WSJ: Palin, Sounding Like Ron Paul, Takes on the Fed

By Alex Frangos | WSJ.com

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin fired a shot at the Federal Reserve in her coming-out speech in Hong Kong today, blaming the central bank for the current crisis and disagreeing with the idea that the Fed should have a greater role in preventing the next crisis. It was an echo of fellow Republican and Texas congressman Ron Paul, who has led the charge in Congress to perform an audit of the Federal Reserve with an eye to eventually eliminating it.

“How can we discuss reform without addressing the government policies at the root of the problems? The root of the collapse? And how can we think that setting up the Fed as the monitor of systemic risk in the financial sector will result in meaningful reform?” she said. “The words ‘fox’ and ‘henhouse’ come to mind. The Fed’s decisions helped create the bubble. Look at the root cause of most asset bubbles, and you’ll see the Fed somewhere in the background.”

More generally, Mrs. Palin took the tack that the financial crisis occurred because government got in the way of free enterprise.

“Lack of government wasn’t the problem, government policies were the problem. The marketplace didn’t fail. It became exactly as common sense would expect it to,” she said. “The government ordered the loosening of lending standards. The Federal Reserve kept interest rates low. The government forced lending institutions to give loans to people who as I say, couldn’t afford them. Speculators spotted new investment vehicles, jumped on board and rating agencies underestimated risks. So many to be blamed on so many different levels, but the fact remains that these people were responding to a market solution created by government policies that ran contrary to common sense,” she said.

I like Sarah

IMO many have been trained by the MSM to despise her. The MSM hate her and are terrified of her because she is genuine. She may be lacking in sophistication, but to me, that's an asset. As she becomes more familiar with the Liberty Movement she could become a major player. It takes awhile to crawl out of the "republican" cocoon and realize that the party is just a label and not an identity. She may be doing just that. I don't believe that Sarah Palin is a Bob Barr style troll.

I like Sarah too

But don't get me wrong here... I like her personality.

I have a problem with her AMAZING rise to political power. Alaska is an eceptionally powerful state, so how did a PTA Mom grab all that oil, gold, lumber, fish and HAARP from the most conservative hard ball players north of the Canadian border? From PTA to Governor!! Wow.

As a woman I adored how Sarah Palin made Hillary Clinton look like she's been an idiot sacrificing and capitalizing on the Democratic Party, because "poof" Here's Sarah Palin, PTA Mom and Govenor of the MASSIVE state of Alaska.

I'm positive I was not alone in political addicits who said Sarah who? WTF???

So as much as I like and admire Sarah... I know she did not get to where she is without help, and my guess is that help is NEOCON, like McCain, who outted the conservatives in Alaska to put in Palin.

She's a puppet and a damn good one, so I like her... I like Obama. But I wouldn't vote for either of them.

WE ARE GOING TO WIN!

Oh don't tell me

that Palin has now taken the position of Bob Barr on the list to the right here.

"And where did you learn about the Fed, Sarah?"

"Oh you know, from the place you learn stuff and things and all." "School?
"Well, I'm very supportive of education and the learning." No, where did you learn about the Fed? "Did you see my new shoes?"
If you think Sarah Palin represents you or isn't part of the establishment, you are simply retarded. Sorry, but you need to break the trance and come back to reality. What if Dick Cheney started "taking on the fed"? Would you be like, "Cheney's waking up, that's great--Paul/Cheney 2012?"
I'm afraid you would.

Anyone who reads that

Anyone who reads that article and stumbles on to the comments section should be welcomed with an overwhelming number of comments in support of Ron Paul & Palin following Ron Paul's leadership. Just another way to spread the message, reinforce good actions by politicians as well as promoting our favorite member of Congress.

...

Sorry to Burst...

the "BUBBLE", she is one of THEM! Don't trust her.

BTW, is anyone else noticing that the "establishment" (except BO), are exposing more and more of the FED? Is anyone wondering why the hearing will happen tomorrow? Well I'm very suspicious.

Think about this: Would the US FED be sacrificed for a GLOBAL FED? Hell yes. Could this be the plan? Looks like it to me. If the shenanigans of the FED are exposed, could Americans revolt? Maybe. Is that what they want? Probably.

Interesting.
Say YES to Dr. NO

Say YES to Dr. NO

That's what I've been saying all along

The only thing that will "save us" from the Fed is the IMF. Kills two birds with one stone, and the people will appear to have begged for it.

Right on

.

But she's such a ding dong.

But she's such a ding dong.

It's never too late...

For Palin, or any other Elected Official to have a "come to the R3volution awakening". I think it's encouraging that she's talking about ending the Federal Reserve (maybe she reads Dr.Pauls book?) Maybe she's been studying up on the real issues, and is changing direction? Maybe she's seen the light?

Just because she didn't talk about it during the election, or had a different view of at that time, doesn't mean she hasn't moved into another chapter does it?

Maybe her new recognition of the "FED" will get enough attention, that other Politicians will start to study the subject.

I personally think Sarah Palin is a good person, with good family values, and a true love for America, and Capitalism.

Lets give the woman a chance, perhaps she's been lurking at the Daily Paul :)

What about the family value

What about the family value of mass murder that she supports in Iraq?

By the way, welcome to the forum! We sure do have a lot of relatively new posters these days. Its good to see and very encouraging.

Ventura 2012

That's an awefully lot of maybe's.

Personally, I will give her a chance when she comes right out and says, I used to think that, now I think this. When she clears up her maybes.

I'd not be surprised if she's getting help behind the scenes.

I'll bet Cato folks have been having meetings with her.

If Palin ever wants my vote

then she needs to embrace what Dr.Paul has been saying..she needs to truly start to understand whats really going on here....Until that day comes..forget it...cause right now it just seems like shes jumping on the RP bandwagon...

Freedom is another way to God...A corrupt government is a straight way to hell.

I believe in Hope & Change..I Hope the government will Change

Well said......

Couldn't agree more.

-Looks around-

When did this place become the daily Palin?

Lots of Republicans

take their cues from Palin, especially the young men and the ladies. It's crazy, but what she's saying is finally something that actually MAKES sense. This can only be a good thing for changing the political landscape, as she is either looking at the political landscape shifting and is seeing where the tides are turning, and simultaneously, she can bring in these ideas, which are really Ron Paul's and our ideas into the very core of the red side of the aisle. Let's just face facts, most mainstream republicans love her. This can only be a good thing. She's doing our work for us, and it's a vessel they can accept. You know, since we're all such crazy lunatic radicals here. He he... ^_^ GO RAND GO!!!

Right!

Nine out of ten geniuses posting on this topic have the approximate outreach potential of a pit viper. They would rather fight than befriend.

Levi Johnston to the rescue!

At just the right moment Levi Johnston will ride in on his white snowmobile wearing his gleaming snowmobile suit and "spill the beans" on the "hockey mom".

Why are we focusing on Sarah Palin

As I recall, in the last election, Sarah Palin was a very pro-war, pro-Patriot Act partisan politician. Now she is talking about about the central bank and lack of government involvement? Tell that to the oil companies who forked over all that cash to meet their windfall profits tax obligations.

I think we are getting way too many stories about Sarah Palin. I think the woman's lack of knowledge is toxic.

F.U. Sarah Palin.........

Talk about a puppet. She doesn't have an original thought in her head.

Do you repel all who show an interest in libertarian ideas?

Are you an agent hired to make sure the R3volution doesn't grow? If not, what would you be doing differently if you were? Think about it. And don't underestimate the power of an idea whose time has come. Consider being part of the process.

New Hampshire and Ecuador

No ........

But She is a fake and does more damage by poorly representing the movement. She is a political joke for a reason. What has she done to prove she has libertarian ideas?...examples please.....Saying I'm a libertarian doesn't mean anything if your policies don't reflect it. What is to like about her? The revolution is going to grow and we certainly don't a crappy politician like her on our team.

There are many around here

who whether knowingly or not troll on articles such as this. They would have us and our ideas remain at the fringes of the American society rather than allow them to spread to the mainstream. Why? They may be provocateurs or they might be afraid of what will inevitably will happen because they are too afraid to get out there and mix it up with their neighbors. Yes! This movement is spreading and many former enemies are sounding more and more like allies. They are taking their legions of followers and steering them to our ideas. If you sit on your ass like I will wager you have done, they will be co-opted just like the Democrats co-opted the anti-war movement. Any movement where the grassroots allow an ever growing population of new supporters take the reigns will always lead to a watered down movement. If you don't want this, recognize like the rest of us that their leaders are talking about the same issues as we are. Tell them where those ideas came from. Then let them know what we are all about and why everyone wants a piece of our action. Stop whining whenever Palin or Beck are discussed on a political blog! If you want to stay ignorant then don't get your news from this site. Many of us are thankful for the wealth of resources that we are able to find posted by the vast community of people and ideas here.

I agree completely. You hit the nail on the head.

"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle." ~ Sun Tzu, The Art of War

Is she a puppet?

This throws me. My first reaction is that she is just saying that to get people like the Ron Paul supporters to back her, then not do anything because she is a puppet of the NWO. That would be my worst fear. If she is really behind what she says then maybe we need to give her a second look.

The view from Palin's home state

She is a puppet.
The local GOP power-folks were SOOOOOO eager to sell Palin to the RP delegates, they were nearly drooling. They really thought they had their bait for us... and I think they still believe that but are trying a different fishing pole.

Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.

A disliked puppet.

A disliked puppet.

No thanks!

Palin is a fair weather politician. She should have rejected the invitation of teaming up with that Democrat McCain.

And then we would have NO ONE making these arguments...

People, stop denigrating her...she's got a ways to go but she's more libertarian oriented than just about anybody else on the national stage ....
