Joint Economic Committee

How did Dr. Paul get on the Joint Economic Committee? It is such a small group of congressmen. I just happened to think about it when I was reading my political science chapter on congressional committees. There are only four joint committees and Dr. Paul has the privilege of sitting on this committee. There are only four Republicans on it too! Obviously, Dr. Paul knows the most about how we should approach economic policy in the entire congress, however I'm still surprised that the Republican leadership would allow this.

It is probably due to seniority.

And I think it could be that while we think everyone but Dr. Paul is evil, they may not be. It may be that there are some good people there, but they simply don't understand the issue as well as he does and they recognize that. So they put him on the committee. One out of four Republicans still makes him only 25% of the Republican contingent and that is probably an accurate representation of fiscal conservatives in the party today.
