When fear is distributed by the mass media, managed and promoted by the state, even with calibrations of fear that assign specific values to different threats (the colour coding of threat levels in the U.S.), with armies of taxpayers called upon to pay ever more for more “security”, when they have less real income than before, supposedly with the aim of prolonging their lives against “the terrorist threat”, then one has to talk about fear as something that is calculated, controlled, and controlling. It has an economy, a symbolic system, assigned messengers, an armed apparatus, and a routinized discourse. It is not genuine fear–genuine fear is spontaneous, emotional, it goes as quickly as it comes, it cannot be articulated. The fear of terrorism is instead a managed fear, orchestrated by authority, invested with power in the defense of power.

since they said terrorist could pretend to be cops people should start calling the cops to report other cops for possible being terrorist

Colorado released a video like this now, in 2009, *because* it's only threat level yellow. Colorado doesn't like it when people are comfortable with each other and their surroundings, and prefers, in fact, that people be in a permanent state of fear. Colorado liked it better when we were terrified of each other.

Colorado likes it better when it's threat level RED.

Sad.

Why was this video released just now, in 2009? This looks like threat-level "red"-style fear mongering that had a more proper home in the media universe of the early to mid 2000's. We're currently in threat level "yellow". It doesn't make any sense.

What on earth would compel the State of Colorado to make a video like this now, and not then? What are they so afraid of that's unique to 2009?

i think it is at about 50 seconds into the video....now, listen, and don't get me wrong...in the interests of full disclosure, i absolutely question the events of 911...i think a full re-investigation is in order and ultimately, i believe certain people were aware of what was about to happen on that fateful day...

that being said, when you see the "plane" explosion...go back in the video to where the plane goes behind the first building....is it just me or does anyone else NOT see it go BETWEEN the two buildings?

i see a little speck like a reflection of sorts on the building being "hit" but i fail to see the plane fly between the two buildings...

does anybody else notice this?

Concerned for child safety and being aware of an alleged plot wherein Chavez has street gang sleeper cells that can be activated to storm and take over schools, in conjunction with an incident at a local school, I made an “inquiry about security” mechanisms the school has in place to protect local children. I took notes of what I was told and went around the school to make sure what I was being told was true (example: to make sure all doors really were locked at all times). The school thanked me for my concern and I was told that there was a wish that more parents would show my level of concern. I did not know this made me a terrorist, nor do I really care.

Also, having previously worked in news, I can tell you that every news agency is a terrorist agency because they “monitor police radios”.

I find it interesting that the video, when talking about funding terrorism, shows several scenes of people committing petty crimes (selling misdemeanor amounts of drugs and stolen watches, for example). This is what it's all about; this is where we're headed. Before long, spitting on a side walk or driving 10 miles per hour over the speed limit will be an act of terrorism. The Patriot Act even defines terrorism as violating any laws of any nation.

Fortunately this video appears to be outdated as it offers antiquated and obsolete advice to tattle on everything you see. Fusion Centers are about to make this need a thing of the past.

Nevertheless, I say we follow the advice given in the video. Any time I see a cop doing anything related to his or her job (which by definition of this video is terrorism) I'll be calling and drawing attention to them.

That's scary. Are we going to become a nation of spies on our neighbors?
