound like a busy mother so obviously you have your limitations. The best the thing you can do is to get the word out to people in your general reach and hope they take up the cause and jump in the movement. What you need to do is to find a family member, neighbor, friend's kid who has the time, ambition, and positive motivation to fill in where you can't. Someone who'll be so inspired that they can rally a team to stand on a corner to get the word out.
All it takes is one Saturday on a busy corner in your town to inspire the right person to keep things moving.
Maybe your husband's right, maybe time is not on our side, but maybe he's wrong. At this point nobody knows who gets the message and who doesn't. We are in an unfortunate vacuum when it comes to the mainstream but, to be honest, that's the excitement of it all--for me at least. If it wasn't such an uphill battle then it would be so crucial and important. People are inspired with the challenge and that's what makes it so great.
Obviously the entire situation is effecting you and this is what is keeping the message alive. The trick is to find more people and to get them "hooked" on the message and the fight. It's not impossible but it does take a certain amount patience, fortitude, persistence, and creativity.
Stay positive, ignore the negativity, and get creative. All it takes is to light a fire under the right person to keep our flame burning bright. They're out there, we just have to find them....
Oh, just remember, time isn't on our sides but when is it ever?
Good luck.

Last week I drove from Chicago to Nashville and back. Ron Paul signs are EVERYWHERE!! I saw them on the cars of college kids, seniors, Mercedes, and pick up trucks. This campaign is real. I am a political junkie. I have never seen anything like it. Elections are about money. Ron Paul has the money to be competitive, the positions to win, and the supporters who are engaged, passionate, and determined. There is no Republican front runner. It may only take 25-30% to win New Hampshire. This is not only possible but I think very likely. To all the political hacks in DC and across the country...hold on to your seats it is going to be a very bumpy ride!!!!
