What is a birth certificate ?
A piece of paper can be held by anyone, anytime, anywhere & by another person ..Unless there is a document verified that has matching finger prints or foot prints at birth, a piece of paper with seals or any other fancy verification proves nothing...I have yet to see a document of a footprint with whatever his name was at birth, on it.. When you find the document with BC's foot print on it you will know his real birth name & when , where, he was born..GOOD luck you will need it.

Another anachronism
To begin with, even in the Third World I'd expect birth certificates to be much more legible. (Maybe the handwriting is an attempt to avoid a Dan Rather type giveaway, since the forger may have been unable to get his hands on a working 1960 vintage typewriter.)
The date is scrawled in American, not British, style. Have you noticed how, while the birthplace is being disputed, nobody doubts the date of birth??
In 1961, Kenya had already been given independence by the UK. During the colonial period of Kenya, Mombasa was across the border - in Zanzibar, and was not ceded to Kenya until 1963. Moreover, Mombasa is 300 miles away, on rough and sometimes non-existent roads, from the Obama ancestral village; getting there means a deliberate decision not to go to Nairobi or other cities with hospitals or midwives much closer, and to have the baby across a boundary that, at the time, would give the baby a nationality different from either parent.
