Was watching him on TV back in my youth when he was scaring the living daylights out of me endorsing a book about anthropogenic global cooling and how we needed drastic regulations of particulate emissions to save the planet from a new ice age. Wonder what he thinks now.

How would you possibly know anything
about the sexual preferences of 13 year olds? As a mom of two, most 13-year olds I've known have been mostly oblivious to the raging sexual interest of older teens and adults. They are still children, and to them older men do NOT look attractive at all. They look like dads at best.
Young girls have been USED sexually throughout history by lecherous older guys; that doesn't mean the kids wanted it.
I'd be happy to see Polanski, like all other sexual predators of kids, punished. In this case he apparently bought off the girl and her family. In a free society I expect that could happen. It surely has happened often in history and still happens in many cultures today.
It still is predation and using children, and is ethically repugnant.
How could YOU possibly know anything about

At any rate you are not the injured party (nor is The State). You have no standing to call for this man's destruction.
I doubt him because he obviously
did not care for or about his victim. Yes I do not know her, but I do know children are easily manipulated and that it is unethical to take advantage of them.
And saying I'd be happy to see him punished (were the victim not bought off) is hardly calling for his destruction (his punishment could simply be paying for years of therapy or whatever it might take to try to repair the negative impact of his destructive behavior. I rather agree with Mary Ruwart's ideas that "punishment" should be for the good of the victim, not as vengeance meted out by some authoritarian State.) Not that anyone would care what I'd call for, but people who violate children are among the lowest forms of humanity.

If our dear lynch mob leader feels threatened by Pulanski and wants him barred from returning to the US (exile is a right of The State, IMO), I could support that, but to forcibly return him here so I and the rest of the taxpayers can pay for his 'punishment' is ludicrous. If the victim has been 'bought off', justice has been served.

I really don't see the difference between having one's daughter diddled by a 17 year old vs. a 19 year old (for example) being worth the destruction of a man's life. It all depends on circumstance. He fled the country before sentencing and now she has moved on with her life.
