Dead Babies in Iraq and Afghanistan are No Joke
The horrors of the US Agent Orange campaign in Vietnam, about which I wrote on Oct. 15, could ultimately be dwarfed by the horrors of the depleted uranium weapons which the US began using in the 1991 Gulf War (300 tons), and which it used much more extensively, and in more urban, populated areas, in the Iraq War and the now intensifying Afghanistan War.
While the Pentagon has continued to claim, against all scientific evidence, there is no hazard posed by depleted uranium, US troops in Iraq have reportedly been instructed to avoid any sites where these weapons have been used—destroyed Iraqi tanks, exploded bunkers, etc. Suspiciously, international health officials have been prevented from doing medical studies of DU sites

If DU is harmless as is claimed, may I suggest...
that all congressmen, military personnel, the President and Veep included who think it is safe, should be required by law to sleep with a nugget of it under their pillow and should have to wear a charm necklace of it.
That way we know for sure, when they don't develop cancer or have deformed babies, that it is in fact perfectly safe.
Of course they won't do it. And If I get a visit from the SS on this post, then that will prove they all know that stuff is dangerous. Which begs the question, doesn't that make everyone in the chain of command, including the president guilty of war crimes?

DU means the US is all powerful
Depleted uranium is super dense and super hard. Way harder and denser than steel or tungsten. The only country in the world with the $$ (such as it is) and the facilities to produce it in large quantities is the US. In the 80s US tanks were modified with a layer of DU armor and given DU armor piercing rounds. This means in practice US tanks are frontally immune to all but very close range direct impacts of enemy tank rounds. So US tanks can sit outside the extremely reduced kill range of enemy tanks and shoot back with DU rounds while protected by DU armor. DU rounds are astoundingly effective because nothing can stop them except perhaps DU armor. I remember seeing videos after Gulf War I where US DU tank rounds had passed through several feet of earthen fortification then punched through the frontal armor of an Iraqi tank and then there was an exit hole out the back of the tank. The DU round went clean through all of that. As a result it's pointless to directly confront the US army. There is essentially zero chance of winning. One could argue this has had an impact on US foreign policy. Try getting a neocon to give that up.

mailed a bag of depleted uranium to London. Great Britain went on nuclear alert.
So it is perfectly safe for our troops to use it on them
but look out if they bring it back here?

Where oh Where are all of the "enviromental nazi's" on this real, permanent enviromental hazard? Oh right, wanting to go after you for folllowing the evidence from NASA that the Sun controls temperature in the solar system.
But then again the "Final Soultion" to the "carbon problem", was the same as that German guy's, so I guess we not only have to kill the people, but the enviroment as well, in order to "save" it...
Only people this deluded could believe that auctioning the right to continue to pollute solves the problem of toxic waste disposal and hard core corporate pollution, that is a million times more severe than that gas you exhale after you take a breath...

What is so sad is that there are so many people in this country that are either in staunch denial that DU is bad or that we are even using it, or if they are aware of the dangers they will outright agree with using it because they view everyone "over there" as "evil terrorists." These types of people view others as subhuman. Unfortunately, they are no more likely to suffer retribution for this than any of us. We don't support this, but we are going to have to pay for their sins. Wonderful.
And cover it with government lies...
