I don't know if he's a good man or a bad man, but this bothers me.
He accidently shot himself in the leg in New York City. He violated their gun control law by not having the firearm registered, it was undocumented.
They made this man look like some terrible criminal when the law is a reflection of their culture.
Mayor Bloomberg was on TV expressing his outrage. I thought what a phony! I'm sure there are lot of firearms protecting him.
People said with Plaxico's money he could have hired protection if necessary. The conclusion being only the rich may protect themselves. And if anyone thinks NYC is giving out permits like candy to anyone who asks, better think again.
I thought what if Plaxico played for the Dallas Cowboys and the incident had happened there? I know the mayor of Dallas wouldn't have gone on TV condemning a Cowboy, not if he wanted to keep his job.
In Texas he'd have probably been fined and that would have been the end of it.
Plaxico Burress broke the law in NYC and now will pay the price. Two years is a long time for shooting yourself in the leg without a permit, but sobeit.
But I do wish the media would quit dumping on him like he committed some terrible crime.
His attorney said he's not a criminal, but sometimes non-criminals still go to prison.
Again I just wish the media would stop being holier than thou in their condemnation to protect the Anti-Second Amendment culture of NYC. There I got it off my chest.
In Texas we would have just called him an idiot
for shooting himself and left it at that.

In Kentucky I was in a Restaurant where this exact thing
happened. The owner didn't call the police , just asked him to leave.
I saw his wet pants leg as he left. No big deal, end of story.
Different culture, different outcome.
MAYBE 1 year for reckless

He took a plea bargain. It could have been a lot longer than two years.
Where was the NRA and GOA on this?
This was a victimless crime, Plaxico aside.
Sports celebrities are targets to whackos looking for money or fame, I can't blame him for wanting to bring some protection for himself. All I can blame him for is his lack of training in handling firearms.
Now his wife and children are unprotected from everything.

You're right there's always some punk looking to make
a name for himself. When they took him to jail he was taunted.
He'll probably be kept in a cell by himself.
The best a celebrity or anyone can do is avoid a place where protecting yourself is illegal. Boycott such places.

As a father with 2 small children, that broke my heart... Stupid law and an accident that hurt no one other than himself will make his family suffer....
The only law he could be goulty of is tresspassing
if the owner of the establishment had a sign that read no firearms allowed and he entered with the firearm without autorization.
