Saw this statement on Rand Paul's campaign website:
"Dr. Paul’s campaign crossed the $1,000,000 mark at 8:15pm EDT with a $100 donation from Mr. James Dressman of Southgate, Kentucky."
I predicted Rand's campaign would pass the $1 million mark at 8:15pm EDT based on a consistent donation rate starting around 4pm EDT yesterday afternoon of $125 per minute. That rate held up through 8:15pm EDT yesterday.
But according to my watch, the $1 million mark happened at about 8:06pm EDT. What gives? Can anyone explain the discrepancy?
Not an important topic, I know, but it's got me curious! :)

You generally round up to
You generally round up to the next quarter hour
But...
...on the other hand, the Rand Paul campaign seems pretty explicit about WHO donated to pass the $1 million mark.
So they were precise on WHO, but not on the exact MINUTE of the donation?
I guess I'm still confused!
Okay
It's just weird that I was calculating to the minute and it happened to coincide with a quarter past 8pm EDT. Odd!
Down south we have a saying...
Even a blind hog will find an acorn every once in a while. No offense
No offense taken
But I was using pure mathematics. After 4pm EDT the donation rate per minute since midnight was steady at $125 per minute. So hence the 8:15pm EDT prediction. But according to my clock, $1 million happened at 8:06pm EDT.
Oh, well. Rand made $1 million, so that's what counts!
