At least it is not cradle to grave ... LOL.
This guy is not even a Republican, much less a conservative.
A quote ...
"The Commission specifically will examine a new financial aid proposal: to provide children born in Kentucky with a college savings account on the day of their birth. Ideally, the account would be funded so that families could afford at least a community or technical college education.
In turn, every high school senior who wishes to cash in his or her account to attend college would provide community or military service in Kentucky. There will be incentives for those who stay in KY to pursue their careers, particularly those who pursue lower-paying, but socially-beneficial professions – such as teaching, law enforcement, social work and the military."
Doesn't this sound much like the Rahm Emanual initiative to mandate community service?
Lottery ....
Cradle to college ....
co founded by Jonathan Miller ....
former Bill Clinton supporter ...
Son of a banker that was a recipient of TARP money ....
A man that tried to steal money from a widow and was found to be attempting to do such a thing by a court of law ...
A former Democrat ...
Oh and I forgot ...
A Northern Kentuckian ....
These are all primary campaign advantages for Rand.

Military service in Kentucky ? ? ? ?
Sounds odd.
If a government that
If a government that regularly runs a deficit offers to create a savings account for you that same government will then loot that savings account for the public good.
But this is...
... ~for the children~
The world's officially gone
The world's officially gone mad!
I thought the link would lead to some smear page trying to discredit Grayson, and it turns out it's his own page! He's proud of this stuff! WTF! Are they smoking that blue grass back there, or what is going on...
bump
good post Rhino.

“The most important element of a free society, where individual rights are held in the highest esteem, is the rejection of the initiation of violence.” Dr. Ron Paul
Stuff like this is certainly an incremental step...
...toward Rahm's diabolical vision.
As the economy falls apart, more and more people will feel forced into that option. So even though it isn't mandated, it will be harder and harder to avoid.
I remember John Kerry also having some kind of plan that tied college aid to service.
One bump for the updated title and commentary.
This is too good not to be used by the Paul Campaign in the Primary.
They want to use lottery revenue as seed money.
Ask the veterans what they think about that and why they originally voted to legalize the lottery in the state.
WAHOR!!

The veterans?
What do you mean?
The lottery had strong disapproval ratings ....
And to this day, still does in Kentucky.
This state has dozens of dry counties to this day.
The baptist creed still rules in much of the state.
When the push, politically, started, they promised half the revenue for veterans benefits.
The idea became a winner.
The problem is ...
not a single dime went to veteran's benefits.
The lottery, to this day, remains a hot button item in the state.
There are strong forces against it, not the least of which is the horse racing industry.
This Cradle to College idea is a very black mark on Grayson's conservative credentials.
It may not look like it from an outsider, but this vein runs deep.
The bigger question is how Rand could use this to his advantage in the primary without suffering consequences in the general.

Well, in the primary, he will be appealing to Republicans, so...
...the comparison of Trey's plan to Kerry's might be good.
I was a kid when the lottery came to Ohio and if I recall correctly, the selling point was that money would go toward the schools.
I don't think that went as planned.
Regarding Trey's lottery scheme, some folks would have to be wondering if the state would use the lottery money for his plan, why won't they honor the veteran plan?
This all unfolded in '87.
But the memories are etched in stone.
Many veterans, to this day, including my father, are still convinced that they were used.
Most were opposed to it but became vocal advocates based on how they were selling it.

A link regarding John Kerry's plan:
"At the heart of Kerry's national service agenda is his proposal to tie aid for college tuition to service in America's communities... Kerry's "Compact with the Next Generation" would offer an attractive reciprocal bargain to America's youth: four years free tuition at a public college or university in exchange for two years of national service."

Me thinks Trey has been peekin' at the Democratic playbook.
Hey, I noticed Trey doesn't have a Kentucky accent. Is he a real Kentuckian? :P
Rhino, do you have one?
Edit- Rhino, when you say he tried to steal money from a widow, are you talking about what you posted a while back on another thread where someone had sued Trey and won for him having influenced her father to exclude her from his will?
