Half of Americans support the formation of a new political party

0 votes

MSNBC reports that a recent poll shows that half of Americans would support the formation of a new political party. Chris Daggett, an independent candidate for New Jersey governor, has a chance to win the election, according to recent poll data. Also, recent controversy surrounding New York's 23rd Congressional district has highlighted the divide within the Republican party.

Americans were certainly not happy with Bush Jr.'s years in the White House. Obama's approval ratings are also on the decline. Could 2010 or 2012 be an election in which we see a lot of "non-mainstream" candidates elected? Could a third party like the Libertarian party see a candidate or two elected?

The American political system does is not very friendly to the entrance of new parties. Without any success in previous elections, the candidates have to gather a large number of signatures. Even after making it on to the ballot, most third party candidates receive little mention from media sources and are not invited to political debates.

Dagett has no chance of

Dagett has no chance of winning. There are dozens of parties now. What good would 1 more do?

This is the MSNs attempt to divide and conquer us

As a Ron Paul meetup organizer I saw many people join us from all political backgrounds; democrats, constitutionalists, republicans, greens, flaming liberals and libertarians alike.

What we had in common... We were all against corporatism (fascism) and their collectivist rackets that are gaming us, dividing us and successfully ruling us and enslaving our children.

The powerful can not defeat us united, so they prefer to have us fighting ourselves first. Then they easily defeat the few of us that are left that prevail against the others (our friends in liberty). Once our friends in Liberty are defeated we are left weak and alone and of no use to our cause; we are then of no use to Liberty.

The moneyed interests then easily prevail by default and solely because we have fought ourselves to death and are too few and too weak to tackle them.

Fact is that we currently live under a two party system whether we like it or not... so if you truly want to serve Liberty and fight the corporatists (fascist socialist bailoutists) then you will pick one of the two parties, join-up and fight these special interests from within.

Fact is if you are operating outside the two system you are not really able to affect significant change; because you can not assist us when we need you as a party delegate to stand with us against the republican or democratic leadership.

I am not against third parties, I think they should have the same access as the two parties; but the reality is that third parties do not have appropriate access to the system. To achieve this we must change the law, and to change the law we must first take over the two parties the make the law.

What is really sad is that in Texas if our libertarian, constitutionalist and liberal brethren had joined up as republicans to fight the special interests (and to support Ron Paul) we would have easily taken control of the Texas State Republican Convention and installed Debra Medina as State Party Chairman.

In this we would have been in a better position to promote third party ballot access. And best of all George Bush would have seen his state party turn their back on his politics and policies of control and corruption.

We were so close that at the Republican Texas State Straw Poll in Fort Worth a Dick Cheney video received boos and groans with only spotly resistance. People were so disgusted that they knew he represented Haliburton and torture; and not the interests of a free people.

Please hold your nose and join up with either the republican or democratic parties; and help us fight for real change where we can actually have a chance to overcome the corruption.

Debra Medina for Texas Governor 2010!

Rand Paul for US Senate in Kentucky!

Ron Paul 2012, Join or Die!

I agree fully with you, with

I agree fully with you, with one exception, which is when both the two big parties have settled on pretty much equally unacceptable candidates, like Obama vs. McCain. If, say, we fail to make it Obama vs. Paul, or Obama vs. Johnson, and instead end up with Obama vs. Jeb Bush, I'd say supporting the Libertarian candidate, pretty much regardless of who that may be, is the way to go. Or the Constitution party, if they're still around. Assuming Jeb hasn't magically come to see the light, that is.

Hi stuki

The third party argument has been discussed many time but without appreciable impact on the political landscape.

The simple fact is the C party and L party have absolutely 0 chance of producing any real results. The L party is completely corrupt at the top and has no real interest in what Ron Paul stands for. The L party here in Indiana was hostile to Ron Paul until they noticed the size and activism of our meetup and wanted to USE our resources for their personal political desires.

The ONLY hope at all is to take over the existing two parties as the fact in America is run by duopoly. If you were active in the campaign you know how close we came. Our chances of taking the Republican Party for 2010 and 2012 are very good. The chances of winning substantial political victory with a third party is still 0.

You are

spot on.

I'm waiting to see Paul's judgement

and decision in the next campaign. this time, if he runs in the Republican race, I'd hope he will go 3rd Party if the Republican Establishment closes him out again, instead of dropping out.

HA

If he goes third party they wont need to shut him out. He'll have successfully done it for them.

Third party=
-No National debates
-No screen time
-No name on the ballot

How are people forgetting these facts. I know we're Americans and we have short memories but damn people.

Join the Say No to the 1 Party System - December 16, 2009 National Exodus of 1 Party System Day

In Honor of the Boston Tea Party - December 16, 2009 Is the day all Americans need to let the Democratic and Republican Party - 1 Party System know we have had enough and leave the parties. Change your voter registration to "No Party Affiliation." You can change back after this date if you desire but we must send them a message....

what's the point?

Heck, man, there's at least a dozen political parties right now. Just exactly what does this even mean, anyway?

It's Bull Moose all over again

We're seeing Obama's 2nd term written in stone.

Its a old play

Divided an conquer. I can't believe no one is see this happen right before our eyes!

How are we "organized"

Some of us are in the Democratic party, some in the Republican party, some in the Libertarian party and some in the Constitution Party..

Maybe I should request that we all divide up into seperate parties to become stronger?
.
But at last getting everyone out of the D and R is divide and conquer?

How is that? What am I missing here?

lol

I'm sorry. I can see past the tip of my nose.

That's a unique talent

Sadly enough.
It's too multi-dimensional for most to even comprehend.

My BS meter is going off

Did we not say there would be a push to get all freedom lovers out of the one party system? Therefore eliminating them from the system alltogether?

We came so close and that scared the SH*t out of them. We woke up some many people (Me included) that the only way to shut us down is to make us love the third party and run to it. As we run into the third party cave the powers that be will shut the door behind us, lock-it, and throw away the key.

Heed my words. Any clamoring for the freedom and constitution lovers of this nation to run to a third party must be meet as a threat and a bold faced lie.
