Security Tool

O.K., I know this is wildly off topic, but does anyone out there have any suggestions at all on how I can get the obnoxious antivirus "security tool" and its bogus claims of massive viral infections off of my system without submitting to buying the useless software?

The best and most effective
The best and most effective way to fix this is to re-install your system. Aside from that, there are a number of anti-virus programs that you could try. Sometimes they completely fix the problems and other times the virus is extremely difficult to completely remove.
Microsoft has a new free antivirus software that you can try. That's available at http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

Ruth, install it..Say yes at the end of the install when it asks if you want to update it..Run a full scan. Post here if you need more help..I use this program all the time..
You'll be asked to reboot when it's done running..It will take over an hour to run it.

Yes, my dear Ruth
Go here

Download and install malwarebytes anti malware.
During install it will ask if you want to update, it's a checkbox towards the end of the install process...Then run it and do a full scan...
It will find lots of items..And will probably take over an hour to run.
Then you'll be asked if you want to do a reboot to finish fixing the issues.
If you have problems, come back and post here...I'll be up for a while..So I'll check on you..
