The HYPOCRISY of this site's moderators. SICKENING
To Whom it May Concern,
I just get word that a long time user (2+ years) has had blocked from web site. I sent this gentleman an email yesterday after I read a thoughtprovoking and important piece about building a site that the regular folk who support Ron Paul but aren't into conspiracies can go to. It is here: http://www.dailypaul.com/...
He sends me an email that he was blocked while writing response to someone named Jiminy. Now, I cannot even email this person through the contact form. (I can still write him since we were lucky enough to email before this blocking, but new people cannot).
HERE IS WHAT IS TRULY SICKENING, SELF SERVING, AND HYPOCRITICAL ABOUT THIS THING. This person was discussing legitimate issues about how the campaign moves forward. Not everyone liked what he had to say and that's the nature of things, so yes fine. But the people running this site let BIRTHERS, 9/11 NUTS, AND ALL OTHER MANNER OF WEIRDOS (NO OFFENSE) POST HERE. That stuff sure bothers a lot of us. When the bothered complain the response is for liberty, free market of idea, and all these thing.
OK, so you are favor such freedom to discuss all thing? THEN HOW ARE YOU TO DEFEND BLOCKING OF SOMEONE TALKING ABOUT SOMETHING VERY MUCH IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TOPIC?
I guess freedom is OK if it is yours, if it is freedom to talk about such key thing as how to write phony legal brief for "admirable court jurisdictions" or topic that make us look crazy. But there is no freedom for someone who actually wish to discuss how to improve movement, just because it hurt the feeling of some?
THOSE WHO RUN THE SITE SHOULD BE ASHAME.

It looks like this issue is resolved, but why is ZtM not allowed
I'm not trying to rekindle that topic...and hey, maybe it is allowed.
I perfectly understand that flaming, distractions, and other things would not be allowed, but the content of ZtM seemed related to the realm of 'political enlightenment' enough to be a valid topic.
Was the content of ZtM deemed inappropriate to this site?
Did it just create too many flame posts?
Was it deemed too distracting?
Maybe I missed the memo, but why was ZtM discussion banned?
I promise not to say anymore about it, but I'd appreciate someone (preferably a moderator) briefly explaining why.
Heck, you can just send me a private message if you want this thread to die.
I think we can let this thread wither and die now
Seeing as how I was apparently never blocked, according to Michael, the gremlins in the code just blocked me temporarily.
Thanks again, Stavro, for your passion.

This seems like a deliberate
This seems like a deliberate attempt to sabotage the energy and unity of Ron Paul supporters on the Daily Paul. Was your post intended to be divisive and offensive to all who anchor here?
It's kind of ironic..
Isn't this what you wanted to do with your new site? Restrict the conversation to topics you thought were productive? What if someone disagrees with you, or your style as a moderator?
Check out this new site that just popped up. It's like an answer to your post. It has more of a direct political action focus, like you were suggesting.

Hope you don't completely blow us "crazies" off. Aren't we gonna run a big tent when we get our country back?
Wait, what?
"But the people running this site let BIRTHERS, 9/11 NUTS, AND ALL OTHER MANNER OF WEIRDOS (NO OFFENSE) POST HERE."
How can you call people derogatory names because of topics they discuss and ask them to not take offense?
Why should anyone take you seriously when you state that you want to create a competing website, limit debate to only topics you and a select few decide aren't for "weirdos?" Who are you to decide for me and others what is or isn't "mainstream?"
I agree, go away! Red State needs your help anyway.

Go away.
If you don't like the site or the people here why not just leave? Somehow several people here seem to think freedom and liberty apply only to themselves and those in agreement with them and not the owner of this site and those with opposing viewpoints. One should not use someone else's site to try to solicit others to set up another site to compete with it. That's not only rude, it's thoughtless and selfish.
Hmmm!
This part of your post gave me pause:

btw, Nystrom has asked your friend WCU4Paul TWICE to respond to his simple questions regarding his topic, in his topic.......
...I'm pretty sure if there was hi-jinks going on he would not have asked the second time saying "you still have not answered my questions". Durrr
This is a grandstanding post, and is at best disingenuous. Welcome to reality and the real world. If the real world is to frightening, please by all means go run off and find a bubble or heavily guarded sandbox to play in. We here have unplugged, not a chance in hell of plugging us back in.

It is nothing of the sort
I sent out a mass-email to those who I talk to from this site, via email, when I was unable to post. I got a response back and talked with a former moderator who described the "access denied" and the other error (when posting) as consistent with a temporary or permanent ban.
Perhaps this was a site issue and not deliberate, and I'm willing to trust Michael when he says it was not. But back off of Stavro: he was going off of information from me that I had been banned.
As for Michael twice asking for answers to his questions, he jumped the gun. I was responding to him at the time he chose to repost. The time between my once again being able to post here, and him asking the questions a second time, was probably less than an hour. They "crossed in the mail."

Ummm,
So let me get this right. You defend THIS post? Because it is beneficial? Because it was based on faulty information, with out a true understanding of what was going on?
"But the people running this site let BIRTHERS, 9/11 NUTS, AND ALL OTHER MANNER OF WEIRDOS (NO OFFENSE) POST HERE. That stuff sure bothers a lot of us."
THEN GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND BE SCARED!
This post is in no way based in fact, is divisive, is jumping the gun, shows a lack of "openness", and a fear of reality.
Give me a break. Have fun with your new site.

Just a spam filter....but I like your fire!
The problem with most folks is that they keep their mouth shut too much.
Back in the olden days, folks would protest at the drop of a hat! Government feared the citizens.
Now, no one fear us.
Remember.... the Tea Tax that prompted the Boston tea Party actually would have reduced the price of tea to the colonists! Did that stop them from protesting? I don't think so...

"OK, so you are favor such
"OK, so you are favor such freedom to discuss all thing?" Just to argue the point, I think the first amendment doesn't count towards private entities or regions.
I just clicked on his name and he is not blocked.
His post may have gotten caught in the spam filter. It seems to be a random thing that happens to all of us.
Not sure what he wanted to tell me, but if it was a sincere reply, he can repost. If, however, his response consisted of the usual name calling and insults, I can read any number of his posts and get the idea.
P.S. Stavro, saying "no offense" when you call people weirdos does not make the latter somehow more acceptable. :(
I was thinking the same thing..
well actually I was laughing but still...I'll pretend to be offended... "Stavro, saying "no offense" when you call people weirdos does not make the latter somehow more acceptable."
Now hold on
Your friend's response may have gotten stuck in the spam filter...it's happening to all of us right now..did it contain more than one or two links to another webpage?
Stavro
Apparently I'm not blocked. For about an hour, I was unable to post and got a message that my name was either unregistered or blocked. When I clicked on my own name to track myself, I got "access denied."
Perhaps it was a ghost in the machine, although the timing was quite suspicious. If I were someone else, I would be screaming "conspiracy!" :)
Thanks for posting the update.

Or
you had more than one window open, and you were logged in on one window but not the other, then this would happen.
Nah, that's not it
I do that all the time. I've never had this problem. I closed all the windows and opened them up. I tried logging on got the message that I was unregistered or blocked. Site error, probably.

He is not blocked from the site
But if this keeps up, I'll block you both.
If what keeps up?
Michael,
I'll make the more substantive response on the other page, where you asked relevant questions (and I thank you for that).
But if what keeps up? If those who disagree with me keep complaining? If they keep bombarding my thread with lies, distortions, hate, insults, etc.? It goes both ways, my fellow patriot.
Don't let the echo chamber fool you into ignoring the reality of the situation. Most of the folks like me have been driven off through various means over the past year or so. They've become disheartened with the direction of this site (and sometimes, this movement in general). You've staked out your position, and that's your prerogative. But look at what I posted originally: I reached out to those like me who might be interested in a project that could benefit the movement, and I was spammed with angry, petty responses in great number. You wrote that it looks like the "members of the site had spoken," referring to the few dozen who have seen the thread in the day it's been up and piled on, as if that represents a true cross-section of the site viewers (vs. the forum regulars) or the movement. I'd submit that it does not. And either way, if we're truly going to embrace freedom, let's not make the mistake of falling for some perceived tyranny of the majority.
Michael, I plan on keeping this discussion respectful and about ideas. I'm sure I'll be called every name in the book by people you will not threaten with a block, but I'm prepared for that. I just hope you'll take a look at your own moderation policies, both in regards to whom you discipline and how you keep this a site about liberty and not a collective acid trip.
Thanks,

If the distraction keeps up
You said somewhere that it is your "right" to disagree.
That is true, but it is not your "right" to do it here, on my dime, on my site. It is not your right to be here.
There really isn't much of a controversy, except what you're creating.
If you want to start a site, go for it, but the ongoing discussion is tiresome.
You've made your point with words, now go make it with action.
Sorry.... I've seen this too many times to fall for it....
Clearly DP is one mighty and powerful site..... and is now being targeted for destruction by those who want to stir up trouble. I have seen this many times in organizations I have been in. Don't fall for this guys. It is a distraction that wastes energy. If people don't like this site they are free to leave..... there is no need for rebellion when coming here is VOLUNTARY.

.
Question:
How does your friend intend to start a site with-out all the
"BIRTHERS, 9/11 NUTS, AND ALL OTHER MANNER OF WEIRDOS (NO OFFENSE)" anyway... Block them??
RP is followed by a vast audience, Maybe you should inform your friend,
If you build it they will come ;)
The DP is proof that the grassroots support for Ron Paul and his peaceful message of individual liberty is large, real, and not going away!
The DP is proof that the grassroots support for Ron Paul and his peaceful message of individual liberty is large, real, and not going away!
No one said those folks aren't welcome
If we can put together such a project, all are welcome. People aren't going to be kicked out because of who they are, what they believe, how they look, etc.
You're right about the vast audience.
But think of DP as it is now as a "crazy, anything goes bar." It's the Mos Isley cantina in Star Wars, or something. Many of us think that's the wrong approach for a hub. Many others disagree and like that approach. So be it.
We'd be building something different. Instead of a wild club, it'd be one with a purpose. The theme would be clear: we're here to stay "on-topic" and engage in a narrower, more relevant brand of discussion. If you happen to be in that group, you're welcome to come in anyway and join us, but you can't hijack the site for your own purposes.
Basically, no lightsaber fights and selling death stick. :) But if you leave your lightsaber at home (you can play with it later) and sell your death sticks down the street, you're welcome to come on in and chat with us.
