:Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion...

"In every country and in every age, the priest has been hostile to liberty. He is always in alliance with the despot, abetting his abuses in return for protection to his own"
--Thomas Jefferson
"Twenty times in the course of my late reading, have I been upon the point of breaking out, this would be the best of all possible worlds, if there were no religion in it."
--John Adams
"Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear."
--Thomas Jefferson
"I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature."
- Thomas Jefferson
"Religions are all alike - founded upon fables and mythologies."

"Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise."
- James Madison [April 1, 1774]
"Of all the tyrannies that affect mankind, tyranny in religion is the worst; every other species of tyranny is limited to the world we live in; but this attempts to stride beyond the grave, and seeks to pursue us into eternity."
THOMAS PAINE
"As to the book called the Bible, it is blasphemy to call it the Word of God. It is a book of lies and contradictions, and a history of bad times and bad men. There are but a few good characters in the whole book. The fable of Christ and his twelve apostles, which is a parody on the sun and the twelve signs of the zodiac, copied from the ancient religions of the eastern world, is the least hurtful part. Everything told of Christ has reference to the sun. His reported resurrection is at sunrise, and that on the first day of the week; that is, on the day anciently dedicated to the sun, and from thence called Sunday — in Latin Dies Solis, the day of the sun; as the next day, Monday, is Moon-day. But there is no room in a letter to explain these things."

when these guys say religion what are they refering to? are they refering to anything that has to do with God (like many people seem to think of religion today) or are they talking about how man gets in the way and tells people how to live? We can obviously find quotes on all these men praising God and giving him thanks but these were also thoughtful men whose every word had meaning ( a lost are today)

I still think it's neat. I don't agree on everybody pictured, but for the most part, it's a cool interpretation.

For an informed citizenry, individuals must discard the television set in favor of the acquisition of information via either books and/or the internet. An uneducated populous will remain in ignorance and thus continue to suffer the sharp ax of tyranny.
George Washington the man who led troops to kill those who rose up during the Whiskey Rebellion, not wanting to pay taxes.
This makes me very sad. And I believe in Christ.

the expression "One Nation Under God" is either:
redundant -- if God were actually the omnipotent author of the universe, then of course, all nations, things, and people would be "under God." Such a trivial declaration adds no new information.
arrogant -- if one intends to express that America is uniquely in accord with God's plan, or uniquely destined to fulfill God's vision, or that Americans are uniquely loved by God and therefore worthier of life than the heathen abroad, it reaches beyond arrogance and offers aid and comfort to mass murderers.
or erroneous -- if, as I suspect, there is no such entity, then America is no more "under God" than we are "under Santa Claus."
In short, it is a silly conceit that serves only to excuse the nefarious in their assaults on our liberty.
And for the record, I no more "hate God" than I hate Peter Parker or Lex Luthor.
On the other hand, I do fear the righteous in their mystic wrath who would hold me to the arbitrary standards of their fantasies.

of course...

The supposed central figure is an image that supposedly is meant to represent Jesus.
The only problem- the "artist" never read the 2nd Commandment.
