Glenn Beck and Left-Right Confusion

This is not a bad article by a liberal explaining the present political situation. It's not about left-right or Democrat-Republican.
It's about those on the outside opposing those on the inside. It's about the people v the elites. The elites being D.C., Wall Street, etc.
It's not about Glenn Beck or any commentator. Sometimes he gets it right , sometimes wrong.
Anyone who puts party before issues is a hack. That's why I stopped listening to Rush. His conservative principles took a backseat to support for G W Bush and the Republican Party.
The same can be said about the other side, like MSNBC who had decent commentary as long as Bush was in office. Now it's pro-Obama, all the time.
The Ron Pauls of the world are rare, honest people who put truth above party.

Excellent honest reporting. One thing is clear (or not so clear); this is all very confusing. Greenwald pulls information like a sponge and recognizes the almost infinite perspectives fueling this movement. Its not all about Paul and its not all about Beck. The grassroots hold the reigns in this movement. Where we go, some will follow, some will stay the course, and some will jump ship. It is all too easy as the few of you who have expressed, to disregard this article and others as promoting so and so's agenda. Greenwald has certainly taken the words right out of my mouth. I am confident in believing that he has read the blogs and understands the complexity of this issue, the players, and what is at stake, in order to write about the real deal. No assumptions, just the truth. Those that disagree should read this again and then again. Nuff said.

Wow, I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been listening to Rush off and on now for 20 years and now it becomes perfectly clear what he is: nothing but a paid mouth that makes millions off our country being divided! He will say NOTHING about Ron Paul, the new movement or the historical events now taking place because a third party that represents UNITY of the American people would put an end to his career. Ron Paul, as an educated man, congressmen and true constitutionalist would no doubt steal Rush’s thunder and make him look like the out-dated, money mongering, arrogant talking head he is. I continue to listen to Rush, more to be amazed than anything, to see that he still will not touch on core issues that threaten our freedom like The Fed. What happens this Friday with Ron Paul's hearing is nothing less than historical!! Yet Rush says nothing about it, as it will lead back to his number one threat: Ron Paul! It is our job to awaken those who still slumber as our country faces its darkest night.

is sometimes perfectly accurate and thorough, and I really appreciate that. But given his intelligence, I am all the more shocked when he engages in standard party rhetoric.
So I am completely behind him when he criticizes the tea parties and 9/12 movement for seeming to lack a cohesive message. However, Greenwald is wrong when he says the ONLY thing that motivates those movements is a "hatred for Barack Obama." That makes all the people who attended the movements nothing but "haters." And that simply isn't true.

I just read this more thoroughly and I got the quote wrong above, it was "Barack Obama is bad."
Reading further along in the article, Greenwald clarifies, "It's true that some of the protesters believe in nothing more than Republican resurgence, and that this movement has become a tool of Fox and the GOP. But much of the citizen anger that is driving these protests and which Glenn Beck is channeling is more complex than that. It has far more to do with deep economic anxieties and anger towards the political establishment and its elites than it does allegiance to one of the two parties or standard left-right debates."
I took that as non-personal hate for most
Kinda like when you say "I hate the Baltimore Ravens", its not "hatred" which he does not say, just a strong dislike of his politcal positions, and actions in government.
There he is correct, all groups are opposed to the actions of his administration. Some are Haters, but not that many.

My guess is the reason there's no cohesive message
is the American people are not cohesive. There's a wide range of opinion that things are not right, but little understanding of why.
Of course that's where the Ron Paul Revolution comes in.
My biggest concern is the hack establishment Republicans, who have no principles other than they should be in power, will worm their way into leadership roles and drain away credibility. Dick Armey being on the stage of a Tea Party event being interviewed was sickening. He should have been sent packing.

There is a huge divide in the TP movement. Those of us who believe in RP's message, and the neocons. Right now, we're winning, but it won't be easy with Newt Gingrich and Dick Armey using these as their own personal 2012 campaign tools.
