WASHINGTON (AFP) – A new poll released Tuesday found most Americans support one of the most controversial healthcare reform options being debated by lawmakers.
The Washington Post-ABC News poll found 57 percent of Americans either strongly or somewhat support "having the government create a new health insurance plan to compete with private health insurance plans."

This is a poll headline fallacy
Even if 57% prefer a public option, that does not infer overall scope.
Inferring the same 57% would also mandate a universal health care overhaul is a false assumption.
It's akin to suggesting that those who support giving inmates on death row a more humane way to die must also be supporters of capital punishment.
But you can support more humane ways to put somebody to death, while being against the death penalty.
What does that poll deal with again?
There's a huge difference in a gubment "insurance plan" that would compete with existing insurance companies and not re-write our whole health care system to include stiff penalties for those opting out, higher taxes, bigger bureaucracy...and on and on
And....
The actual health care bill.
Everyone pull a poll out of their azz, twist its meaning, and make it "prove" the point you personally side with....MSM 101 thanks to Ron Paul
