Soldiers can't carry weapons on base... you've got to be kidding me.

I am astounded. Train professionals in weaponry can't carry? What does that say about the general public carrying weapons? Another reason to stay armed always.

Kay Bailout likes to portray herself as pro-second amendment but I assure you she is not. I know she voted for trigger locks.

that is why. Not only that there are too many civilians on most bases, and the military has contracted outside sources for police protection.

I have a friend who was staioned at Ft Hood and he said shootings was not out of the ordinary for someone to get shot there. The difference is they would keep it hush-hush and 12 people/military soldiers were killed. Could this just be a distaction for PelosiCare to get ram rodded down our throats? yes, insane that military bases are essentially gun free zones. Husb was stationed in DaNang. Even back then and a war zone yet, other than guards, etc., nobody had free access to their weapon. Key to lockup was with a drunk lifer on other side of the base.

Another reason why I will not join the military

Isnt this the second time some "terrorist" shot up a military base, and killed a bunch of solders who were unarmed. The bad thing about it is that now they are going to say there was one too many guns (because we know guns are the problem), and make this a focal point to ban guns.

If you are not on duty and guarding a post, you do not have a weapon on a military base.

I had a friend who was thrown out of the military for having a loaded weapon in his dorm, for instance.

I have also taken part in guarding a perimeter with an unloaded weapon, as described below.

It has been common knowledge for a long time. Most military bases here in the states do not usually have any threat of attacks, maybe this will change, especially now that the news media has spread this information so widely.

I'd like to interject a thought...that the terrible joke is irony...and that the joke is playing on us all. Why fight what we own? We should just own it. Why cry for what we've relented, just reclaim it. Liberty is indeed both thought and action, will we answer with both compulsion and claim?

I'd say that this was the norm, and not the exception.

It's probably untrue with MPs, but it's the norm with your regular GI types out walking fire duty. i had an M16 within arms reach for about 4 years, and the only time I got bullets was for the rifle range and for a little excursion in Somalia and Iraq.
