Safest Place to go on Christmas Vaca? Is Cabo alright?

Making family vacation plans and just wondering if there is something I should know...
In Cabo it would be a secluded resort type, not the downtown Cancun stuff. Grandma is coming. Should we look at places within the country? It's just so much cheaper in Mexico. Don't bother mentioning a place with a temp below 80. Thanks!

Stay home
Save money, go to a local park, why does Vacation mean going somewhere and spending money and running up the CC. then working till next Vacation to pay it off, and the circle starts again.
With the Flu scare...
A friend was in Cabo recently and said it was almost deserted. It's a lovely place, but now many of the small hotels and restaurants are closed. See if they have a tourist site with updates.
Look into Puerto Vallarta..... great deals right now I hear

But my question is more about if something happened, would we not be able to get back in the USA. Or are the airports just going to get too risky this year. Like wouldn't that be the best place to pick up H1N1 (or whatever they mutate it into) I read that you have to get the new ID passport to enter into the US again.
Actually I really don't want to go. I've scared myself enough. I will try to convince them martial law or something will seize our house if we are not in it..?

Cabo is a thing of the past
Cabo is Horrible now. I have been going to Cabo for the past 25 years and will never go again. The prices are Outrageous and all that happens to me is being asked if I want drugs or prostitutes every 5 feet. You want the best of the best. Go to Kauai Hawaii. Grab a room off of Ebay for $600 for an entire week...rent a car...and live in dream land.

I always grab these deals off of Ebay. They are time shares that people can not use. Just search and search and find the one you want. Talk about dream deal.
I am typing this on vacation myself....I am in South Beach Florida. Found a $400 a night room on Hotwire.com for $54 a night. Then we wander up too Ft Lauderdale every day because all of the food is cheaper...and not so much chaos. Incredible deals...
Mark my word...you can do way better than Cabo. That place is a "Hell Hole" NOW!!

Mexico
Try anywhere between Playa del carmen and Playacar in Yucutan peninsula. Has easy access to sight seeing without the Cancun crowds. Right now there are fab deals, no crowds because of paranoid swine flu types.
I recommend Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal as an all inclusive with great pools, fab beach access, a real jungle full of animals good food, great hospitality!
You should come to Clearwater Florida

Cabo
A friend of mine went there over the winter and was shaken down by the police. They accused him of having drugs and wanted a payoff. He didnt have drugs.
Is there a group rate?
I so need a week away from the fam.
