I thought I would share about an old roomate that just called me up today. He had always cringed whenever he saw me watching Beck back in 2006-7, thought he was a nut. As we talked the subject of the economy came up and here's what he told me:
"I always thought that Beck guy was a raving lunatic and avoided his show, but he made some real sense the other day, talking about inflation and the economy. We can't just print out all this money and expect it not to have an effect on the value of the dollar or its purchasing power."

I took the time to reaffirm this, explain the economy, the quasi usefulness and reliability of Glen Beck, but most importantly I told him about Ron Paul and how he's been saying this for years and what we can do about this issue and some videos he can watch.
As long as we can catch the people right after Beck wakes them up I think Beck can be a positive.

I was at a meeting in NC last night, and his name comes up constantly. I try not to start anything, but i don't know where to start.These are good hearted people that really want change and yet when I mention Dr. Paul, they just stare at me blankly, It is so sad, They want to empty the congress of everyone and I let them know, Not everyone. And Beck hits the nail on the head in places, it's just that he is reiterating our Doctor and if he really woke up, he would give the credit to where it is due and we would have many other readers here at the Daily Paul. so tell me, I want to know, why does he not like our man? Ron has the answers they want, yes, I know he is a shill and all, but why espose Ron's ideas then? anyone?

Try to educate them on
engineered consent and phony conflict, i.e. fake left/right in fake opposition.
Point out that the controllers(owners) of the mass communication sources have far more in common w/ each other than they have w/ regular American citizens. This is very difficult to do and unfortunately I think your best chance for success, methodical one-on-one, is very slow and tedious. By one-on-one I mean you must try to convert one at a time rather than attempting all at once.
The BBC documentary, "Century of Self" is excellent for insight/evidence both to the elites desire and means of mass thought manipulation.
I would also ask them to do a sizzle and steak experiment. The MSM sizzle is that the D's are for X and the R's are for Y but examining the steak proves that is just false propaganda. Show them the reality of the steak, that on every issue of importance both parties have walked happily hand in hand down the same path for some time while pretending they are fighting each other and have differing agendas. For example, Immigration "Reform", the D's play the role FOR "legalizing" illegals and the R's pretend they are fighting that but in fact they BOTH continue to "compromise" for legalization. Notice on Health Care "Reform"(there's that R word again, always a red flag they are going to sell us out again), how all the power centers(politicos, party leadership, big megaphones) have framed the debate-none of them question the idea that "REFORM" is even called for, only what form this agreed upon NEEDED reform will be. They repeat this tactic to our detriment over and over, "Climate Change", etc.

It's people here who have access to good info. If Beck makes them responsive to real truth, then it's great they're watching. But, if he frames the truth and they once again only trust tv, then it's bad they're watching.
I just hate seeing this movement be co-opted. I've sunk an awful lot into it and I'm watching it go the wrong direction. It feels like my friends and I have been planning a cruise to a beautiful island for years and years. We built a great ship, got the best wine, and have been growing the passenger list for a long time. As soon as we set sail, the lounge singer convinces people the ship is going to miss the island if we don't make 2 lefts soon. Most of the people on our ship don't buy it because we know 2 lefts is a u-turn, but we only hire the best so the damn guy's popular. Suddenly, there's 50 ships all around us and they LOVE the lounge singer. When all the ships start making the big U-turn, we'll stand a good chance of getting swept up with them, or run into a lot of interference as we keep heading to the beautiful island and they go back home.
That's how it feels.

Well, those hippies were instrumental in ending the war in Viet Nam. They were also pioneers in bringing to the mainstream in this country alternative medicine, organic and raw food, yoga, meditation, some concern for pouring industrial poison into the air and water, and a healthy skepticism about the rise of the giant multi-national corporation. Sure, some of them were socialists. But not all of them. Not necessarily even most of them. And sure, government co-opted some of their ideas and turned them into coercive nightmares. But you can't blame the hippies for that.
Many of them had a thing or two to learn about economics and the way liberty works. But at least they cared about peace and morality and humanity. Not like the sick bastards Beck serves.
