TeaParty 07 over ALL OTHER FUNDRAISING PROJECTS!!
Submitted by atvdude on Wed, 12/05/2007 - 17:10I feel compelled to put this up. First I am a supporter of Dr. Ron Paul and after December 16th and 800.00 I will be a MAXED donor to the OFFICIAL Ron Paul campaign..
I have also kicked out a couple of bucks to the folks who have quit their jobs in other states and have traveled to IA or NH and are living there supporting the campaign in a VOLUNTEER capacity..
I work on the web so I spend a lot of time on dailypaul both during the day and the evening...
I am concerned by a small core of supporters that keep pumping the Trevor Lyman RON PAUL BLIMP... over n over n over... post like.. I doubled my donation... or this will bring the media to us... or I sent in my 500... etc..etc...
I hope ALL these folks are being honest and HAVE done this... But I hope that THEY ARE ALL MAXED OUT DONORS TOO...
Trevor Lyman promoted a web site Nov 5th.. with the idea that.. "Hey if we all donate on the same 24hours period... maybe we would donate so much we could make HISTORY"
This was a FANTASTIC goal.. and it WORKED!! and even TODAY news storys comment about how we raised 4.3 million IN ONE DAY... EVEN OVER A MONTH LATER... Money is what matters to many in the media.. and what was used as the excuse for Dr. Paul being a bottom teir candidate... He just couldn't raise the kind of money the type like the Ghoul were raising....
I would point out however.. that most of the storys at the time slanted on the Guy Faulk connection money bomb etc... so even though this was something THE OTHER CAMPAIGNS WOULD HAVE LIKED TO ACCOMPLISH.. I.e. raising 4.3 mill in one day.. THEY COULD NOT... and WE COULD.. that was the story.. but it was STILL slanted by many.. and still is today...
So now we have storys run in the Washington Post in the L.A. Times and in USA Today... about how Dr. Paul's supporters are planning ANOTHER BIG DONATION DAY... set to coincide with the Tea Party anniversary....
SO THEY HAVE NOTICED...
Now.. What happens if we DON'T have a spectacular day on December 16th...???
Well for one, even we we DO accomplish something fantastic many in MSM want to twist it... Imagine if we only raise 4 million dollars on December 16th.... Can't you see the media... IF THEY COVER IT AT ALL... saying something like... "Paul supporters can't do as much the second time marking the Anniversary of the Boston Tea Party... Maybe they needed a bombing to commerate?"
I for one... and I thought Trevor Lyman felt EXACTLY LIKE ME... wants to see TeaParty 07... SURPASS GREATLY NOV. 5!!
How is it.. if folks that have not given $2300 to the official campaign... would be ASKED much less give to the Blimp project??? something CERTAINLY NOT SANCTIONED BY THE CAMPAIGN.. Not that the TeaParty is either... BUT THE OFFICIAL CAMPAIGN ARE EXPECTING IT.. and have helped to PROMOTE IT BY SAYING SO IN PUBLIC AND IN THE MSM...
I certainly wish the BLIMP loads of success... BUT NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF ONE DIME FROM THE TEA PARTY... and I can't see how ANY RON PAUL SUPPORTER WOULD DISAGREE... (Unless they had something DIRECTLY TO GAIN FROM THE BLIMP PROMOTION)

And probably would make an appearance in every newspaper of every town it flies over. It's never been done before. It's grass roots, and that's what the media likes to talk about when it comes to Ron Paul. I find it hard to believe many people would not know who Ron Paul is after the blimp has been in the air.

We need Both
The campaign currently has 10million 693 thousand plus, their goal is 12 million for the quarter. We are so going to blow well over 12 million for the quarter. IF we do not get ten million on the 16th it doesn't matter because we have already SUCCEEDED by surpassing their own goal of 12 million.
Now, I was indifferent about the zeppelin at first but the more I read and thought about it. It made me smile. It was worth it to donate just to smile for a bit. Don't take that away from me. I would enjoy hearing about the adventures of the blimp. In fact I don't care if the Fascist News reports on it or not. I am fed up with them. I have noticed that the grassroots efforts
seem more productive than the main campaign anyway. I DON'T LIKE PEOPLE TELLING HOW TO SPEND MY MONEY. I have been following the campaign long enough to know if you are expecting to get any respect or air time on the Fascist news don't hold you breath.

It seems that there's a lot of troll labeling going on in this thread. I don't believe atvdude is a troll. Misguided maybe, but not a troll. Regardless of atvdude's antics, he brings up a very good point, but it's just that....a point of view. Sure, he's abrasive to some, but who isn't? Now, instead of arguing your point of view to atvdude, some would rather intellectually turn off and start name calling. If this site was full of fourth graders then I wouldn't be surpised at such behavior. It's not however, so let's hash-out our differences with a rEVOLution mindset. I myself have raised concerns about the blimp. I think the blimp is an original idea that will garner attention. There are some valid points that should have been considered and addressed before going full-steam ahead, but it's too late now. I've listed them before and will not do so again unless asked. I believe everyone is in agreement that any money going to the official campaign is more important than money not going to the official campaign. In closing, let's all promote our pet projects and allow people to decide for themselves. If someone promotes their pet project, don't go looking to "blast" them simply because you disagree. Yes, I agree the grassroots should wait til the 16th to donate now. Make the Tea Party in 2007 the biggest fundraising day in history even bigger than Nov.5. Yes, I am signed up as well. All the money raised now will go to the Florida primary and beyond. It is too late to raise money for the early primary states(unless it is outside the campaign) for tv or radio ads.
Why the worry?
I have no doubt that December 16th will be a huge day for Ron Paul. He already has over 25,000 people who have committed to giving at least $100, and the trend on that graph is actually starting to climb faster. The date has been promoted everywhere from YouTube to newspapers to TV networks to magazines. If it is anything like November 5th, the total will be at least double the pledges (putting it at over $5 million as of today).
So why the worry?
All it needs to be is equal to or greater than $4.3 million to be a huge success. The fact that Ron Paul was able to do it not just once but twice will be huge news. With the added bonus of a blimp to oversee the proceedings, I have no doubt it will make quite a splash.
Most importantly of all, Ron Paul and his message will spread even further into the hearts and minds of the American voter.
We need to focus on getting the word out about Ron Paul. Confront lies with truth. Remember to stay friendly and positive. Follow Ron Paul's lead in showing compassion for his opponents even while standing firm in his positions.
Tea Party donations
First of all: Stop picking on Trevor. The dude is giving it all he can, along with the rest of us. Let's not nitpick over what will have more impact, a Tea Party or a Blimp.
Nov. 5th worked, Tea Party will work, AND the Blimp will work. These are all great ideas. The Live Free or Die "boots on the ground campaign" is really important as well. We need to hit on all cylinders to win, so ease up on the negative vibrations.
I know the RP campaign headquarters has been contacted by a very influential contributor/public personality regarding the Glenn Beck offer. I guess we'll have to wait and see how that one turns out, but I know the call was made.

You KNOW they are going to be doing some stories on Ron prior to 12-16, as some have already been doing, so I'm kind of counting on the MSM to do the official "national call" for us...lol.
Regarding the Blimp project, please give me the benefit of being a thinking adult and allow me (and others) the "freedom" to do what we all know to be best for both the campaign and our wallets. I don't think anyone on here disputes the importance of TeaParty07 over the Blimp, but allow "us" that choice :-)

How many posts do you need to knock the blimp? If you don't want to donate to the blimp, don't. Don't tell people here that it's a foolish idea and that they can only donate if they're maxed out. We are Ron Paul supporters because we don't like being told what to do. How about you act like one, atvdude. The 16th will be huge and so will the blimp. The media will find a way to knock us and Ron no matter what, and any small amount taken from the 16th for the blimp will be well worth it.....if any is taken at all. The blimp project will probably be the standard to future campaigns and is in no way outdated. Ron will love the blimp when flying.

People like to give to tangible things
It always is more effective for fundraising when donors know what they are donating for. It is much better for a teacher to give parents a list of what they want, or for a project to detail what they want the money for. This is just something fun. People can look into the sky and say that they helped get that there.
I am giving on the 16th but I also gave a little to the blimp.

I think that teaparty07 will exceed Nov 5th in fundraising by a healthy margin ($7.1M is my guess), but I must admit that I don't see the "viral" thing really catching on this time around. I do see the Ron Paul campaign getting stronger and new folks are being told about this event, but the event itself is not creaping into people's imaginations like the last moneybomb.
Meanwhile Trevor is doing a lousy job of updating the website and, in fact, had massive problems with the site just when the USA Today ad appeared.
I don't know what to suggest at this point, but maybe we have to get the dxxn blimp paid for so Trevor will get back on track for the tea party!

There was a lot of people maxed out the first time around and we won't have the benifit of their contribution this time around. RP said in the press that we could see $14M or $15M for the quarter so I would assume that to be the minimum objective... at least a 4 million dollar money bomb. Everything above that is for history.

My thoughts are along this line. If each person donates at least $400.00 times the 25000+ persons signed up we should blow this thing out of the water. I will be donating $1,000.00. This will not make me maxed out but it is all I can afford at this time. I have been saving this knowing the campaign needs the money but I figure my 1000 will be leveraged ten times in exposure by generating over 10,000,000.00.
