Baird says Hedrick can’t win because of his association with the Paul Camp.
A Ron Paul insider who gained access to a fundraiser meeting with Brain Baird has just passed on some shocking information. Brian Baird has made comments behind closed doors suggesting that David Hedrick cannot beat him in 2010 because he shares too many of the views of Ron Paul. Baird went on to claim that Hedrick will not be able to raise sufficient funds to compete and will go the same way the last “fringe radical so-called Constitutionalist” to challenge him. This is the same Brian Baird who called town hall protesters brown shirts and claimed they were terrorists making reference to Timothy McVeigh. There is reason to believe he was referring to Hedrick when he said this. Apparently Baird said, “Paul’s supporters talk a good game, but in the end they can’t get the job done, as we saw in 2008”. Baird also claimed that Hedrick could have had a fighting chance since he was embraced by the mainstream conservative establishment, but his choice to take controversial stands on the war and the Federal Reserve, will alienate him from the mainstream conservatives and prevent him from raising the funds to be competitive. Baird referred to the last time he was challenge by a Ron Paul type candidate calling the amount of money he was able to raise, “laughable”.
This type of thing makes me furious! Baird can easily raise a million and started this election cycle with over $600,000. What can we do? I am proud that David Hedrick took this stand instead of the easy route with the mainstream conservatives, but how can he win facing this kind of money. This makes me sick.

Hmmmmmm.....I think they are scared shitless and this is just another talking point to get people to believe that voting for a real freedom candidate is a wasted vote. I believe from what I see on the issue of foreign policy that David has a very similar statement as Rand Paul does. If there is a demand for more clarity on this issue from David then shouldn't there be the same demand for Rand?

I looked at both statements side by side and you are right on the money. I just sent out an e-mail to 300+ friends encouraging them to pledge support to Hedrick on thisnovember5th.com. I am already getting “I just did” responses.
I also called my wife who is at a large women’s retreat weekend with our church. She made an announcement and she said the blackberry’s and I-phones came out. I will do my part on the 5th. Will everyone else? Spread the word people. These money bombs still amaze me.
I will pray about this tonight. Hedrick will need our financial support and our prayers. I don't live in his district, but I don't care. Baird will eat those words!

I read the forum on this website and many others (pro-gun websites) daily. I have never taken the step of becoming a member and posting on any of them. Instead, I read, I am informed, and I discuss the issues raised here with my family and friends.
I have finally signed up and became a member because what I have seen here today makes me furious. It is one thing to face this kind of INSULT from a politician like Baird. Just google him on line if you need any reason to despise this man. It is another thing all together to watch someone who pretends to be one of us, do everything in his power to tear down a candidate that stood by his LIBERTY convictions even though he knew what this would cost him in the election.
G- You not only insist that Hedrick share every single one of your views, but you also absurdly demand that he proclaim those views in YOUR WORDS. Do you really assume, your views are the only ones anyone is to have? Why don’t you contact Hedrick and demand to write his position statements and speeches for him. Don’t forget to inform him of the inflection he is to use in his voice when delivering these speeches. Better yet, why don’t you run for office yourself instead of sitting in your mothers basement and slandering what appears to be a good man. If you are soooo intelligent and informed, surely you could win an election anywhere in a landslide.
As Liberty_Belle said, Hedrick’s statements are just like Rand Paul’s. I have supported both Rand Paul and his father, but this has nothing to do with the fact that they have Paul in their name. I stand for the same principles they do, but I do not worship them or their name. Liberty_Belle made a great point. You do not hold Rand to the same standard as David. Again….I support Rand Paul, but no more than any other Liberty candidate who shares my political goals. Supporting someone, simply because they have Paul behind their name, flies against everything we believe in this county. We do not have dynasties here. Rand is great, but I expect him to stand on his own. Thank God he does. I don’t care who his father is! I am a Patriot and not a member of a cult where I worship some leader and his offspring.
The founders of this nation did not agree on everything. They had huge debates over the language in the Constitution and the role of government. To proclaim that you will never get behind any candidate who does not share your every view, exactly without any room for disagreement or language variation (unless of course he is a Paul), is absurd. There were men like you in our founding fathers days who refused to stand together with other patriots because they did not share their every view…they called them Tory!
I will stand with Hedrick because from what I have seen and read, in his heart he is one of us. He doesn’t have to agree with every one of my positions or be exactly aligned with me on every issue if you could measure such a thing. He stands behind the U.S. Constitution as written and interprets it honestly to the best of his ability. There is room for differences if we have that in common. I for one, find honor there.
I’ve been considering selling an expensive shot gun I have for some time. Don’t worry, I have others. It is too nice to take out hunting so it just sits in the safe. I have been thinking about selling it and using the proceeds to repair the deck on my house.
