What it means to be alive!

I live in a more rural part of Michigan surrounded by woodland and agriculture. Have you every been to Michigan in the fall? Like many areas of the country the trees are changing in a glorious burst of color right now. The maples are bright red with a backdrop of oaks colored orange like fire and dark green pines that accent the beauty. The ground cover offers the same visual stimulations with burning bushes, tall grasses, hearty green evergreens and fallen leaves. Then all of this with yet another beautiful back drop of a cold blue sky and bright loving sun.
The day time temps this time of year range from 40 degrees yesterday to about 58 today. At night were hittin 28 degrees.

I stepped out this morning and just simply took it all in. I looked up at the sky and put my arms out and took a giant breath of the fresh air around me. Damn it's good to be alive!

I have a stealth deer camera in the woods behind the house and have captured some real majestic animals lurking in their own world totally oblivious to the world we know. I walked out in the woods this morning to pull the memory chip out and replace it with a new one and kicked up a group of 4 deer. Have you ever seen deer prance through the woods? They do it so effortlessly unencumbered by dead fall or trees. They leap and prance with their white tails in the air like a real cool flag . Damn is good to be alive!

Last week a few of my brothers came out lit a fire in the stone firepit on the back corner of my property. The night air was cold but the hypnotic heat of the fire drew us in. We didn't sit, we stood there for a couple hours listening to screech owls and animals rustling around in the woods while drinking our October brew. We looked up at the star lit sky that seemed to go on and on into infinity reminding us of how small we really are. Damn is it good to be alive!

We live in a wonder world you and I. It all gets obscured at times with daily distractions, news and politics.

Do me a favor...

Go out and remind yourself what all this is about.

We have little time and it goes quick.

Refine your appreciation for life and freedom. Come back and tell us about it!

Remember why we are here..

Great post!

The best part of living in the country
for me is having one big urinal.
I would also much rather listen to
the sceams of coyotes than those
of the next door neighbor.
Thanks again for the refreshing post.
Cheers!

Lol. I can see your inspirational quote popping up everywhere...

...on calendars and postcards with rural scenes.

Too funny. :P

Waiting for .....

the call back from Hallmark.

Thanks for taking us there!

It is good and proper to respect the U.S. flag, perpetuated with the blood of American heroes. It is a fatal mistake not to recognize those who wrap themselves in the same flag to cover up their crimes against the American people.

You must have huge lungs to live at that elevation!

I'm sure most of us would be unable to function way up there. Rocky Mountain High!

I bet its grand!
