The Scourge of InflationSubmitted by Michael Nystrom on Tue, 02/20/2007 - 17:30
My apologies for not keeping the site more up to date. This is a part time endeavor for me, and recently - like most Americans - my life has been rather hectic. This makes for a perfect segue into talking about why life for Americans has become so hectic.
Aren't technology, mechanization and productivity improvements supposed to relieve our labor burdens, giving us more free time to spend on those things that are truly important in life, and those things that we really want to spend our energy on? That is the way it is supposed to be, but Americans today find themselves working more and more while earning less and less. Why is that?
One of the main reasons is the rampant, hidden inflation perpetuated by the Federal Reserve and irresponsible Federal government spending. Ron Paul is the only presidential candidate who supports abolishing the Federal Reserve system, and favors a return to an honest money system as put forth in the US Constitution. Under the current system, the Federal Reserve creates money from nothing, which gives the Federal government unlimited spending power for things such as war that average citizens do not want.
Meanwhile, because there is more and more money in circulation, each of your hard-earned dollars is worth less and less. Food, gas, housing -- all of life's necessities -- cost more and more each year, while paychecks either stay the same or in many cases get smaller! This entire process is hidden from view by the current regime. You won't hear about it from the current politicians, bankers or the mainstream media, all of whom benefit from the status quo.
But you will hear it from Ron Paul because he is one of the few remaining leaders in Washington. By a leader, I mean that he does what is right, not what is the most personally beneficial to himself. When he speaks, pay attention to what he says, because it is not the usual blah-blah-blah that you'll hear from 99% of the other so-called leaders in Washington.
For more background on the causes of inflation and why Ron Paul advocates a return to honest money, I urge you to watch this video: The Money Masters Part I, and Part II. This series explains what "honest money" really means. It will help you to understand what Dr. Paul is talking about, if you don't understand it already. This will help clarify the extreme importance of his message. Once you understand it, please explain it to others, as in this poem by Lawrence Tribble entitled "Awaken:"
One man awake, awakens another.
The second awakens his next door brother.
The three awake can rouse a town,
By turning the whole place upside down.
The many awake can make such a fuss,
It finally awakens the rest of us.
One man up with dawn in his eyes,
Surely then multiplies!
