I responded to this moron a month ago

She generalizes a single incident to oppress MJ.

My response then was:
"How do you know that someone planted MJ on him [John]? Perhaps he was a dealer.

Biased much?

Years ago, I knew a drug dealer who was the hardest working guy I knew...and he had lots of blue collar and business skills. He constantly had both weed and lots of cash on him."

The dealers that last tend to be guys just like *John*.

Anyway, then she asks if the cost of enforcing a law worth it. That is a dumb question. It's a law...the cost is irrellevant.

The real question is: should this be a law?
I say no.

Legalization

and decriminalization are two seperate issues at this pjoint.

Get it yet?

It water legalized? NO - but almost criminalized - YES.

Is squash legalized? regulated? not yet. But almost.

They made it illegal to capitolize on everything else utill there was no ELSE to capitolize on. Then they will "legalize it" so they can run the game from there on out. Only grow this much they will say, these kinds... and this tall... blah blah blah. Pfft.

Even the hippes will be dupped.

yes

the only way to freedom is through freedom, itself.

That's like saying...

Are you sure prohibition should be ended? Uh... Yes, I'm sure.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." ~ Margaret Mead

Hemp/Cannibis are far too abundant and cannot

provide the scarcity necessary to reap profits so by making it illegal this false scarcity makes it valuable to these criminals in business. Sad but true...

The Cato Institute perspective is excellent

I followed Shellys' lead to read from the article linked on her website. Here's a shortcut to it here: http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=10080

Decriminalization, not legalization should be the best we, who love liberty, could hope for. Portugals' seven yr. experience with this should be held up to all legislators as a reference to a real-life national policy that's actually working.

Mell_o_Drama,

could you edit out some of the dashes in the --------------- line of your rambling post below. It's screwing up the proper display of the thread.

You mean decriminalized. God didn't make mary & Juana

illegal. & Let me tell you something about this war on drugs. Pot & that s a fitting term for it cause plants are in a pot, belongs next to the poinsettias & lilies. The government has caused any + all deaths associated w/ the war on drugs. Disputes that could be otherwise handled in a court of law are not entertained. At minimum, they are thrown out -- which resorts to the settling of disputes on the street. It is unfortunate that the deaths the criminal justice system produces are not reported. When an officer guns down a suspect, they have exclusive access to the crime scene afterward & go on admin leave. You also cannot expect the police , FBI, anyone whose job it is to eradicate drugs from the street to make the problem go away. Show me a person who is interested in losing their job security, show me a person whose interested in making their job go away, or receiving a reduction in salary. NO gov't employee has a vested interest in losing their job or pension. This could be alleviated if they lost their job security, which gov't employees shouldn't have. Nobody in any trade has an interest in losing their job security or income.

For some reason, we're expected to know every law that exists in America & in our state so we don't break it. We're supposed to know this when we're 18. There's no litmus test for them, as in the 10 commandments or rhyme or reason. C.U.R.E. Thank God for bugs, they're company for people in solitary confinement. Isn't it unfair that the police can drive someone to the hospital & go thru a red light & noone else can?

Please back off on the dashes

If you edit them back by half, it'll help the format fit on the screen the way it should.

Thanks, and you're right on decriminalization.

Way to go, Promisekept

Now Mello_o_Drama's post cannot be edited, except by a mod, because you replied to his/her original post!

Did you notice that I asked Mell_o_Drama the same thing with a new post, instead of a reply?

I did notice, but was unaware of the edit disabling it caused

Oops my bad.

Mods to the rescue, please!

Too bad that Mell_o_Drama

wouldn't keep track, and pay attention to his/her posts.
But not unusual on this forum.

funny

how the focus is on marijuana. The gentleman seemed to be doing just fine other than the occasional independent contractor.

The actual tragedy of the story in the video is how a man's life was ruined by the police state.

And it's important to

And it's important to remember that the police state does not function very well without its network of snitches, informers and other bearers of false witness, such as the slacker/thief that was fired by the contractor in this example. We might all be a part of the police state if we're not thoughtful in our decision-making.

My son is sitting in prison because Marijuana was

the only thing that he could get to help him live half way normal.
He was diagnosed Schizophrenia but the anti-psychotic medicines
did not help him. Weed made him normal. I suspect he has temporal lobe epilepsy as weed has been shown to help it, but getting a diagnosis
for temporal lobe epilepsy is not an easy thing to do once you have
been diagnosed Schizophrenia.
So now he is sitting in prison crazier than bat shit because he can not get
the only medicine that helped him.

I sympathize with your plight

Candance, I can hear your sons' "normal" voice mourning with yours over the systemic travesty your world is enmeshed in.

My hope is that somehow, by adding my voice to yours here, along with this video Shelly did so well, together, a tipping point might soon be reached.

Neo-cons, be they blue-blood or red-neck, are waking up to certain economic realities. Endless wars on multiple fronts, including the covert/overt war on drugs, have caused many to question why they are being asked to risk their lives and the well-being of their families at home when so many innocent are devastated in the course of "doing our job, just followin' orders".

Progressives, as they love to call themselves, are waking up to realize that just saying you want to be free doesn't make it so. Many of them gave up their personal responsibilities for party and/or union loyalty and got slavery to a debt system for it. I believe the largest group of victims in the drug wars come from those who hold the progressive view that you can give government this kind of nearly limitless power, and somehow not get entangled by it.

We need enough people to recognize again that Liberty is not a goal of government to define and conform others to, but instead a Gift from our Creator, which We the People created government to protect and serve.

Again, Candance, thank you for helping make this real to us.

You and your son are in my prayers.

This should be a 10th amendment issue

Feds should be put "back in the box" of limited enumerated powers. If people understood this we could each live in the state that reflects our personal choices & have more individual freedom, where some states legalize an others do not.

Hey, I dislike Obama as much as anyone, but at least he's throwing us a small breadcrumb by following the tenth amendment regarding this issue.

marijuana can be useful, and I believe a medicine, if it is not abused. It is just like anything else, you have to limit your intake. I think it should be legalized, what you do with it is up to you. I don't need the medical benefits of marijuana, so I don't use it, some people do need it, and I think they should be allowed to use it.

and maybe a little thirsty

I drink lots of water and hang out in the sun if I OD ;)

I might even be found riding bikes with my son, or teaching him about the universe, weeding the garden or tending to my chickens while in an OD'd state. Life is rough with an addiction like grass. Ha ha!!!

Overdosing on weed gives me panic attacks
