The worst U.S. recession since the Great Depression has ended, but weak household spending as the labor market struggles to create jobs will slow the pace of the economy's recovery, according to a survey released on Monday.

The survey of 44 professional forecasters released by the National Association for Business Economics, also known as the NABE, found that 80 percent of the respondents believed the economy was growing again after four straight quarters of declines.

"The great recession is over," NABE President-Elect Lynn Reaser said.

I am still broke.

I am still broke.

I work for a living

Despite my strong frugal instincts, I'm trying to be a consumer. I've been supporting the work boot/rain coat/coveralls industry lately to get ready for winter, but I'm telling you guys...I can't keep it up forever. I need you to please go out there and buy more coal, burn a little extra electricity, and be safe at railroad crossings.

Hooray!!!

I wonder what this guy removed from the story?

....maybe the recession is...

over, but an inflationary depression is looming very large on the horizon. Not even the blindest sheep could believe such a foolish statement. nonsense.

I would like to see the 44 professional forecasters

tell that to all the Americans unemployed,
with no work in site

Columbus, Platte Co. Nebraska

Con job

It's an attempt to keep consumers from triggering the impending retail holiday season meltdown.

Great news! I'm going shopping!

for more food, weapons, silver, and other preps.

Right on Aphrodite13...

You have the right idea...I sure hope others here do as well.

All I can say is...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH...AND CAN YOU PASS ME WHAT THEY ARE SMOKIN PLEASE. The same economists that are saying the recession is over are the same ones that said we were not in a recession a year into the crisis....not only that they think that everything is great even though the unemployment numbers are growing, and will not improve until after 2012. Hmmmm...this is a joke right, these guys are on the Obama's Administration propaganda team, they must be.

I'll believe that when I see it!

And so far I'm not seeeing it!
