Hey guys, help me come up with a good question for my Congressman tomorrow

Ask his opinion on Printz v US and what he considers your sheriff's position of authority in regards to federal infringements. Since he's federal, he will not like to concede power. You'll certainly get a "constitutional feel" for your rep with this question.

For some reason, we're expected to know every law that exists in America & in our state so we don't break it. We're supposed to know this when we're 18. There's no litmus test for them, as in the 10 commandments or rhyme or reason. C.U.R.E.

Constitution. Ask him to recite Article 1, Sect. 8 which states the limitations & authority Congress has. He should be able to get at least 5.

The President has stated, and I assume you agree, that the inflation of health care costs is so serious, it is unsustainable. I applaud your focus on inflation. Do you also recognize that even if health care reform does what you hope, unsound monetary policy will negate your progress? So what exactly does sound monetary policy mean to you?

Why did the TARP only recognize assets acquired before that day? And then hold up a baggie with your birth certificate in it and make everyone pledge alliegance to it--that's always fun!

DO NOT ASK A YES/NO QUESTION - It gives your subject an easy out and they can spin the question... DO NOT ask multiple questions in your question - they will likely go with the easiest question and not answer what your intended question is... Do not make assumptions in your statement/question - it makes you look like you are unfairly biased... by wording your question the correct way and keeping it open ended, it puts the pressure on your subject.

Example:

Your Question: Do you think it’s time to address the issue of paper money printed out of thin air and it’s economic ramifications?

Proposed Question: With all of the economic concerns and unprecedented printing of money, how are you going to limit additional spending by government which will ultimately render the health care useless when we go broke (ok, that was an assumption...).

Your Question: Do you intend to cosponsor HR1207 the Federal Reserve Transparency Act, of which has a supermajority of 305 cosponsers, so we can find out what the Fed has really done with the trillions in bailout funds?"

Proposed Question: President Obama has said he wants a transparent administration. There are 305 co-sponsors of HR1207 (FRTA) which will open up the secrecy of the nation's central bank. I notice that you are not one of them but I know you are a noble representative of the people. How do you plan on supporting this bill and helping your constituents understand the importance how our Federal Reserve works? - or - When are you going to support this important and historic bill? (if he/she doesn't support it, at the very least he has to give an answer that may put him/her at risk).

Seriously though, what you have is good, a little wordy. I'd be surprised if they didn't interrupt you with a, "do you have a question??" remark.

My brief idea:

"Since the healthcare industry is nearly 1/5 of our GDP and the dollar's value is sinking to new lows, wouldn't you think it would be a good idea to have more transparency of the Federal Reserve? And if so, why haven't you joined the now 305 co-sponsors of HR1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act??"
