Local Currencies- Why Not?
Hello all, I don't know a whole lot on the subject yet, but I figured I might as well start up a thread to get some ideas together about local currencies to supplement our local townships, communities, etc. Now, I'm sure some of you are staunch gold-only people and against this idea unless it requires gold currency, but there is reason to think that is a horrible idea. Let's get some good ideas together, pros and cons, about this topic and supply links and viewpoints that are relevant to the topic.
Im surprised this revolution hasn't embraced this idea as yet another alternative to the Fed, but that's why I'm looking into it.
Here's something I've found, called the BerkShare, and it seems to be a nice thing for many people who use it:

I'm using this electronic money as currency:
It requires lots of study to get started, but may be now used I-phone to I- phone, or P/C to I-phone.

I have something going on right now:
I'm not sure how it will work out, but I'm going to give it a shot and learn as I go.
I have bartered work and stuff all of my life. I recently had a heart attack and am having a little trouble recovering. I can't do some things around the house right now and am talking with a few different people about trading them a room in my house for the things I need done. I am skeptical and this is really huge for a guy like me that likes his privacy and autonomy. But I think that anything can be traded and big brother can just KISS IT!
I haven't dealt with him since 89, and have no intentions of turning back the clock. I get what I need, someone else gets what they need, and the overbearing intrusives get NOTHING!

Anytime you barter or trade labor you are using"local currency"

Local currencies means independence, no need for a...
Treasury, or a Fed Reserve.
An ounce of silver in Indiana has the same value as an ounce of silver in Montana. The value is in the coin itself, not a piece of worthless paper like we have now.
I don't think either the Fed or the Treasury want local competing currencies.
Remember what the feds and the Fed done to

I'd suggest researching the problems the states had with different currencies under the Articles before you go further.
Not saying it's a bad idea, just that you need info, and that's a place to start.
CA is doing this with state issued IOUs

local currency
i'm not an expert either
i guess u would say i'm a "staunch gold-only" person
but given the options i'd say:
central bank << local currency <<<< commodity currency
i'd say that one dude's adage that "paper money always reverts to its true value 0" would still hold true for a local currency. pre-fed, as rp discusses in "end the fed" (i think), you had local banks inflating currencies and creating bubbles.
I pledge, do you?
