Million Paulian March
Submitted by Boru on Tue, 12/04/2007 - 14:45
I'm just brainstorming here.
How about a million Ron Paul supporters gathering in DC...ala Million Man March?
I don't think we should do this any time soon...better to concentrate on the immediate primaries...but this would give Ron Paul a lot of media coverage and show that our commitment is beyond the internet and donations. Yes, we have the most meetups and lots of street activism, but this would be a whopper of a media event. Maybe in January, before Super Tuesday on February 5th. Or maybe we should save this for after? What if we need this to get an 'after'?
Perhaps call it the March for Liberty, Call for Liberty, whatever. I'm just brainstorming here.
What do you think?

Here's another idea
Here's my idea. Yes, we march. But we march door to door with slim jims, DVD's, and voter registration forms. That's what I did today, and I'm going to do it again tomorrow and the next day, and the next, as long as my knees hold out.
The campaign is aware of the Fox snub. When Ron Paul was excluded from the Iowa forum several months ago, they made a the very best of the situation. Remember?
Please folks, stay focused on winning the nomination.
A Ron Paul-ion Man March!
Let's pick a day and take this message to Washington, D.C.!
We could all hand deliver the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights to their doorstep. Deliver it to the security guards!
Get OUT and VOTE in the primaries.
LOVE, FREEDOM and PEACE!
Oh... and a restored economy...
Ron Paul has my vote.
Coast to coast
What about a human chain from east coast to the west coast? Can start at co-ordinated times to link arm to arm in a show of power, support and unity.
Mass gathering
I wasn't sure about this idea a couple of months ago, but the cocncept of converging on the Whiet House in mass is sounding like the way to go.
Imagine if we got 300,00-400,000 Ron Paul supporters doing a peaceful gathering.
ronpaulmarch.com - take it to the streets!
Imagine thousands of Ron Paul supporters marching at the same time in every major city in the world!
www.ronpaulmarch.com
The R[3VOL]UTION is just getting started. We have shown the media that we can raise more money than any candidate in history. Now it is time to show them, in person, just how many people this movement unites! What better way to show your support for Ron Paul than to march through the streets with fellow Ron Paul supporters? Join us this New Year's Eve and pledge to march in a major city near you!
We need your help spreading the word and getting other people to pledge as well. The more pledges there are, the more inspired people will be to show up. There will be tons of people flocking to these cities for New Year's Eve, so this is a great time to reach a huge audience!
Please send an email to your meetup group to ask them to pledge today.
I think the multiple marchs idea would be best
Most people aren't going to be able to get time off work, get a plane ticket, hotel room, ect all to go to D.C. (or whereever) for one big event. But remember all the illegals that flooded the streets this past year on May 1st (a famous Communist holiday I might add)? We could do something like that. Since most of us are decent hardworking people who all have jobs we'd probably have to have it later in the day or a weekend or something. Unlike the illegals we can't all go out into the streets on a moments notice.
No reason to go all
No reason to go all immigrant-phobic on us. Just state the facts.

I think this would be more
I think this would be more appropriate if Ron Paul were not elected President, to make it clear on no uncertain terms that the silent treatment is over; we will be heard; we will be represented.
That's what MLK did; he forced them to listen and, most importantly, he forced them to make changes, after generations of groveling had failed to have an impact.

Republican Convention
My meetup group has talked about this idea. A huge gathering in front of the White House to show who we want to be living there would be great. Another idea is a mass gathering at the republican convention. I believe this is going to spontaneously happen, but if we collectively focus our efforts, we could arrange a massive rally during the convention. E-mail me to talk about this....soneill9@gmail.com. We have already aquired a website for this and are ready to go forward with it.
Multiple Marches?
Why not have individual marches in each of the states demanding they take back the powers the federal government have wrongfully taken from them. Video it and You tube it. Who needs the Corporate Controlled Media anyway.

early spring?
It's a great brainstorm, lots of good ideas here, especially the 'forget about D.C.' and 'be sure Ron Paul is there'.
But really, right now all travel needs to be directed to moving people around to get-out-the-vote efforts in the early primary states; without that all is lost. As for summer, what's the point, if the nomination is wrapped up long before then?
What's the window of dates between 'he's placed high in the early primaries, what's the deal with this dark horse?' and "this thing is locked up". Because if this event were to be useful for getting this guy nominated, it would have to fall then, in that window.
Patrick Henry's "give me liberty" speech was on a March 23. Jefferson's birthday - April 13. The british dissolved the Virginia House of Burgesses May 26. Next day May 27 the boys met at the Raleigh Tavern forming a 'committee of correspondence'. May 28 they proposed a Continental Congress. Anybody know other likely dates from history that might work.
It would be awesome for Virginia /DC area to see how many people they could gather up around the old Capitol (House of Burgesses) in Williamsburg, VA. Even 100,000 on foot would choke the town like another Woodstock. It would give a human scale and historic gravitas that no standard DC mall protest would.
Pointless, don't do it
There has been tons of mass marches - the media just blacks it out.
There was a huge one protesting the Iraq War before the invasion - the media blacked it out
Just recently there was a huge protest about Jena 6 - the media blacked it out.
Which media?
On the cable networks, "Jena 6" was covered ad nauseum.
Local coverage is what is important here anyway, regarding media.
Media attention isn't needed for successes to be gained by such an event.
"...it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security..."
"...it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security..."
What about protesting on the media's doorstep?
Would that get their attention?

MLK Day is Perrrrrfect! I love it!
'"We shall be free" no matter what color our skin is or how many figures are in our paycheck or who might share our bed or what we might choose to smoke or eat!!
No marches in DC though. That is how COINTELPRO crushed the unity movement among anti-war protesters during Vietnam.

State capitols are good for a central rallying point in each state, but "let the states decide."

Feb 5th is a key date...with 20 primaries.
Holding a large event like this after that date is really not taking advantage of the possibilities. We need to keep slamming the media with big things! It has to happen probably no later than Feb 2nd!

Here's the thing!
People need to get a wake up call! This means doing something outrageous. I tend to believe working with the black community is a real opportunity to one, get support and two, light a FIRE! The media tends to take it easy on the black community in some instances for fear of appearing racist. I say we use that to all of our advantage.
It's something they (the media) wouldn't dream of...and it would rock the world...and those are the kind of things we're looking for...the things that wake people up!
Doing it in all 50 capitals means people don't have far to travel, in most cases. Two, doing it on MLK Day gives us a broad appeal if we fashion it correctly! I have discuss Dr. Paul with black people and his ideas appeal accross the racial divide. In numerous cases, while sign waving, the most fervent supporters are blacks! Let's at least explore the possibility!
I don't want to offend anyone, maybe someone can help me here? Freedom, for all people is what I'm after! Black, white or green it doesn't matter... the important thing to remember is people that are suffering under the current system want a change more than anyone and if we don't give them an opportunity we are shooting ourselves in the foot before even trying!

Funny, I just made a comment on a parallel post - 30million Americans marching to Washington is maybe the only way to stop poll rigging and voting fraud and media and establishment lies.

RonPaulPalooza/ Freedom March
This is great Idea, so is RonPaulPalooza. Why not combine the two events?
IMHO, choose dates during the largest amount of students will be on spring break, which is March 13th thur 19th. South Padre Island would be a natural place to hold both events, this way you can pull from both coasts.
http://www.coolestspringbreak.com/college-spring-break-sched...
College football bowl season is right around the corner. Promoting a spring event now, at the bowl games would not be a bad move. And if somehow the blimp got involved with this... who knows? BTW, isn't Trevor a concert promoter? I am sure people smarter then I can connect the dots here.
I know that winning and raising money to get the job done is job one.
However by March, win, lose, or draw; all the folks who have been freezing their butts off will surely need a break. Why not plan the victory party!, march,or whatever else in Dr. Paul's backyard now?
President's Day 2/18
is a good day. Many children are off from school that week (in northern states for winter break) so many more people would show up.
I hate to be negative
There's nothing wrong with brainstorming new ideas and thanks to you for proposing what might be a great event. But I have to ask if this is even realistic. My RP Meetup group has 130 members and we can't get more than 10 at a time to show up for a simple sign waving event in our own town. Less than 40,000 supporters are willing to contribute to RP on a huge day like November 5th. For me personally, I've given so much to the campaign and my local activities, I can't afford to fly anywhere for a march. Finally, if this did come about, it wouldn't get any media coverage and few people would ever know it happened. Remember the anti-war march in NYC where 100,000 Americans marched against the Iraq war? Only CSPAN covered it and most people never heard about it. I think our efforts are much more productive, at this time anyway, working locally just going door to door.
When Ron Paul is nominated as the Republican candidate, THEN let's talk about a massive event like this.
I really didn't want to write this negative response. I'll be glad to be convinced that I'm wrong.
I like this idea more and
I like this idea more and more. Certainly multi-city is the way to go.
George Washington's birthday Feb 22nd or
the current president's birthday, July 6th
I'm suggesting we have it in the 50 state capitals
That's simple to organize and more likely to hit local news! We all know the national media shuns us...but they have a weakness...local news!

Great Idea
Could this be multi-city?
Held on Lincoln's Birthday? MLK Day or Presidents Day
... or atleast when the weather gets better?
R3VOLUTION - Secret Crowds
Not Lincoln
In the Sirius Radio Patriot Channel Mike Church Interview, Ron was asked between Abraham Lincoln, Calvin Coolidge, and Ronald Reagan, who was the republican that he most closely could identify with? He put Lincoln in third place. Recall that Lincoln was a strong national government guy - yuck.
1st place - Calvin Coolidge
2nd place - Ronald Reagan
3rd place - Abraham Lincoln

American Presidential Election Anniversary
January 7, 2008 is the 219th anniversary of the first American Presidential Election.
If we had thousands of local marches on local election headquarters (in our respective towns), we could probably get one million marchers all over the country.
This would also be a good way to draw attention to the election process and the locations where people register to vote.
This also would not take away from Martin Luther King Day. We would not want to hijack that day for our purposes.
Hijack? HUH?
