Interesting that I'm getting
Interesting that I'm getting some rather pissed-off responses to this (not here - at bytestyle). I'm kind of surprised people would WANT this sort of thing... What's up with that?
Of course Time Warner is for
Of course Time Warner is for it. Big companies that sell streaming bits are for it. Big companies that rent out bit-pipes are against it. For some odd reason, the second bunch does not want the US telling them what they can and cannot do with their pipes.
This is going to turn into a "we have to do something"
situation, mark my words. There will be a compelling (though fully orchestrated) reason to "do something". Those of us who say leave it alone will be called some crazy name and everyone else will fight over the details of how the internet will be restricted. The ISP's will get exactly what they want and it won't be illegal. If they can get away with mandatory insurance coverage. . .hmmm.

"regulating it to make sure it stays that way" . . ???
A quote from one of the bill's co-sponsors . .. @30 seconds:
"The internet has thrived and revolutionized business precisely because it is an open technology. This bill will insure that the none discretionary
frame work, that allows the internet to thrive and competition on the web to flourish, is preserved."
So, Roche says in her reply,
"The internet does such a great job, we should start regulating it to make sure it stays that way" . . . ?

And never forget, “Humans, despite our artistic pretensions, our sophistication and many accomplishments, owe the fact of our existence to a six-inch layer of topsoil and the fact that it rains.”
that was totally sarcasm...
that was totally sarcasm... you got that, right? no?
I would never advocate such ridiculously unwarranted regulation :)
Also, I like your food sites/quote.
