(CBS) Al Qaeda has developed a new tactic that allows suicide bombers to breach even the tightest security, as CBS News correspondent Sheila MacVicar reports.
Inside a Saudi palace, the scene was the bloody aftermath of an al Qaeda attack in August aimed at killing Prince Mohammed Bin Nayef, head of Saudi Arabia's counter terrorism operations.
To get his bomb into this room, Abdullah Asieri, one of Saudi Arabia's most wanted men, avoided detection by two sets of airport security including metal detectors and palace security. He spent 30 hours in the close company of the prince's own secret service agents - all without anyone suspecting a thing.
How did he do it?
Taking a trick from the narcotics trade - which has long smuggled drugs in body cavities - Asieri had a pound of high explosives, plus a detonator inserted in his rectum.
This was a meticulously planned operation with al Qaeda once again producing something new: this time, the Trojan bomber.
The blast left the prince lightly wounded - a failure as an assassination, but as an exercise in defeating security, it was perfect.
Never set foot...
in a federal building and never fly on an airplane.

Some years ago, a TSA agent stuck his hand down the inside
front of my slacks. The wife-unit, ever the one to search for humor, asked (after it was over) if I wanted to invite him to the house for a Sunday BBQ. That was the last trip I ever took on an airliner. It happened at DFW. If that kind of intrusive TSA snooping makes people "feel" safer, then they can have the entire air travel system. I will have nothing to do with it. If they wind up flying empty seats, then that's just peachy by me.

I have not flown for years, and I appear to be suffering no ill consequences from that decision. Carol Gotbaum (et al) did not survive their TSA screening.
Why pay to be treated like a terrorist at best, and maybe be tazed or beat to death on the whim of some TSA thug?
Truth exists, and it deserves to be cherished.
I had recently returned from Iraq...
I was flying home to see my family in Seattle in full dress uniform - and they asked me take my jacket with all those ribbons on it off..and my shoes...I asked if they were serious, they said yes - I asked if they knew what the ribbons on my jacket meant - they said no - I explained it to them and they still insisted I take off my jacket and shoes - my return flight was the last time I got on a commercial plane, and it was the beginning of my waking up.
If they actually went about doing body cavity searches - to random passengers - there will be alot of people joining us who will never fly commercial again!
I'd rather the TSA go away and keep the airlines - but government won't easily give up it's wonderful new powers...

I'm amazed
I'm consistently amazed at how full dress military are treated by the airlines. It's absurd that they even wait in lines, more or less have to subject themselves to this crap.
It's one area where all of our military spending falls shorts, getting our men and women a decent trip home to see their families.
