Iran is hot, its all over the news its huge - Ron Paul needs to have a Press Conference
Submitted by bedr1 on Tue, 12/04/2007 - 19:15They are saying that President Bush has a creditibilty issue now, the Iran nuclear program revelation is huge. Its on all the stations - its everywhere. This is the lighting round, we need to email far and wide this issue. The other candidates said we should nuke Iran because of their program, they have no common sense and should never be in command.
Ron Paul was right - check out what he says in the last part of the video below.

Press Release on Dec 5th
Iran Intelligence Report Highlights Need for Ron Paul’s Foreign Policy of Peace
Ron Paul Press Release
December 5, 2007
National Intelligence Estimate Shows America Cannot Afford to Make the Same Mistakes with Iran that Were Made With Iraq
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – For months, while other GOP candidates have pushed for attacks on Iran, Ron Paul has rejected a pre-emptive attack and emphasized peace and diplomacy.
On June 5 at the CNN GOP debate in New Hampshire, the candidates were asked if they would support a pre-emptive strike against Iran using tactical nuclear weapons.
Each of the candidates responded that they would not rule out the use of nuclear weapons, except Congressman Ron Paul who said:
“I do not believe that [pre-emptive war] is part of the American tradition. We, in the past have always declared war in the defense of our liberties or [to] go to aid somebody.
“But now we have accepted the principle of preemptive war. We have rejected the just-war theory of Christianity. And now tonight, we hear that we're not even willing to remove from the table a pre-emptive nuclear strike, against a country that has done no harm to us directly and is no threat to our national security!
“We have to come to our senses about this issue of war and pre-emption. [We have to] go back to traditions and our Constitution, and defend our liberties and defend our rights, but not to think that we can change the world by force of arms and to start wars.”
Dr. Paul, who served in the air force Air Force for five years and is a veteran member of the House Foreign Relations Committee, has dealt with important global issues for decades. Media reports indicate that Mike Huckabee had not even heard about the NIE report when questioned by reporters Tuesday.
“The NIE report makes it clear: When it comes to Iran, Ron Paul was right and the other candidates have it wrong,” said Ron Paul 2008 spokesman Jesse Benton. “Dr. Paul has the understanding and experience to protect America’s national security through peace and diplomacy.”

Do you KNOW how to become a Delegate for Ron Paul? -- Do it!
I don't get it!
Ron could organize not one, but several speaches like Romney just did but about these intelligence reports and the lack of justification to go to war with Iran. I don't understand why Ron is not all over the media, railing against Bush about his plans to invade Iran. This is a great opportunity and we're missing out!
No - This IS a Ron Paul Campaign Duty
No - The grassroots cannot call a News Conference to discuss Iran and the intelligence Report. Its up to the Ron Paul Campaign.
We can do blimps, CD,s Money Bombs, but only they can do News Conferences on this level and they need to do it NOW.
No you don't get it
Dennis,
You are in charge of this campaign, not Ron Paul. You need to make speeches, pass on this information, pass on the message of a new foreign policy. You need to rail against Bush and his plans to invade Iran. You have been empowered because it is really YOU that is running for office.
And me
And everyone else in America

True, One of Us Doesn't Get It
I would really like to do all of those things, but since I am restricted to a wheelchair, all I can do is recognize an opportunity for Ron to get national attention by speaking out against the one man every other American is against, if he is so inclined.
Bush has a credibility issue
Bush has a credibility issue NOW?
This is what a Democrat would do.
Ron Paul is too smart to do something that hasty. Knowing the doctor's mannerisms, he'll just chuckle for a while.
If anything, this will help him out in the next debate.
"Free government is founded in jealousy, and not in confidence; it is jealousy and not confidence which prescribes limited constitutions." Thomas Jefferson, Kentucky Resolutions of 1798
WHY he needs to do one
We are dealing with 60 to 70 percent of voters are idiots who follow the media tooth and nail thats why he has to get at it. Sitting and waiting is not what these people want they think a leader WHO gets into the issues and gives them answers. we smart ones know better but most of them need a daddy to look up to. Thats why he needs to call a press conf.
"Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well armed lamb contesting the vote."
Video Compilation Time
I hope someone can put together a nice compilation of footage showing the candidates positions on Iran. They could certainly include the Democrats' positions as well.
Wow, as all of this starts to fit together it is becoming clear that Fox News is serving a function similar to that of the Propaganda mechanisms employed by Hitler. I think that I am offering a fair and balanced analogy.

Ron Paul needs to get on the news cycle action going on now
This is still the top story today- leading the morning talk shows- Joe Biden has already gotten face time over this- though he is someone who may actually call hearings in the senate over this. Ron Paul has been saying Iran is NOT a threat- to boos of the audience, for a long, long time. Here is his vindication. This is our time to RISE!
I called the campaign and
I called the campaign and just said "Hi I'm a supporter and I don't want to take up your time, so I'll just quickly say that I think a lot of people are hoping Dr. Paul will do a press release about Iran and the NAE. We feel it really vindicates him and that a firm statement might go a long way."
If you call them, just try to make it brief since they need to keep call-answerers opened for new people who are calling to find out about Ron Paul.

Iran's doing the same thing that Iraq did under Hussein
There were no WMD's in Iraq either when our armed forces invaded because Hussein had frozen the programs and dismantled the weapons. Their rulers are smart....of course Hussein and Armadinejad (sp?) told the Bush Administration to sod off and would never publicly bend to his will. They need to save face within the arab community and among their citizens. But secretly they froze the WMD programs and dismantled the weapons because they knew our spy agencies would discover that and relay the information back to our government.
It wasn't enough to stop the invasion of Iraq because Bush/Cheney still had some credibility back then. But now, it is quite likely that Iran just saved its own bacon.
A remarkably good strategy by Iran. They knew they couldn't get a nuclear bomb and a delivery system in time to avert an American or Israeli attack, so they secretly froze the nuclear program instead and allowed our spy agencies to see this.
This is excellent news for the Ron Paul campaign.
and
they call us kooks and looney.
WTFO!!!
I wouldn't grab at this too fast
Does anyone really believe that Iran ISN'T developing a bomb? They would be fools not to. I don't mean to imply that this is a justification for any kind of hostile action against them.
What if they do get a nuke, so what?
We have over 3000 of them. Furthermore, they don't have the missle capacity to deliver a nuke to U.S. soil. Isreal might be in range but anyone with a map can easily see that there is no way to nuke Isreal without also nuking the palestinians as well. Furthermore, if they did that, it would be the end of Iran. Russia and China arent going to defend an unprovoked nuclear strike. Either way, no direct threat to the U.S.
They want a seat at the negotiation table. As an Iranian leader, this would be the best thing to do for your country to add respect and world credability to your country. Thats what the neocons really fear. Having to sit down at the table with these guys. They are still mad that our CIA operations over there backfired and are being stubborn about it. Like Cuba. If it weren't for CIA provocation, we wouldn't have all these little dictators all over the world who hate us. We cannot prevent all the evils and dictators of the world but we can make sure it doesn't happen here in the U.S.!

If I were Iran and I were
If I were Iran and I were surrounded by a superpower country that was beating the war drums the way the US is, I would reach out to any ally i could find and look for any weapon I could get. Fortunately, it appears Iran may be smarter than me.
I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it.

This is only the beginning
This latest news just shows how pathetic the Bush administration really is. I believe this will kill the neocon agenda dead in the water. It's not like we didn't already have a credibility problem with this administration, but now there is no gray area for anyone with half a brain. Bush obviously knew this information before he came out with that commet about WWIII. What we are seeing now by Bush's comments on this story are lies and manipulation for damage control and to cover up the previous lies. Bush is good at playing the blame game and never taking responsiblity. If it gets out of hand, he will just blame the CIA again; a subversive evil organization responsible for overthrowing governments, political assassinations, massive drug running, money laundering, experimentation on U.S. citizens, UFO cover up and many other clandestine operations. If Ron Paul got rid of this unconstitutional organization, I think the world would cheer and maybe we could regain some respect from the rest of the world after the disastrous Bush administration. I heard this news about Iran was actually delayed by a week or two, so that Bush could kick this last minute Middle East peace garbage into high gear. I guess he's scrounging for some kind of a legacy. Although, I think he will go down as the worst president in American history. This news also makes Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Riley look stupid. Of course, we already they were, but this may bring a few more people to look at Ron Paul. These talking heads will be back peddeling now.

If not Iran, it'll be Syria
Yes, George Bush is crazy. So is most of his warmongering, fearmongering adminstration. If they can't convince the world that Iran is harboring nuke's (and they are certainly trying too through the efforts of the mic cutting mouth-foaming people on Fauxnews), then they'll make a shift to Syria to try and regain credibility.

Though, snarkiness aside, I completely agree that a press conference is in order. Brilliant minds think alike. :)

Great beginning. I'm sure there are dozens of similar shots floating around. Think Lieberman, John Bolton, Cheney, Bush, Rudy's foreign policy advisor (Poderetz?), Huckabee, (Bomb, Bomb, Boots on the ground McCain and others.
Maybe like this - Ron Paul is the cool, calm and collected one
Today, the best intelligence organizations that the United States has, came to the conlusion that Iran had no nuclear weapons program since 2003. Meanwhile, talk radio, the network news, and the nation's leading newspapers all pushed the Iran Nuclear crisis almost to the point of sending a pre-emptive Nuclear strike on Iran. The entire Republican field with the exception or Ron Paul, and even most of the Democrat candidates pushed this dangerous position. Are these people really cool, calm and collected enough to be the Commander in Chief? Obviously recent statements tell us no. So who do we choose for President now, it looks like Ron Paul was not a kook after all, but rather a majority of the other candidates willing to nuke a country over something they did not understand or have the ability to comprehend were.
