Dear Governor Schwarzenegger,

Two anti-gun bills AB962 and SB5 were passed by the legislature and are now on your Desk.

If you don't veto them, by default, they become law.

This bill would require individuals purchasing ammunition to be fingerprinted and registered at the time of sale, mandates that dealers keep these records and make them available for inspection by the California Department of Justice. Ammunition retailers would also have to store ammunition in such a manner that it would be inaccessible to purchasers. Finally, mail order ammunition sales are prohibited under AB962. Over twenty years ago, Congress abolished similar requirements because ammunition sales records were found to be useless for solving crimes. AB962 is a dire threat to our Second Amendment rights in the Golden State.
More than fifteen County Sheriffs officially oppose AB962. I stand with law-enforcement.

SB585 (Leno) – GUN SHOW BAN
This bill would prohibit the sale of firearms and ammunition at the Cow Palace and would thereby make a violation of that prohibition a misdemeanor. This bill would ban having a gun show at the Cow Palace, which is a state owned facility in the South San Francisco area. If it passes, it will likely be expanded to ban gun shows on any public property, such as fairgrounds, throughout the State. It is a major attack on the right of sportsmen and other firearms owners to assemble, communicate with each other, and to purchase new, used and collectible firearms, accessories and sporting supplies.

Facts regarding SB585:
· Law enforcement fears that the lack of the gun show would drive firearms sales underground due to the lack of a the gun show as a regulated location for such sales to take place.

· The unfair lack of access to this publicly-owned venue restricts the First Amendment Rights of many thousands of attendees who have done nothing wrong and should not have to endure such censorship.
The gun show promoters, including Crossroads of the West (who produce the show at the Cow Palace) worked with law enforcement, the state fair board and others, in support of AB295 several years ago. AB295 provided protections, including event operation under the strict scrutiny of law enforcement, at all gun shows in the state.

Gun show promoters in California, including Crossroads of the West, have a close working relationship with law enforcement agencies (at all levels) due to the nature of cooperation that exists at gun shows, such as the one at the Cow Palace.

California has the toughest gun show laws of any state in the nation. Currently, California's gun shows are monitored by local, state, and federal enforcement agencies and all firearms transactions are required to be processed by dealers who possess federal, state, and local licenses.

Buying a firearm at a gun show is no different than going to a firearms dealer's store. All firearms transactions occur only after a comprehensive background check that includes a 10-day waiting period before a firearm can be delivered to the new owner. SB585 is an attempt by anti-firearms rights activists to find more creative ways to discourage people from owning firearms! Like most such bills, it would have no impact on criminals, just on lawful individuals!

Both of these bills infringe on Right to Bear Arms. Don't whimp out on law abiding citizens. Stand up to those Special interest groups whom wish to ruin the rights guaranteed by the constitution.
Do your job to represent the majority of Americans in California VETO AB962 ~&~ SB5 !

Thank you, Jeff O

Hawhawhaw! Stopping Kalifornia anti-gun legislation!?!?

Best of luck with that!

Take it from a guy in NJ...we're all screwed. Kali and NJ are just the leaders in stupidity.

Very sad news about AB962 being signed.

Very sad news about AB962 being signed.
Thanks to all who tried to make calls.

I may have missed it, but I haven't yet
seen anything about the signing or vetoing of SB 585.

Bill watch: see which measures Schwarzenegger signed, vetoed.

Legislative Update 4
Governor Schwarzenegger has signed 226 bills and vetoed eight bills.

Bills Signed:

AB 962 by Assemblymember Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) - Ammunition. See attached signing message at site.

The solution here is really simple

Move out of the PRC. (People's Republic of California)

Withdraw your spending, investment and tax dollars out of that Communist state. Why are you living amongst and supporting communists? Just move.

There are plenty of other states, some VERY nearby you that are the antithesis of California. Two of the closest ones have VERY friendly gun laws.

With more gun restrictions, crime will explode there. Maybe the Mexican drug gangs will finally "solve" the communist problem in California for us. Of course, no one will want to live there still.

Bump for liberty. California's gun laws are already so oppressive.

The lip of truth shall be established forever: but a lying tongue is but for a moment...Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are His delight. Prov 12:19,22

Tally so far ... not out of the woods yet !

Schwarzenegger signs 89 bills, vetoes 94

As legislative leaders continue talks on a package of water bills, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's office released word of the fate of 183 bills.

The governor, who threatened to veto "a lot" of bills if leaders can't strike a water deal, has until midnight to act on the more than 500 bills remaining on his desk.

See the governor's office's list of the 89 bills he signed and the 94 bills struck down with the veto pen after the jump ...

CA Assembly Bill 962 must be actively vetoed by Governor Schwarzenegger by October 11 or it becomes law! This bill will destroy the 2nd Amendment in CA because it will destroy CA gun owners’ ability to obtain ammunition.

Please call the Governor at 1-916-445-2841 THROUGH SUNDAY and use the automated system to voice your opposition. When prompted, press 1 then 2 then 2 then 2 to oppose.

Even if you’ve called before, please call again, and from as many phones as you can! The NRA is calling daily, and all the gun groups need our help! This Bill is too grave a threat to the 2nd Amendment. Thank you!

Gallup: In U.S., Record-Low Support for Stricter Gun Laws

In U.S., Record-Low Support for Stricter Gun Laws | Oct 9, 2009

PRINCETON, NJ -- Gallup finds a new low of 44% of Americans saying the laws covering firearm sales should be made more strict. That is down 5 points in the last year and 34 points from the high of 78% recorded the first time the question was asked, in 1990 ...

I just tossed him an email. Hopefully he'll veto these bills.

thanks SO much

not home but could log on for a sec ...
I don't even own a gun, but I'm supporting this.

You might want to suggest to Ahnold that if he wants to see what strict gun control laws do, check out Chicago.

Next, register railroad ties.
