Shall we teach Cong. Ed Towns (D-NY-10) a lesson?

It seems Congressman Towns is a ninny baby. He and his partners in crime in the Government Oversight Committee (did I read that right government overseeing itself?) were caught on camera slipping out of a meeting when a vote was called for a subpoena over the Countrywide scandal, particular concerning contributions the company made to Senators Chris Dodd & Kent Conrad, both fellow travelers. (The act of all of the committee's Democrats leaving the meeting left the remaining Republican members without a quorum to call the vote.)

Mr. Towns was miffed that as chairman his permission wasn't sought before the motion was introduced. Apparently Mr. Towns believes he is some sort of small tinpot dictator and doesn't understand the rules of parliamentary procedure.

In admitted retaliation, Mr. Towns literally LOCKED republicans out of the committee chambers so they cannot attend meetings. Somehow, he thinks he has authority to do this and that his committee will retain legitimacy. How long Mr. Towns intends on preventing Republican committee members from attending meetings and hearings is anyone's guess. The committee is scheduled to hold a hearing next Wednesday October, 28th on “Executive Compensation: How Much is Too Much?”

Personally, I think Mr. Towns should be expelled from the House for such behavior, or at the very least, lose his chairmanship and committee assignment to this committee. Such nonsense is beyond excuse and is conduct unbecoming a United States Congressman. His actions bring shame and disgrace upon the House and the Committee, as well as call into question legitimacy of any meetings held which bar members from a particular political party. I will be calling all of the Congressmen from my State to request they introduce such a resolution.

To contact other members on the committee as well visit: http://oversight.house.gov/about/members.asp for a listing of members with links to each Congressman's official website. (Republican members names conspicuously do not link out, only Democrat members do. You will have to search for Republican contact information yourself)
