Glenn Beck compares illegal immigration to slavery
Submitted by atrickpay on Fri, 10/09/2009 - 16:21
Just watching his show right now...what a stretched analysis. He states that "illegal" immigrants are slaves of corporations. Umm, what about how they are voluntarily working for them Glenn?
His whole analysis would crumble if he defined the term slavery...which of course he didn't do.

Glenn Beck is a money making machine
He is the "wisest" in terms of capital generation.
He appologizes when he's off or wrong -- He's entertaining the 2's as they go to work and keeping their minds off of their neighbors wife.
He is serving a roll -- even if liberty has nothing to do with it.
We should not pimp him on Daily Paul -- He is a turn-coat who will say anything to pump ratings.
He is backing off his war-pimping stance under Bush -- He will say anything.
I do admire his ability to quickly outpace everyone save Rush -- He's now bigger than Savage who is slowly falling off the radar and will probably retire soon (and should).

How about comparing American citizens
To slavery? That is what we are. Think about it.

He's not stretching the truth
A lot of illegal immigrants are virtual slaves. They are smuggled in and taken to corporations like meat packing plants and slaughterhouses. They don't speak the language and have no way of getting back except with extreme difficulty. They are paid what the employer wants to pay them and their work is long hours in dangerous conditions. The women are frequently subjected to sexual harassment of the worst kind. It is a kind of slavery. Read Fast Food Nation. You will see.
Yes, they voluntarily come and often pay huge sums to come. But they are not given what they signed up for.

Virtual slaves?
What's your definition of the term 'slavery'? Sounds like you have a different definition that is normally used.
They have no way out
Like girls who come to this country "voluntarily" because they are told they are going to be nannies or some such thing but end up being sex slaves. There is really no way out for them once they are here. Have you ever been in a country illegally where you don't speak the language? Is there a way out for you?

Well if you were with the regular working people of the world you would see how it is a modern day slavery. These people work for some landscape companies, they toil and they have someone standing over them doing nothing. (I have seen this) The landscape company does not pay these illegals anything. Will they complain?? Hell no. My mom who was 80 years old at the time, when a builder was working with illegals, she noticed the boss over these workers was on a tractor while the laborers were toiling using shovels and he was yelling at them (suppose they didn't know the language) she went out to the boss and told him he should get his ass off the tractor and let one of them use it. I'm not for illegals coming in over the boarder, and Glenn is right. They are abused, they are slaves.
What's your definition
of the term 'slavery'? Doesn't sound like you are using the standard definition.
It's voluntary
but the workers also have to fear INS, something legal workers don't have to worry about their bosses holding over them. It's at least a special class that's made possible by the exploitability inherent in their under the table status, a situation employers aren't going to give up.
Defend Liberty!
That Is Why It Is Slavery
It is not 100 pct freely given labor as in a right to work state. As Not Legal employers have leverage.
The employers directly benefit and at a human dignity level the illegals are not free.
Us legal citizens also pay becase the cost of labor is artificially supressed.
The Federal Govt is sanctioning this so called slavery by looking the other way when employers use thier ilegals for profits. Yes the illegals are voluntary so it is not real slavery. But I think the Moral Argument that it is slavery is valid. (I dont' think Glenn is smart enough to come to this conclusion on his own)
And of course there is the true mafia like skin trade where Chinese and others are truly involuntary slaves here in the US. I know we are not talking about that kind here..
Huh? Don't you believe in freedom?
You think the federal gov't should violate the private contract between a worker and the employer?
What about liberty?

Who really cares?
Beck is a New World Order stooge.
He's not "New World Order"
He's a conservative who leans a bit libertarian. I consider "NWO" people who want a new world order. Most commonly, those wanting a new world order are for a system of global governance.
At least that's what he plays on tv

Ya...
tho I think he is probably even more pro-liberty off TV/radio. He's on FOX so he has to be a conservative.
From what I have read, its
From what I have read, its more like a type of quasi-slavery for many illegal aliens. In too many situations, the illegal aliens get treated more poorly than legal workers, because their boss knows that if the illegals complain about being worked too hard and abused, the boss can threaten to call la migra on them to have them deported to keep them quiet and stop complaints. So, if the illegal alien cannot speak english and cannot find better work anywhere else, he may feel trapped there, with the only option to go back to his own country, or stay there and work under bad working conditions. For example, the illegal alien may get payed half or less what a legal worker is paid, they may be forced to work longer hours without lunch breaks or bathroom breaks, get no workman's comp if they get injured on the job, no sick days, no vacation days, no insurance or any other worker benfits.
Sure, the illegal alien has the option to walk out and quit if condition are that bad(unless the boss has threatened to call la migra on them if they quit in which case they might feel even more like a slave and trapped there), but if they cannot speak english and cannot find a better job and don't want to go back to their own country where they make much less money, then its understandable they might feel trapped there and feel like a quasi-slave.
If laws were enforced adequately like Ron Paul advocates, this would cause most illegal aliens to leave the country, and far fewer would try to enter each year, and it would be far less of a problem, illegal aliens being mistreated, abused and threatened by employers(I realize legal workers can and do get mistreated and abused too, since it has happened to me in the past, but I and other workers we knew our rights and we had the courage and were able to stand up to the boss, even though we knew she would get very angry and might try to fire us, and get her to back down and realize she cannot break the law by mistreating and abusing workers to make more money). Legal workers cannot be threatened in the same way the illegal alien workers can, they cannot be threatened with deportation, because they usually know their rights, they can usually speak english, and they have much more job opportunities open to them than illegal aliens do.
I blame the government mostly. Since they only make token efforts at enforcing laws against illegal immigration, it entices millions to enter illegally because they feel chances are low that they will get caught and deported. If laws were adequately enforced, far fewer would bother trying to enter illegally and instead they would work on either improving conditions in their own country or coming here legally, along with the millions of other who are waiting to come here legally.

And The Children
And this abuse can easily become generational and affect the children.
I know this sounds illogical but I think this second class citizen stuff is un american. We are not supposed to have classes like this in america.
If we just enforced the laws we have now we would not be having a discussion about a quasi slave class in this country.
Enforce the laws?
Those laws that you are talking about are criminal and violate people's rights. Freedom is the answer dude, not tyranny.

Unfortuantely, when you say that, you make it sound like you're calling Ron Paul a tyrant, because Ron Paul is in favor of enforcing laws against illegal immigration.
it's a bit more vague

I think he is moreso in favor of securing the border then rounding up all illegal immigrants.
Fortune Favors the Bold
He's not in favor of
He's not in favor of aggressively rounding up and deporting illegal aliens like president Eisenhower did(and in my view, there's really no need to go that far, because if illegal aliens can no longer get welfare here or work here illegally, most will leave the country), but in addition to finally securing our borders, he is in favor of enforcing laws on the books against illegal immigration. I'll offer some links as proof
