OKLAHOMA CITY — Long-secret security tapes showing the chaos immediately after the 1995 bombing of the Oklahoma City federal building are blank in the minutes before the blast and appear to have been edited, an attorney who obtained the recordings said Sunday.
"The real story is what's missing," said Jesse Trentadue, a Salt Lake City attorney who obtained the recordings through the federal Freedom of Information Act as part of an unofficial inquiry he is conducting into the April 19, 1995, bombing that killed 168 people and injured hundreds more.
Trentadue gave copies of the tapes to The Oklahoman newspaper, which posted them online and provided copies to The Associated Press.
The tapes turned over by the FBI came from security cameras various companies had mounted outside office buildings near the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. They are blank at points before 9:02 a.m., when a truck bomb carrying a 4,000 pound fertilizer-and-fuel-oil bomb detonated in front of the building, Trentadue said.
"Four cameras in four different locations going blank at basically the same time on the morning of April 19, 1995. There ain't no such thing as a coincidence," Trentadue said.
He said government officials claim the security cameras did not record the minutes before the bombing because "they had run out of tape" or "the tape was being replaced."
"The interesting thing is they spring back on after 9:02," he said. "The absence of footage from these crucial time intervals is evidence that there is something there that the FBI doesn't want anybody to see."
A spokesman for the FBI in Oklahoma City, Gary Johnson, declined to comment and referred inquiries about the tapes to FBI officials in Washington, who were not immediately available for comment Sunday.
The soundless recordings show people rushing from nearby buildings after the bomb went off. Some show people fleeing through corridors cluttered with debris. None show the actual explosion that ripped through the federal building.
FBI agents did not report finding any security tapes from the federal building itself.
The FBI in the past refused to release the security camera recordings, leading Trentadue and others to contend the government was hiding evidence that others were involved in the attack.
"It's taken a lawsuit and years to get the tapes," Trentadue said.
He received the latest batch of tapes over the summer in response to an April request for video from security cameras in 11 different locations. Nothing on the tapes was unexpected.
"The more important thing they show is what they don't show," Trentadue said. "These cameras would have shown the various roads and approaches to the Murrah Building."

A plausible explanation
The one videotape that has been shown is pointed at the back door of the public library about a block away from the Murrah Bldg. It didn't show any part of the Murrah Bldg and it's not clear what it could have shown for the missing ten or twenty seconds.
Far more likely than any "editing" is that the explosion itself caused a momentary disruption in the power lines, and stuff like computers, security cameras, and other equipment needed a few moments to reset.

"Tapes did not record because of power outage" is a hell of a lot more plausible and less suspicious than four different cameras "running out of tape" at the same time! What reason do they have to cover up a power outage?

This story that "the govt said" that all the cameras were being reloaded or whatever comes from the one guy, Trentadue (sp?), who has an axe to grind. I'd rather hear an explanation from the govt itself than have it filtered through Trentadue.
It is worth nothing that the explosion happened at 9:02, just as some businesses and offices are opening, and that might in fact be a reasonable time for new cassettes to be loaded into security cameras -- but too coincidental for four different systems at the same moment.
Blink or no blink, with or without a good explanation, this Trentadue will not (and, at least in the case of the library cameras, cannot) tell us what those cameras, which did not show the Murrah Bldg to begin with, might have shown in the missing ten seconds or so.

This is just like the Pentagon attack on 9/11, where the FBI confiscated and sequestered all of the video tapes in the area within hours of the attack.
We now know that they did this to cover up the fact that the plane (yes, there WAS a large plane that was seen by all of the witnesses headed toward the Pentagon) did NOT hit the building, but rather flew over while the damage was done with preplanted explosives.
This fact is proven by corroborated eyewitness testimony gathred by two researchers from California called Citizen Investigation Team (CIT) who went to Arlington VA and video recorded interviews with key witnesses with the best vantage points of the final seconds of the plane in flight before the alleged impact.
The witnesses reveal that the plane flew on the north side of the Citgo gas station across the street from the Pentagon, whereas it HAD to be on the south side to hit the light poles that were down and cause the directional damage to the building itself, which is compatible ONLY with a south side.
It was also seen flying away by multiple eyewitness such as Roosevelt Roberts Jr.
For years the FBI refused to release the video tapes from the Citgo station. Then, in 2006, they released a manipulated version of the Citgo tape just days after CIT announced their interview with Robert Turcios, a station employee and eyewitness who told CIT that he is "100 percent sure" that the plane was on the north side of the station.
The former Senior Counsel to the 9/11 Commission was recently asked about the Citgo tapes and dodged the question.

If he wants to hold on to the damning evidence for personal gain, then he's obstructing justice and withholding information and being a jerk. No offense, but personally Im tired of people "talking" and never "producing". Like I said- if he's got something- lets see it so we can support him. Does he plan to release it? Is there a reason we arent seeing it yet? Is there a link to his website?

this report is wrong only in two ways . . . there were 22 video tapes not 4 . . .
there were three explosions, not two, and not one . . .
there were two "seismic readings" from two reporting stations . . .
I have them both . . . one shows two, and other shows three, why because
when the first explosion went off, the power supply at one station was shorted out,
so there was no recording of the first, but then the generator kicked in

If any CTs are in need of a good hunt, look into the connection of the Aryan Republican Army and Tim McVeigh. I have my own theory of how the government could have pulled it off. It's probably not what you would think. No AJ version for me. I always wondered about those tapes. They showed footage of the truck pulling up but never showed Tim McVeigh getting out. I would love to learn the REAL truth on what happened.

bank robber. Like it's ok to murder someone if they've robbed a bank. Maybe it's better to eliminate those who lie in nationally syndicated media publications (that would make for a better world) Apparently he had enough credibility as a material witness or looked like one (looked like Richard Lee Guthrie who was going to spill the beans on OKC to an LA reporter) to murder to keep him quiet.
