Chinese 'cat-girl' baffles doctors
A six-year-old Chinese girl has doctors puzzled after thick grey hair started growing all over her body, earning her the nickname "cat-girl".

Slavery...

it's someone's desire for us all. Of course China will be omitted from the Copenhagen treaty so they can continue to be the polluted manufacturing backbone of a new global government; but of course this world is ALL of ours. How long will we watch "big corp" (and by that I mean not only the openly corporate corporations, but the covert corporations that robe themselves in the disguise of "government") destroy us and our world for their profit and because of their hatred toward sovereignty and Liberty. We might be part of this revolution, but we are not simply the only ones who need to be freed nor the only ones under the pressing hand of hate and tyranny. Remember that your struggle to free yourself has effect on many others, freeing yourself is a gift of inspiration to others. Never forget that.

In college I spent a short

In college I spent a short time there and yes they are some of the most kind and honest people I have ever met (not the leaders of course).

There is a cancer village

about an hour's drive from our beautiful, "garden city" of Xiamen. Its called Feng Wei. According to one report, cancer rates in this village and surrounding areas make up for 2/3 of Fujian Province's cancer related deaths.

There is progress though. I recently had to make a visa trip to Hong Kong and was shocked to find this village on the front page of the Hong Kong newspapers. They reported over 10,000 locals clashing with riot police over a chemical treatment plant polluting the water supply in Feng Wei.

Apparently it got pretty wild, with locals bum rushing the facility and also taking one of the local government officials hostage after days of protests. He was reported as being hospitalized in critical condition but details were limited. Unfortunately, when I came back to Xiamen the next day, no one had any idea of the uprisings just down the road...The media control in the mainland is heavy to say the least. I've also heard of no direct improvements since the uprisings of nearly a month and a half ago...

On the bright side, a few years ago, about the same number of folks took to the streets here in Xiamen and prevented the government from cutting a nearly completed deal for a chemical treatment plant to be built here.

My girlfriend was in university at the time during the protests. Her teachers warned her and her classmates not to participate in any protests or they would be expelled from the university. She heard rumors later on that many students were caught and beaten, but of course, its impossible to confirm. I wasn't here at the time either.

Still, its encouraging to see people taking a stand, especially while fully aware of how the odds are stacked. Quite inspiring.

When I was there

I saw ENORMOUS mounds of trash on both sides of the train tracks for miles going into Guang Zou. Disgusting, and very depressing.

We has some sayings..

After being in China, "it's good to be back in Taiwan so we can breathe some fresh air".

Then, "it's good to be back in NYC so we can breathe some fresh air".

And "it's good to be back in New Jersey so we can breathe some fresh air."

Now, it's good to be back in PA so we can breathe some fresh air (right up the road from Three Mile Island)

If you take Amtrak here in

If you take Amtrak here in America, you'll see the same - homeless camps, mounds of trash, hazardous waste barrels laying along the tracks out in the open, and offensive graffiti. I was shocked when, the first and only time I traveled on Amtrak for any long distance, to see how widespread it really is.

Ever smell the paper mill in York? PA has great fresh air, but that paper mill destroys York. It's like hot garbage
