Folks are starting to believe us now. About the dollar & Inflation and the coming lower standard of living.
My mother came by the store last week and got me to show her how to buy silver from APMEX online. My folks have always had a stock of food and supplies on hand because of growing up poor, but they didn't want to believe me about the dollar.
Last night they came over to the house for supper and I was talking to my mother, I asked if I could buy them a gun to keep in the house. She didn't even hesitate she just said yes. This is a woman that in 68 years has never fired a weapon. She wants me to teach her to shoot.
This past weekend we visited my wife's parents. The same thing, her mom wanted me to show her how to purchase silver. Her father has also bought a shotgun. ( they never have food in the house though, we're still working on that ).
My folks have been a little more receptive than my wife's to the truth of how the two parties are one in the same, but both have thought we were a little crazy. But, now they have begun to finally realize that this is being done on purpose and we have to be prepared. I have been bugging my folks the last 3 years or so to get out of the dollar some and get some tangible assetts. They are finally doing that.
I also have got my parents to stop buying my son Savings Bonds and, if they want to get him something get him metals. ( this was hard cause I didn't want to sound ungrateful, but instead I am thankful they have done what they have)
So this Christmas shopping is going to be easy for me. I am giving my parents and my wifes parents ammo, food, and silver. I gave her Dad some Silver on his birthday last year, and got a real puzzeled look. I don't think they are going to look at us funny this time.

What a great story.
Incredibly sad that people have to come to believe us... I keep hoping that maybe I am just nuts... ;) However, if enough people face the truth soon enough we may pull off the love revolution after all. All we need is a nation of people armed to the teeth with lead and truth. They will run to the racial divide and we will laugh, they will run to the religious divide and we will laugh, they will run to the national divide and we will laugh, they will run to the economic divide and we will laugh... And we can laugh because we will keep our weapons trained on the real enemy the entire time. Never have to fire a shot, just prove we know where that damn rabbit is.

Oh, what a great thread.
Guns, Ammo, silver and dried food should be big sellers this year. LOL, LOL

Water purification also.
I bought my wife a Berkey light water purification system for her birthday. I got the fluoride filters with it too. Our water intake has really gone up, I had forgot how good water that doesn't taste or smell like anything is, and how easy it is to drink. All three of us feel better being more hydrated. Bottled water taste like crap now.

Anyone here a handgun expert?
I put a few hundred Federal Reserve Notes aside to get a handgun in the near future, anyone have any advice about which guns to look at? My buddy just bought a glock 19 and seems to be pretty happy with it.
Sounds like you are having more luck with your parents than I am. At least they are finally catching on, they will realize in time that silver and gold are the best hedge against economic calamity there is. I've pretty much written my parents off as hopelessly brainwashed at this point, their stock broker has a tight grip on their feeble minds...

Go to a range and try several
or go with the most common type, for ease of trading ammo if it comes to that.

Everyone likes what they like, and will try to get you to also.
Get one that is comfortable for you and you are able to afford to feed enough to learn to use. I like double action revolvers. They just suit me. Some folks like semi-auto. Try to find a shooting range that will let you rent them and see what suits you best. Also look at some ballistics charts to see what caliber would best suit your probable circumstances.

I like the ammo-giving idea. Getting components for it these
days is not nearly as easy as it was a couple of years ago; particularly with respect to primers.

Did that for my nephews last year
a 20 round box of rifle cartridges and an ounce of silver a piece. Going to do the same this year. I found primers a couple of months ago for around 40 a thousand. I got enough to take care of my needs and my sons when he gets old enough. Unless I decide to start my own A-Team or something.

training
Please get training with the firearm. The NRA (even though they pimped the gun-grabbing mccain) has a network of instructors and good training.

My dad served in the Army, I have been shooting and hunting
for 20 plus years, & most importantly I love my mother, she will be trained on how to use what I pick out for them.
Thanks for the reminder though. There are a lot of people that purchase firearms and don't even know how to load them let alone safely control them.
We took our son to the State Fair Monday, the wildlife people had a shooting game set up at their booth. It was scary and sad to see the way grown men handled the gun. Our four year old had better sense, he has yet to fire a real gun and knows he is not to even go near them, but I have taught him with his toys to be safer than those grown men.

son vs. swat team
"Our four year old had better sense"
The better sense!
My brother's son regularly out-shoots (in accuracy) the members of a municipal swat team. My brother says the swat guys usually turn red when a teenager crushes them at the range.
Next time I visit, I intend to get some videos.
