I'm embarrassed for my fellow American.

I'm feeling quite misanthropic right now...

...like, these people pretty much deserve whatever they get.

Its not just gold that people refuse.

Reminds me of this story in the Liverpool Echo.

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/200...

"I believe the true significance of the Gold Commission is that the politicians and central bankers were so alarmed at such a thing that they made sure it was packed by an array of Keynesians and monetarists." (Ron Paul 1985)

(NEW FILM) Tries To Give Away One Ounce Gold Coin

.

Now he can't even GIVE it away -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WAaVK5AkZzI&feature=player_em...

Following his attempt to get people to buy a one ounce gold coin worth over $1150 for just $50, Mark Dice offers to give the coin away for free if they can guess the value to within 25%. The response is another indictment of dumb America.

Retards one and all.

Someone remind me why we give a crap about these people.

Several weeks ago.............

.

Several weeks ago, a nice little 10-year old girl in the neighborhood found a silver dollar in the yard across the street buried in some dirt. (Lord knows why it was there)

Anyhow, she rode her bike over to my wife and I sitting in the driveway to show us the "dollar" she had just found.

She was shocked when I told her that "dollar" was worth approx $17 dollars.

I told her to go home and have her parents look up the worth of an ounce of silver.

Jon Nadler, owner of kitco.com, cited this video

in his daily column today as evidence that people don't care about owning gold and that gold is not money.
http://www.kitco.com/ind/nadler/nov102009.html

This Nadler guy, who predicted that the price of gold would average $850 for the year 2009 and who regularly denigrates people that think differently from him, will go to any lengths necessary to make his case I guess, haha.

Note the DailyPaul reference by the way. More proof of the DailyPaul's prominence on the internets.

very entertaining

I suspect if Mark Dice tried to sell a $100 bill for one dollar while doing this man-on-the-street video stuff, he'd fail at that, too.

Would you buy anything from someone soliciting on the street with a microphone and camera?

It's still entertaining, though, if you assume that Mark is actually trying to give away $1000 worth of gold for almost nothing.

Who is really the fool?

Yes, One Can't Make Too Much Of This

There are many other reasons that people might not bite other than their being "stupid." Wariness of something "too good to be true" comes to mind. Add the presence of a camera and microphone and the very real possibility that it's a hoax and/or a come-on might give one pause.

I think the idiot with the bird on his shouder was jeff2345609897 who says the gold is a fiat currency and that gold was going to take a big drop.. then 2 days later started on its treck to 1100.00 lmao... also if this doesn't prove that gold is not in an "asset bubble" I don't know what could... jeff234560987 wrong again...

What would be the best way to sell

gold coins? And would now be a good time to sell?

edited to add: I ask because we do have some coins and are unsure rather to hold onto them or sell. If we decide to sell, how do we go about it? I do not want to be ripped off by a dealer.

I wouldn't buy a Rolex from him either....

Seriously, if someone tried to sell me a gold coin for fifty bucks on the street I would automatically assume it was fake.

This means nothing.

Well, they weren't even asking the right questions.

They were obviously just clueless, not just being careful.

Who the hell is this jeff

Who the hell is this jeff guy?? lol

If you're not smart enough to know how

to check and see if it's real then yes it wouldn't mean anything to you.

Moron.

How?

I'm a moron, got it. I'm ok with that.

Now, HOW can you tell? I've got me some gold coins.

I remember seeing something about biting it, that it's softer than fake alloys. Also, the weight helps.

But how can I tell what I have is real gold without being destructive to it? I don't even want to take them out of the plastic things they came in.

I'd roll the dice

No pun intended.

he seemed like a pretty big

he seemed like a pretty big guy, maybe a snatch and run?

Ok look, I understand what

Ok look, I understand what Mark was attempting to do but the way he went about it, at least if he approached me like that is that the coin was fake. Would you buy a fake coin for $50? I think people are putting way to much into this video. As I stated if he would have approached me and said hey I will sell you an ounce of gold for $50 I would have walked away too thinking it was a scam or considering he had a camera and a mic that you would end up on youtube as the boob that bought a fake coin for $50. Think about it.

i agree

its pretty obvious watching the video that there is a whole nother level of psychology going on here.

People dont want to be duped MORE than they want to gain. We've all been taught from pretty young that if something seems too good to be true then it probably is - plus they probably dont feel confident in their metals appraisal capabilities, and people in general are really shy and conscientious about asking informative questions.

I think more than anything this vid proves that people are very non-confrontational. Almost every reason explained as why not to buy it were excuses.

Re: I agree

Also what's at play here is just plain willfull ignorance. I have tried for YEARS to wake people up to these facts. However while trying to help people out, i.e. inform them, it normally keeps getting played out just like you saw the in the video with me also........ Just excuses...........

Now who are the kooks?

I wonder what he

would have done if people took him up on it. If I was there I would have bought it from him. I bet most of those people had no money on them they
look liked they were out getting exercise.
