This is a little dated, but very relevant...why isn't Beck, the town crier, bringing this up? Oh, because he's in on it. IMHO

On September 10th, President Obama reinstituted the national State of Emergency first declared by George W. Bush on September 14, 2001 by placing the following language in the Federal Register.
The terrorist threat that led to the declaration on September 14, 2001, of a national emergency continues. For this reason, I have determined that it is necessary to continue in effect after September 14, 2009, the national emergency with respect to the terrorist threat.

Think the claims may be a bit over stated

They can't bring the troops home
Because of the fact that the REAL Terrorists are in DC.
Bought and paid for by the likes of Goldman Sach's and large Multinational Corporations that profit off wars.
There are "rules"
that require the President to announce to Congress the continuation of any "emergency" that is requiring him to operate under "emergency powers".
I forget how often, but I think it's something like every 2 years.
He doesn't have to "ask" them to continue it. He just informs them that he's continuing it, and they don't have anything to say about it.
Basically, this country has been operating under "emergency powers"(which are essentially the same as "war powers), since FDR declared it in 1933.
Every president continues the "emergency" of some sort or other, and alot of the Constitutional aspects of gov't go out the window in those scenarios.
It's part of their scam.
According to the article, every 6 months Congress is to review.
"Under the 1976 National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. 1601-1651), Congress is required to review presidentially declared emergencies. Specifically, “not later than six months after a national emergency is declared, and not later than the end of each six-month period thereafter that such emergency continues, each House of Congress shall meet to consider a vote on a joint resolution to determine whether that emergency shall be terminated.” Over the past eight years, Congress has failed to obey its own law, a fact that casts doubt on the legality of the state of emergency."

I don't think Congress have ever voted to terminate any emergency, have they ever?
Not sure, but since Obama formally reinstituted this one...

The Washington Post states that Vice President Richard Cheney initiated the COG plan on 9/11 (“From the bunker, Cheney officially implemented the emergency continuity of government orders . . . .”)
Is that why the government:
Suspended habeas corpus?
Has been spying on Americans?
Won't enforce the laws?
Is basically “deputizing” corporations to act as sheriffs in the event of martial law?
Is training pastors to preach obedience to martial law?
Are all of these actions based upon a COG form of government?

Q. On 9/11, Continuity of Government procedures were implemented. Are we still operating under COG? Is this the reason why Congress cannot do anything, because they literally have no power? Even the Committee on Homeland Security, which has proper clearance, has been denied access to the detailed documents. Has Congress been prohibited, legally, from talking about COG? The American people deserve to know what structure of government we're living under, and we appreciate you clarifying this for us. Congress clearly has no oversight over secret operations of the Executive Branch. What do the American People need to do to restore co-equal branches of government, given this scenario?

Kucinich: Well, Congress does have power and is acting, whether it's acting wisely is another question. The president set a couple months ago an executive order that continued this emergency that existed... after 9/11.
I think that the questions that have been raised about Continuity of Government are very serious, because they relate as to whether or not the president can take us into a state of emergency and suspend the Constitution. We need to know what the rules are here. Members of Congress have made efforts to try to get the documents from the administration, that relate to continuity of government, and not been able to obtain them. This is something that I'm very concerned about, that I have followed, that I'll continue to follow up on.

It sounds like coup d'etat to me.
The executive branch has usurped the other branches, denied Congress access to information, and privately set up its own power structure.
Kucinich went on to list various things the administration did that compromised the Constitution and said that COG should not be about power grab.
But that is what it has become and Obama has continued on with it.
I wonder if Kucinich has even considered that they might be dealing with a coup.
I think he has considered it
but I want to know why no one is pushing this anymore? Are they afraid?
I wonder if Dr. Paul or Judge Napolitano would talk about it.

And Bush merely reinstituted Clinton's and Clinton Bush's
and Bush Reagan's and Reagan Carter's and Carter Nixon's. I think it goes back even further but I'm sure it goes at least to Nixon.
