White House To Propagandize Television Shows

On September 10th of this year the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) posted a press release informing the world that “from October 19-25, more than 60 network TV shows [will] spotlight the power and personal benefits of service,” and that this “unprecedented block of TV programming is the first wave of a multi-year ‘I Participate’ campaign.”

On its face this all sounds rather benign in that silly, liberal do-gooder kind of way. The networks have launched these kinds of campaigns before and other than some clunky exposition awkwardly inserted into your favorite show to meet the mandate — no harm, no foul.

But this year there are a couple new strangers in town: “Volunteerism” and “Service.” You’ve heard of them. Their names have been bandied everywhere since President Obama took office, and this internal memo from the EIF to network showrunners obtained by Big Hollywood shows that the entertainment industry is well acquainted and eager to introduce both to as vast an audience as possible:

I noticed "volunteerism"

I noticed "volunteerism" themes in "The Office' and "Parks and Rec" so far. Weird

For an informed citizenry, individuals must discard the television set in favor of the acquisition of information via either books and/or the internet. An uneducated populous will remain in ignorance and thus continue to suffer the sharp ax of tyranny.

Local propaganda too

My Wisconsin county is trying to pass a "Comprehensive Plan" (aka smart growth or Agenda 21) to control land use. Under the chapter titled 'Possible Future Implementation Tools' under 'Education Efforts' is found this line,

"Establishing community consensus on regulatory issues, positive structural arrangements, and acceptable efficiencies will require extensive education and communication."

Governments now think it is their job to mold public opinion even at the local level. We don't have a propaganda czar in our comprehensive plan but we do have a "designated custodian" who "could be that entity that helps maintain local government compliance with (State) consistency requirements."

This "I Participate" campaign sounds like the precursor to the..

"I Will Obey" campaign...and the "I Will Rat Out Dissenters" campaign.

As noble as "volunteering" and "service" might be, this propaganda program should send chills up people's spines when we know that Obama and Rahm Emanuel want these things to be mandatory.

An audience for that is a populace

without worthwhile occupations.

Another reason to turn off

Another reason to turn off the boob tube, I reckon.
