Just finished reading 'Atlas Shrugged'
At 1,168 pages, this was my summer reading project. A great read that keeps the suspense going throughout, with the rescue of John Galt occurring only within the last few pages.
I can see why Ron Paul has a great admiration for Ayn Rand.
However, I want to read 'Atlas Un-Shrugged.'
I want to know the rest of this brilliant story that now will never be told.
Whatever happened to Eddie Willers and James Taggart?
Is it obvious that Dagny is now with John Galt or is she with Francisco d'Anconia or Hank Rearden? Could she be with all three?
Rand doesn't give us a happy ever after ending. The world is in total chaos, and the expectation is that these larger than life heroes will now combine forces to magically return society to capitalism.
Rand writes: "I trust that no one will tell me that men such as I write about don't exist. That this book has been written - and published - is my proof that they do."
The men who are stopping 'the engine of the world' that we are now living in are not the heroes of this novel, but the villains of today. Where are the heroes Rand writes about who will reverse our decent into this apparent chaos?
If some books are prophetic, then we need to know how to un-shrug Atlas. If we cannot un-shrug Atlas, and we do not have Galt's Gulch to disappear into, what alternative is left to us besides the obvious.

This book was the beginning
This book was the beginning of my awakening. I usually read it and "The Fountainhead" once a year. It reminds me of what to expect from the looters and reaffirms that we liberty crusaders are absolutely RIGHT. Now that you've read it, you can't go back. Live it.

Another excellent book is (Ain't Nobody's Business If You Do -the absurdity of consensual crimes in a free society) by the late Peter McWilliams
I knew Peter
I was at his 215 trial, and he was one of the people I supported who was in prison, where he died.
I would suggest reading, "The Letters of Ayn Rand" by Leonard Peikoff. She explains the meanings of her books, tells who is John Gault, tells Greenspan he doesn't know what capitalism is... woos Frank Lyodd Wright, ends the repationships with her family, Murray Rothbard, pat isabell.. and you learn about other 'revolutionaires, like Miquel de Unamuno, and what led her to establish Objectivism. No Ayn Rand fan shoud be without that book.

Defend Liberty!
The only fault I see in Rand is ...
She had no belief in mysticism.
If she did she would realize that ...
our destiny is freedom.
The only question is when.
If we work hard on selling the message then it could happen within our lifetime or our children's lifetime.
The only question is when.
Sell the message.
God Bless.

It's next on my list...
If I can ever put down The Real Thomas Jefferson! Are you glad you read it? It sounds like it was worth the time.

A marathon isn't it ... welcome to enlightenment!
Fountainhead: Yes and Thanks!
Your handle is my next challenge. I have heard that this earlier Rand work is in some ways even better.
I agree about the enlightenment. Like 1984 and Animal Farm by Orwell, reading Rand is a life changer.
I just ordered Atlas Shrugged!
I also ordered 1984 and Animal Farm to give to the grandson for Christmas.
I travel a lot so
have it on a CD and have listened to it several times.
You know it was written in the
early 1960's but is more popular today than ever.
Now imagine you're a trillionaire and analyze it
It makes way more sense.

Ayn Rand and Philippe Rothschild Shrugged?

Were you perhaps thinking of this theory, MikeLawson?:
In 1957, a 1,168 page book by Ayn Rand, called Atlas Shrugged, was published. According to one source, Rand was alleged to be a mistress to Philippe Rothschild, who instructed her to write the book in order to show that through the raising of oil prices, then destroying the oil fields and shutting down the coal mines, the Illuminati would take over the world. It also related how they would blow up grain mills, derail trains, bankrupt and destroy their own companies, till they had destroyed the economy of the entire world; and yet, they would be so wealthy, that it would not substantially affect their vast holdings. The novel is about a man who stops the motor of the world, of what happens when “the men of the mind, the intellectuals of the world, the originators and innovators in every line of industry go on strike; when the men of creative ability in every profession, in protest against regulation, quit and disappear.”
If we are to believe that the book represents the Illuminati’s plans for the future, then the following excerpts may provide some insight to the mentality of the elitists who are preparing us for one-world government....
See the rest here: http://www.illuminati-news.com/2007/0322a.htm
The recent world wide economic crisis, lends some credibility to it, perhaps? Maybe they added the swine flu just to make sure the message comes through?...
