Lawmakers jack up spending
The measure includes a hodgepodge of new funding for lawmakers: a $500,000 pilot program for senators to send out postcards about their town hall meetings, $30,000 for receptions for foreign dignitaries and $4 million for consultants — with Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) getting up to nine each and Senate President Pro Tempore Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) getting up to three more.
There’s $15.8 million for salaries for the Senate Appropriations Committee — plus an extra $950,000 for the committee’s administrative expenses.
Funding for House office buildings will jump a staggering 128 percent, to $84 million. Some of that money will go to replace a roof at the Rayburn House Office Building, and an additional $50 million is being allocated to renovate the Cannon House Office Building.

Time to end the federal government as we know it
It will take time, commitment, and some money but we must end the federal government as we know it. They are no longer responsive to the people or the states. They do what they want regardless of the power to do it. They are accountable only to themselves. Consider that the only check on federal power is a federal judge! Are you kidding me? They appoint and confirm all people that are charged with checking their power grabs. What a joke. When the 17th amendment passed and totally neutered the states ability to confine the federal government it severed the last check of federal power. And don't even tell me that they are accountable to us through our voting.
Therefore, we must end the federal government as we have come to know it. I suggest the shortest path with least resistence is by taking over 3/4ths of the state legislatures. At that point have a constitutional convention and strip all the assumed power and more from the feds, or just end it outright. I know most are afraid of a constitutional convention. That is why we have to gain control of the process of having it and who to send. I think the hard way is to try to take over Congress with liberty minded people. State elections are much easier to win. There are just more of them to win.
