I totally understand not supporting the war. As a person who retired from 20 years in the AF, I do not support the war. I don't understand how you can't support the troops. Unless you think this world is in such a state that we no longer require a military. However as long as we do still require a military, those who choose to serve can't decide which wars they will participate in. It's up to the CIVILIAN leadership of this country to decide how those who serve will be used. My personal criteria I think our civilian leadership to use would be to ask one question: "Is the cause of this war so great that I would be willing to risk sacrificing my own child for"? If you can't answer yes to this question then we shouldn't be going to war.
