Vebally threatned at work : By a customer in UPS Uniform

i work in customer service and was helping two other people when I asked a man if i could answer any questions for him. He q uestioned a price he was charged on a purchase and i told him that I would credit him any charges that were invcorrect. He then proceeded to cuss in the store, come behind the counter twice and ask me to go outside so he could teach me a lesson. Any ideas? Thank You friends.

if you were the first to throw a punch, whatever, I'd worry you might end up in jail. Union types would be very quick to call on their reps., if not the police.
A video cam or recording device should always be at hand.
not that tattle tailing is a really great idea
but if that customer was not delivering a package then he should have not been in uniform and behaving in a way that would hurt UPS. UPS has very strict rules about that. Other than that if he continues to harass you then you gotta do what you gotta do.

Get the amount of money out of the register that he said you shorted him... Walk to his position ( approx 2 feet away from him.). Throw his money in the air.. Human instinct will force his eyes to look at what you threw... Then kick him in the freaking junk... This can be followed up by a wide array of attacks.. Personally I like to follow the junk kick up with kick to the inner knee cap area.. My son would probablly suggest that you Super Fly Jimmy Shnooka him off the counter..... Your call. Good Luck

the counter, spit a loogie in his eye and then kick him directly on the inside of the knee-cap on the leg that is the fartherst back (has most of his weight on it) ...this works very well, and the bigger they are...the more effective it is!
*Keep in mind...the person on the receiving end of this move will likely walk with a limp for the rest of their life.

It has been a long time since I had to listen to someone tell me what to do at work. I allow no cursing in my store, my son may be here and I don't want him hearing it. I have told folks they needed to leave before, I get a lot of pot heads and drunks wanting to rent tools. Being drunk or high and running a jackhammer or excavator just don't mix.
When I worked at a bank after college and some one would start having a fit, I would put my most shocked ashamed face on and look them right in the eye and say, " you don't really mean to act like that do you". more than 1/2 the time they would realize what an ass they were being and hush.
At the job I had before I opened the store I managed the tool rental in a hardware, and had a different clientele, I would get into it more with the contractors cause they weren't gonna hush. I put a pallet of concrete in front of one ass's truck and then put the fork lift forks under the back, took the key and told him that he needed to calm down and apologize.
Point is while you are working for someone else you have to abide by their rules, unless their rules will cause you to be harmed. Then don't be afraid to lock yourself in the toilet, run, kick their butt, call the cops, etc. just make sure that you are justified in your actions.

Probably you have rented to quite a few drunks and potheads, but a lot of us are responsible enough to know which lines not to cross. I worked construction in Hawaii and the majority of the crew, including the boss, were stoners, but we adhered to the strict Pau Hana policy when it came to the beer or the weed. Using on work hours meant instant dismissal, and absence from Pau Hana often meant cause for concern. A niggling point perhaps, but a bro represents his peeps.

no, not hiring. I am a one man shop. Everything from the emperor to the guy that cuts the grass, cleans the toilet, mechanic, delivery man, etc. they are all me. My father is retired and he will come in and watch for me when I need to go somewhere, and I try to do all deliveries before or after hours. Maybe one day after it all crashes down and we start over I will hire someone.

Call the police.
Get the bum arrested.
Call UPS and tell them what happened.
Make darn sure you press charges against him and appear in court.
Result- he won't be able to legally buy a firearm. Thus, another hot head is treated as he should be.
Having said all of that- how did you get a job and not know how to handle this matter yourself?
I'm a little hot headed in those situations..
I probably would have drug him over the counter and proceeded to pummel him. Lesson learned...and a new job for me. :O)

Step 1./ Reach out and grab person's hair.
Step 2./ Slam person's face into counter.
Step 3./ Repeat until person is no longer making screaming noises.
Step 4./ Release person, clock out... find other employment.
Ah.... the good old days.

I doubt that this person is a UPS employee. However,
if you can identify who this is by their purchase, call UPS and ask for customer service. They will deal with any employee who acts this way while still in uniform and tell you what action was taken.
