Important Question: Lupus versus Flu vaccinations.
Lupus is classified as an autoimmune disease.
The immune system can go wild against your own body, yet possibly ignore other threats, such as bacterial and viral infections.
This is a personal question, as my wife is well on the way to being diagnosed with Lupus. It's tough to diagnose, so we don't know for sure.
Her first test for the disorder came back "maybe". The doctor said that it would have been a positive, but she is being treated for one of the symtoms, and it threw the results off a little.
Her doctors are ADAMANT about her getting both Flu vaccinations this year.
For the Swine, and "regular flu".
I am at a conundrum. I have a fear that the vaccination itself might trigger some sort of Lupus related response. But on the other hand, Her getting the flu could also present a disaster.
What would you do?

Incredibly stupid....
She already has one auto-immune disease..Does she want another one on top of that?
Squalene in the vaccine will lead to auto-immune and neurological diseases.
Why ??
Sqalene is a natural oil found in your skin, spine and brain. When Injected into the blood stream your body views squalene as a foreign substance, and codes antibodies for it where ever it finds it.
95% of gulf war 1 vets with Gulf war sydrome test positive for squalene antibodies.

What would I do?
I would not take the vaccine or want anyone else to. Don't listen to the box. Do your research. There are many dangerous additives in the vaccines. Look at the inserts. Here's a place to start-

The information out there is vast.
And the rabbit hole is deep.

Hi Sproutlover,
Dr. Max Gerson healed lupus vulgaris with a saltless raw food diet.
I recommend the following excerpt from the autobiography of Dr. Ferdinand Sauerbruch.
From [gerson-research.org]:
--------------------
From Master Surgeon
{excerpt)
"I was sitting in a train traveling from Munich to Davos, where I had once again been invited. It had been an exhausting day and I tried to sleep, but in vain. I had probably drunk too much coffee. Grimly I leaned back and tried to read the medical journals I had with me. After we had crossed into Switzerland, another traveler got into my compartment. The man seemed bored, and it was plain that he was looking for a chance to open conversation. He irritated me by shuffling his feet, twitching his legs, fidgeting with his clothes, and by his general restlessness. Before long, he made his opening move.
"Are you going to Davos, too?"
"Yes," I growled.
After a very short silence, he tried again. "Are you a patient?"
"No."
He peered across to try and read the titles of the periodicals which I had thrown down beside me on the seat.
We rattled on through the night. I was desperately tired. I could not read, my eyes were aching, yet in spite of myself I was curious concerning this exception. It was not difficult to set him off again. As I stared at him, he asked, "What can you see on my face?"
"Burns," I suggested.
"Burns!" he cried. "These aren't burns. They are the scars of skin tuberculosis, and I was cured of it by this doctor."
"What!" I exclaimed, though with some restraint. Skin tuberculosis, lupus, an unsightly disease for which there was no known cure. I decided that my fellow traveler was just bragging. "There's no cure for lupus."
"There used to be no cure," he replied. "But one has been found. I have been cured."
Before he realized what was happening, I was unfastening his jacket and shirt, for we were alone in the compartment and some distance from the next station. And on his chest I saw large areas of perfectly healed lupus. I asked him to tell me his story. From his accent, I judged him to be Russian.
The disease, he said, had developed in his home country; he had gone from doctor to doctor. Being well-to-do, he had been able to afford treatment abroad and had visited various German hospitals in vain. Feeling more and more like a medieval leper, he had been on the brink of suicide, when he was told that there was a doctor named Gerson in Bielefeld who claimed to be able to cure lupus. He decided to go to him. Why not? The effects of the disease on his face were such that he would soon be forced to retire from the world. People shrank from him, and few hotels would admit him.
As soon as Dr. Gerson saw him, he exclaimed, "Ha! Lupus, lupus vulgaris.
"Can you help me?"
"Of course I can help you." And he did. I asked him how he had done so.
"By diet."
In the whole range of medical literature, there was no reference to the treatment of lupus by diet.
"When I was cured," he continued, "I went to all the famous doctors who had told me there was no cure, and they all laughed at me. Doctors!"
"Did you ever go to Sauerbruch?" I asked.
"It wouldn't have been any use. He's in Munich, and anyway, he always quarrels with everybody, shouts and bellows at them. He wouldn't listen."
I told him that I knew Sauerbruch and that I could guarantee that Sauerbruch would see him. And then he told me why he was going to Switzerland. He was hoping to acquire a building for the treatment of lupus patients free of charge. It was to be a gesture of gratitude for his release from this dreaded scourge. But he knew that he would need the support of some prominent man, for Dr. Gerson's name was practically unknown.

Unbelievable coincidence
My sister in law was just diagnosed with auto immune disorder, quite possibly lupus, we are waiting on more tests. My first inclination was to google lupus and flu vaccines......
I am leaning toward a vaccine related condition, there are no other disorders of that type in the family. She is an atty for state of MA and has had every shot they told her to get.......
Colchester, New London County, Connecticut
That IS a coincidence
MY best to you and your Sis in law.
My wife's family never had a Lupus diagnosis either.
But there were some unusual sicknesses. In retrospect, there MAY have been some that were undiagnosed.

Get a second opinion
Find another doctor, and if you can not, then do as the doctor tells you. If you do not, he can refuse service, and youre back at getting another doctor, buring up time, that your wife needs.
Many people here do not have doctors. You and your wife have a VERY serious situation to face. My heart goes out to you both.
I believe in miracles. May you so be blessed.

But something interesting has happened.
One of her Docs, a new one for us, has taken quite an interest in her case.
He's a vascular guy. But he's been the fist one to sit us down, and go over the mechanics of her issues. I really appreciated his in depth description.
He has also been calling her other doctors, about once per week, checking up on her. It's been a LONG time, since I've seen a doctor care so much.

But, when I worked in healthcare, a nurse, who did concurrent review for our healthcare company told me this, when I asked her about getting the flu shot - several years ago.
She told me she does NOT get the shot and that she/they believed that is what gave her mother Lupus.
So, that, and my sister-in-law, who is a nurse, said she never gets the flu shot - I don't get them.
And after reading tons of info about how the annual flu shot is actually for strains of flu for a year too before, and about how the H1N1 flu vaccine is UNTESTED and that the Health CZAR gave immunity to those who mfg. it, I WILL NOT get this one either. It's been proven the H1N1 is not of nature, but man made and released into the environment.

Just found this one
on another thread here on DP re vaccinations in Allegheny County:
http://www.newswithviews.com/Tenpenny/sherri125.htm
Decisions like this are
Decisions like this are tough. I would have her see a good alternative doctor (naturopathic, homeopathic, or chiropractic, ect.) and get their opinion before doing the vaccines.
Treatment for lupus
Vitamin D can actually be used to treat lupus. Sometimes lupus is associated with Vit D deficiency. She can get her Vit D level checked at the MD's office via a simple blood test. Her levels need to be between 50-80 ng/ml. To get there you need about 4000 IU per day. This sounds like a lot but it really is not. To see the science behind this go to www.vitamindcouncil.com
Also, if she needs a flu shot I would highly recommend she seek out the mercury-free variety. It is available but may be hard to find. Make sure she asks and verifies that is contains no thimerosal and no mercury.
Something I wonder about---
No one HAD immune deficiency diseases when I was a young adult. The first I remember hearing about Lupus was in the 70's. So I am wondering if the vaccines are causing the auto-immune disorders?
E. Oregon: Some auto-immune diseases have been around...
for a long time, but we know them by different names.
Asthma, Type I Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Crohn's Disease, Ulcerative Colitis, and Cystic Fibrosis are all auto-immune type diseases.
Thanks for the correction, Steve
I didn't realize diabetes is auto immune and I did know of someone with cystic fibrosis and I think Multiple Sclerosis is one, as well. But in that case, I don't think they were as prevalent as now. Vaccines mess with the immune system for sure.
E. Oregon: You are right about where the hell did these diseases
come from. The relationship of vaccines (food additives, synthetic sugars, chemicals, mercury, video games, cell phones, etc) to Dyslexia, ADHD, Asperger Syndrome, and brain tumors is suspicious. These conditions are not known to be auto-immune, but they also continue to become more common...why?
Something bad is going on here!
I am not expert in this field but.......
listening to many of the DailyPaul people I have learn and decided to take over 1000IU of vitamin D3 to boost my immune system. And if for some reason I catch either of the Flu - I plan to begin to add a tablespoon of colloidal silver until I am past the flu by three days. Colloidal Silver kills over 650 viruses, bacteries, and fungis. If for some reason I am force/required to take the Flu/Swine Flu shot - I plan to take a tablespoon before the shot and then continue to take the tablespoon after up to three days. And while doing all this I plan to stay away from the public as much as possible.

We're on it!
That was the first assumption. A simple deficiency.
We've got Vit D..And I make sure she gets a good dose of sunlight each day too..Sometimes normal Work-home-work-home lifestyle can keep you out of the Sun, and you don't even realize it!

Thunder: I would proceed with caution regarding ....
vaccinations. You are right about your concerns.
With a possible diagnosis of LUPUS, avoidance of anything that could stimulate her immune system should the order of the day. An immunization(s), could cause a heightened immune response and precipitate the illness she is trying to avoid and could also cause Guillain-Barre syndrome.
I would shield her from any immune-activating substances: bug bites, bee stings, sickness, viruses, bacterial infections, immunizations, and allergic reactions to anything, while encouraging a healthy life style: good food, hydration, physical activity, and rest.
They must have prescribed steroids like prednisone. This type of medication can give ambiguous labs results for LUPUS.
That is my two-cents worth of recommendations.
I always appreciate your two cents, doc
How do you feel about Mega Vitamin C..ala Linus Pauling?
Oh, I forgot to mention, her problem right now is clotting issues, and she's on anti-coagulants..They were testing for some type of clotting factor.

I'm opting for no
I also have concerns regarding a similar autoimmune situation. The Flu shots will cause a jump start in an already over active immune system. don't do it. just the heavy metals alone in the shots don't make it worth it for someone who has autoimmune problems.
Heavy metals..
I've talked to her about this too.
She's well versed on mercury..And has been an active opponent of Gold mining techniques that release this into the environment..
So active, in fact..I worry about her sometimes. I call her the Karen SIlkwood of Gold mining!
